SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

I'd lose my shit if it was Cyrax. Even better if it's like dude said and it turns out to be a hallucination of Bi Han.

Oh, here's a surprise I wasn't expecting until next week. The solicitation for issue #8 of the print comic! (digital Chapters 22-24)

As the Shokan uprising comes to an end, Johnny and Sonya head to Shang Tsung’s island to rescue their daughter. Meanwhile, Scorpion and Takeda come face-to-face with Havik! Don’t miss the shocking finale to our second epic adventure, “Blood Gods”!

Here's to hoping Scorpion doesn't kill Havik. D=

I'm not thrilled that Scorpion plays a large role in taking down Havik, but in retrospect it makes a lot of sense with the way the book's been structured. They were Havik's first victims, and then Scorpion followed up his private investigation by going to Raiden, then he found Sub-Zero... it makes sense.

Looking forward to Johnny/Scorpion, Havik's hijinks, and Reiko's weasely attempts to not follow Havik into the grave.

Hey, it's not a given Havik's going to start pushing up daisies here. There are still 12 more chapters after this, and he's pretty much been the central villain!

I wouldn't be surprised if he actually wants Scorpion to come after him as part of whatever he's up to.

Haha, yeah, that was just dramatic overstatement on my part.

Havik's actually enjoyed quite the power boost in Kittelsen's run so far, so it'll be interesting to see how he matches these characters up when it comes to a brawl. But with the tournament closing and Scorpion gunning for Havik hard, Reiko's relevance at present seems... tenuous. Hopefully this will translate into more long term impact.

I hope Scorpion kick Havik's ass for everything he has done. He likes chaos, right? Let's see if he likes an chaotic Hanzo punching his face.

[...]

I wanna know what Reiko will do to make context to "Reiko Accords".

Chapter 16's summary! I really enjoyed this one.

Spoiler:
After the preview, we see Sub-Zero's horror at his becoming a cyborg, and then his death at Sindel's hands. However, death was far from the end for him: Kuai Liang awakens in the Netherrealm, restrained by revenant Smoke and Jax as Quan Chi marvels at his still having a soul despite being a cyborg. Quan Chi begins using his magic on Sub-Zero, ripping apart his cyborg body and leaving nothing behind but his internal organs, which Quan Chi then makes into a new body for his latest slave. We then flash forward to the battle at Quan Chi's Fortress, where Raiden casts the spell that restores the revenants there, and the last thing Sub-Zero sees is a flash of light.

Months later, Kuai Liang awakens again, this time in a bed. Thinking he's been dragged into another hell, he is startled by a voice and lashes out in surprise, but Raiden easily counters it. The thunder god tells the cryomancer that he's safe and alive again in the Sky Temple, and as a grateful Sub-Zero wonders how he can live with what he did under Quan Chi's control, Raiden suggests that he make amends by helping Earthrealm...

We then return to the present, where a bandaged up Sub-Zero finishes telling his story with how he was sent to go find the lost Kamidogu. We then find out who it is that found Kuai Liang and bandaged him up: Bo Rai Cho! Sub-Zero wallows in the belief that he'll always be under someone else's control, but Bo merely encourages him to figure out what all of these events mean. Bo then helps the injured Lin Kuei walk as he tells him that after all he's endured, Raiden now owes him a favour.

We cut back to the Sky Temple, where Raiden is thankful that Scorpion spared Sub-Zero. Raiden tells Hanzo and Takeda to go find the Chaosrealm Kamidogu at the Kang Shaolin Temple, while he gets the Earthrealm Kamidogu from none other than Jackson Briggs! At this time, Jax is chopping some wood at his farm, when he receives a visitor of his own: Reiko, who demands that Jax give him the Kamidogu in exchange for his daughter's life! Jax is none too pleased to hear this...

Someone posted the entire comic on the reddit forum. I'm sure posting a link here would violate the forum rules, so not going to do that. If you want to see it, go search the reddit forum. ^^

Spoilers: Naked Sub-Zero butt. ;P

Damn! Talk about too much suffering from just being forced into servitude for a very long time. At least now we know how Quan Chi was able to create a new flesh body for Kuai to be in.

Buying the comic so we get more is always nice, too. :)

This chapter was kind of meh. Shawn Kittelsen got me used to quality stories until now.
But now,
Spoiler:
Sub-Zero has had that dagger for 10 years or so. Why didn't he deliver it to Havik? Was he on a rampage through China all this time? That entire scene with Sub-Zero and Kano from the first comic should have been set in the present, not 10 years ago, else it doesn't make sense. Why did Havik start collecting daggers then and only now attacks the Shirai Ryu through the corruption of Forrest Fox?
And Reiko walking straight to Jax. Why not just steal the dagger if he knows where it is? Why not just bring with him a thousand of his mercenaries and shoot Jax in the head?
Why did Raiden actually let that dagger with Jax? I can see it protected by the Shirai Ryu or the White Lotus, but Jax lives on a farm.....with his wife!!! Sure, he's one of Earthrealm's most powerful warriors, but where does he keep it? In his garage?

And how did Reiko travel to Earthrealm? I suppose this one could be explained, but from what we know so far all portals to and from Earthrealm have been sealed by Raiden after the wars. Not even Quan Chi is able to open portals anymore after Shinnok's imprisonment. Only those with extraordinary means can still travel between the realms (like Kotal Kahn).

Spoiler:
I'm pretty sure Reiko bringing a bunch of mercenaries would draw attention to himself, and Jax probably still would kick all of their asses even if they tried to shoot him in the head. Using Jacqui as a bargaining chip is a better plan than that.

Like you said, Jax is one of Earthrealm's most powerful warriors. Raiden said he left the Kamidogu with several different champions, not several different strongholds. Jax has kept it protected this long, and without any possession.

And Reiko was just on Shang Tsung's island, which is between Earthrealm and Outworld. I don't think this is too hard to explain, never mind that it was never said Raiden sealed all the portals to and from Earthrealm, just that the Netherrealm War broke some barriers he had to repair. Besides, the Red Dragon clearly have to possess some method of their own of travelling between Earthrealm and Outworld.

I believe the Red Dragon are still forcing Caro to conjure up portals to any realm and anyplace, especially to crazy places like Outworld, Chaosrealm, etc., for nefarious deeds. Raiden may have averted and delayed Armageddon from ever going to the worst case results (with Shao Kahn killed and gone from that timeline, with only a sliver of his soul within Ermac), but the whole event is still inevitable.

Uhm...well, you know that big red dragon being kept chained under Charred Mountain?

Also, in the original timeline, Raiden had sealed all portals after Shinnok's invasion and Quan Chi and Shang Tsung had to travel to a secret portal known only by deities and sorcerers.
Spoiler:
It's safe to say that he did the same as long as in the game Quan Chi has only one access way into Earthrealm, where the Special Forces make their ambush and capture him.
