SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

I still have a bad feeling that reiko is not gonna be in mkx :(

I think he will be in.
Reiko and Fujin have good chances, IMO, especially Reiko since he seems to have a more prominent role in the comics.
I don't think that they would have kept Reiko alive for this long in the comics, if they didn't plan to keep him.
Plus, he was in Raiden's visions after Raiden cut himself with the dagger along with Cassie, Scorpion, Takeda, Mileena, Kano, Goro and Jacqui and most of those are already confirmed for the game.

"This long in the comics"? Like... two chapters? They're not going to automatically kill off every character not in MKX that shows up in the comics, that is horrible logic. Hsu Hao was the only one immediately off'd. Goro also wasn't in Raiden's vision, that was a generic Shokan, and Frost was also in the vision, and she has pretty low chances of being playable. Raiden's vision was not a playable character checklist.

Hence why I said "most" of the characters in that vision are already confirmed for the game (Raiden, Cassie, Scorpion, Kano).
I know it's not a playable character checklist, but most of those characters in the visions are involved heavily in the story, which is why I think he has good chances.
Also, generic Shokan?
I suppose that you think that was a generic Tarkatan / Edenian half-blood dressed in purple that was in the vision with Reiko, too?

So... since when did Goro have a beard? And bracers that look nothing like the ones he has in the game? And why would he be hanging out in a bar with Kano?

Not every Shokan is Goro, Commander. Especially ones that look nothing like him.

In his MKA concept art, he had a little tuft in the back. I'd like to see him get that, rather than it just being a swept undercut look. And also the white streak in his hair... I miss that. :/

Ah, nice. I'm cool with that. Never thought I'd be excited to see the dude return, but the comics have really restored my interest in the guy. Seeing him be such a brilliant strategist is really cool. Here's hopin' he dons that wrath hammer for one of his variations!

Why would they just have a generic Shokan in a vision?
That makes no sense at all.
That's the equivalent of Raiden having the generic Red Dragon goon that Sub-Zero knocked out in the vision.
His visions seem to involve characters that are important to the story.
A generic fodder / filler Shokan character would make no sense in Raiden's visions that also have Reiko, Mileena, Cassie, Scorpion, Takeda, Kano, Sub-Zero and Jaqui, all which seem to have important roles in the comics and possibly even in the game.

I think that vision was meant to show what were the focus of bloodshed that the "demon" was connecting.

That vision focused on Kano, it seemed he was starting a brawl like in a bar with the Shokan.

Also remembering the possibility that Black Dragon are against Shokans right now.

Oh, you mean like the crowd of generic cyborgs that Sub-Zero is fighting in the vision? Or do you think every one of those is an important, individual character with their own name, background, etc.?

Dude, Kano was the main focus of that part of the vision, not the friggin' Shokan. It was showing us what he was doing, and what he was doing was having a little "disagreement" with that Shokan. Raiden was seeing stuff about to be involved with the blood demon, not exclusively the important characters of Mortal Kombat X. That Shokan will probably never be seen again, just like how we'll never find out whose heart Kotal was eating in that vision; Kittelsen said it belonged to no one in particular, just like how Kano was the focus in his bit, Kotal and friends and not the heart were meant to be the focus in that one. You seem to be thinking that everyone and everything in that vision, even the background characters, is extremely important. Does that include the members of cheering crowd behind Cassie and Frost there, too?

Harpoon
The Lin Kuei do seem to play into the story given that this MKX Sub-Zero is fighting them off, and Jaqui is also in that crowd where Cassie is fighting Frost, so yeah they do seem important to the story at hand.

That's not what you were arguing. You were saying that one, specific Shokan has to be important, so that means those specific Lin Kuei and crowd members have to be important, too. I could just as well argue that the generic Shokan is important because the Shokan race will be doing stuff within a few chapters. And you can't even see Jacqui in the crowd there and she's in another part of the vision, so no, that doesn't fly.

Its pretty clear that is a generic Shokan. The same way those are generic cyborgs.

Being important to the story isnt what he is arguing. When haven't Shokan been important in Mortal Kombat.

You were saying that one, specific Shokan has to be important, so that means those specific Lin Kuei and crowd members have to be important, too.

Yes, exactly.
That Shokan (Goro or not) DOES seem to have importance, the same way that Scorpion, Takeda, Jax, Jaqui, Mileena, Reiko, Sub-Zero, Cassie, Frost, Kotal, Ferra/Torr and Reptile also have story relevance in the comics.
The Ling Kuei cyborgs probably = Sub-Zero taking over the Lin Kuei, just as the crowd = Cassie being in the death match with Frost, with Jacqui watching in the crowd.

I don't think it's Goro. Goro doesn't have a beard and he wouldn't sit there screaming in pain from a stabbing like that.

That shokan has no importance at all, he's just a generic shokan right there, like people before me stated so many times.

I don't think it's Goro. Goro doesn't have a beard and he wouldn't sit there screaming in pain from a stabbing like that.

The guy has the same pony tail as Goro, though.
Huh? I'm pretty sure that just about any living creature would scream in pain if they were stabbed right through a hand or foot.

True, but he took the blow from the wrath hammer like a champ so I would think his pain tolerance is much higher than normal.

Also I don't think someone as prideful and "honorable" as Gor would be caught dead in a tavern... or what looks like a tavern anyway, especially with Kano.

But idk, maybe the artist fukked up and we haven't thought anything of it till now.

No. You keep saying that specific Shokan is important. Therefore, by that logic, all of those specific Lin Kuei cyborgs should be important, not the Lin Kuei in general, and all of those specific crowd crowd members should be important, not Jacqui. This is working off of your logic.

The guy has the same pony tail as Goro, though.
Huh? I'm pretty sure that just about any living creature would scream in pain if they were stabbed right through a hand or foot.

But he still doesn't look like Goro in any other way. The beard, the bracers... he doesn't look like Goro at all. Goro is not the only the character to ever have a ponytail.

Also, given that he shrugged off being smacked in the face by Shao Kahn's hammer, I also doubt Goro would just sit there howling in pain.

True.

Also true, although I DO wonder about Kano.
Seems like he betrayed Kotal, just as Goro did, given by the intro lines with him and D'Vorah.

Yeah, that's also possible.
I dunno.
You have good points, but that random Shokan in the comic just seems a bit off to me.
