You are misremembering things. Kotal Kahn gave the hammer to his father for the mission into Mileena's territory, then Goro took it for himself when he killed K'Etz.

Well, maybe Goro will give the hammer to Reiko. We shall see. Shao Kahn's armor and hammer are both found in a certain MKX stage... so I don't think Goro will use it. Maybe that stage is Reiko's.

That's what I'm thinking: Goro gives Reiko the hammer, and in turn Reiko becomes the NEW "Shao Kahn."
I mean, think about it.
Reiko mentioned to Goro that Goro could only easily kill an Osh-Tekk, when Goro had Shao Kahn and an imperial army by his side.
Maybe Goro gives Reiko the Kahn Hammer, in hopes that Reiko will be the next Kahn and form an imperial army again to take Kotal Kahn down.
Technically Reiko was the top general in Shao Kahn's army and he even wears gear that's VERY similar to Shao Kahn.
The only thing missing on Reiko is Shao Kahn's helmet, but he's got the right look to be the next incarnation of Shao......................

I honestly can't see anyone other than Reiko and Shao Kahn himself wield his hammer. Goro with the hammer? It would looks very odd and feel out of place, imo.

While I'm not saying to give Reiko Kahn's helmet, him wielding Kahn's hammer after the fall of Shao Kahn feels pretty natural and in the proper progression of things, IMO.

I wouldn't give Reiko the helmet either. Let Quan Chi keep that old relic in his library.
But I wouldn't mind seeing Reiko sport a helmet somewhat like it in one of his Variations or maybe in an alt.

He may look similar but he's a completely different guy.
His methods are different, Shao Kahn's battles were about overwhelming agression and intimidation and a ruthless leadership where he is the absolute alpha, while Reiko relies on subterfuge, negociating alliances, playing with other people's egos, he's even willing to kneel before Mileena if that gets his plans going.
They come from completely different backgrounds, because Shao Kahn was this larger than life personality known throughout the realms and whose actions required the worry and interference of Elder Gods. Reiko on the other hand is an up and coming who isn't even one of the two top contenders for the throne and has to work his way from the bottom up.
Their abilities are nothing alike, don't forget while Shao Kahn liked to fight physically he is also one of the most powerful sorcerers on the series, easily overshadowing Shang Tsung (he casually removed his souls and destroyed him in MK9), seemingly impossible to kill and with godlike powers. Reiko however has shown absolutely no skill in sorcery, only basic fighting skills.
I don't think he looks the same either, he has similar armor but we've never seen him fight with Shao Kahn's helmet, and he doesn't have the same body build.

Yea, but as for as we know the only real changes to story didn't happen till the 2nd tournament in Outworld on 9. Raiden knew what was going on, but failed to do any changes in mk1s story. I guess what I'm saying is I think everything pre-MK1 would have remained the same. For your theory, I think the elder gods remain neutral and it would be cool to see Onaga appear, but in a timeline where Khan has fallen and you have several Big characters fighting for control. I imagine he maybe completely different mind wise with all the changes that are happening.

I just hope Reiko has an outfit because the no-outfit with shoulder pads is lazy and lame.
I'd like a revamped and original version of his MK4 generic outfit mixed with details from his MKA no-outfit (shoulder pads, belt, skull in chest, etc).
And make him have longer hair, the actual haircut makes him look like a moron.

His MK4 outfit was basically a palette-swap of Sub-Zero's, so of course I wouldn't want anything like that.
But a new and improved outfit would be great. ^^

I know, he is not a ninja so he shouldn't look like one, but if you mix the best of both outfits and add a few new details you get a nice new Reiko.

This is not that bad. Something like this is a good place to start, he at least looks like a general who goes to war in this pic, you know, with an armor and not half naked body.

I wouldn't mind seeing Reiko just being helmet-less, and weilding Kahn's hammer in 1 of his variations.
If Kitana can have a mournful variation, why can't Reiko have 1 in memory of Shao Kahn?

Agreed. It's un-inspired and a bit too much like Shao Kahn.
Ehh. This I don't agree with. The haircut makes sense. It's militant. It looks like something a general would have. I think it fits him quite well. And it's somewhat stylish too.

In his MKA concept art, he had a little tuft in the back. I'd like to see him get that, rather than it just being a swept undercut look. And also the white streak in his hair... I miss that. :/

His alternate on MK:A was good, kind of MK4, but I think this one is far superior.
Maybe we could see him on this alternate like on the events of MK4 now on this timeline (Netherrealm War), but considering his appearance on MK9 (not only background, but also Cyber Sub-Zero P.O.V), he is keeping this appearance.
