I'm sorry but shit like this really irks me. The LGBTQ community is cool, but why, WHY, WHY WHY, do some of you think that you need your community to be represented in a work of fiction where sexual orientation has nothing to do with the story? Does it make your lives feel better? There's no Sikh character in any video game whatsoever, am I crying?

Like I don't get it, people are annoyed with Jax being in the game just for the sake of having a black character in the game, yet they're campaigning for this? Hypocritical much?

This shit needs to stop. Game devs should put LGBT or strong female characters in their games because they WANT to. Not because a bunch of feminists or whinny babies on the internet demand it

also MKO is a cesspool. I got banned for calling Crow out on his shit once.

A MMA Fighter, fighting in the UFC Strawweight Division, Felice Herrig, claimed that Cassie Cage was based off her, and the idiots on that site (Mortal Kombat Online) immediately thought she was going to sue NRS, when she was just goofing around. The vile shit they're saying about her really irked me, like seriously I dare any one of those keyboard warriors to actually say the shit they're saying about her to her face. The ensuing ass kicking they'd get would be priceless.

I can understand if the character was suppose to be like that in the first place (aka Poison from Street Fighter), but when it's just to satisfy a group then it becomes pretty much forced (kinda like what Bioware did with Dragon Age Inquisition). If the reason for Jax being included for so many games was because he was black then they did a horrible job trying to impress me with him.

Funny how my one question actually turned into a full one page discussion. :laugh:

The funny thing is, it's probably not even LGBTQ members that are the majority advocating the inclusion of a character belonging to the community. Just like with the advocation of the inclusion of Black characters just for the sake of it, it's White Knight, Caucasian "EVERYONE NEEDS RIGHTS" people that are the most vocal.

Speaking as a member of a racial minority, I feel for white people sometimes. They've taken so much grief for the previous treatment of minorities that they're almost scared senseless into overly advocating for their inclusion in everything now.

I agree with both of you. People begging for representation for the sake of representation seem to not understand that if every single demographic were represented, we would have an impossibly large roster.

Its not just race. Ubisoft got a lot of flak when people pinned them for not having playable female characters in AC Unity. But when you play the game, they made a conscious, story centered decision for doing so. I'm with you, I'm not one for all this "You guys need to do this and this and this with YOUR creative project because we don't want to offend anybody playing or watching it!" crap.

To be fair, the whole reason why this came up was because someone mentioned the campaigning for the inclusion of a MORTAL KOMBAT CHARACTER.

Is it really wrong to discuss reasons against that?

You can blame all the major sites for that. IGN, Kotaku, Gamespot all have at least 1 article a day about games not being more ethnic, including LGBT characters, not having female leads or how female characters are over sexualized
