SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

Oh great. More Jonya :/

Man, I want to see Kenshi, period. How did he help Hanzo (apart from the half-thought out one-liners, pls). How did he break the Sento? Why is he possessed? What is he upto? We've seen some Mavado/Red Dragon involvement, but no word on him after the first comic :@

He seems hard done by in the comics in addition to the game :(((

I believe the possession of Kenshi is not canon. But yeah, the Kenshi helping Hanzo plot should be expanded because we practically know nothing about this.

I really want to see what explanation Kittelson has for that scene. Like Harpoon said, I'm not gonna jump to conclusions, but that scene was screaming inconsistencies, so hopefully the actual issue explains better.

Maybe, maybe not.. IIRC, in Takeda's chapter, when you play against Kenshi he uses the possessed variation - which leads me to think that perhaps it is canon.. But it wont be expanded on greatly, if at all, by the NRS.

The Kenshi-Hanzo scenario definitely should be detailed. I dont know why, I can understand and see how Kenshi could have broken Ermac's bonds 'in a moment of pity' in the old timeline - but Hanzo? That is just baffling.

What kind of inconsistencies? Everything seemed fine to me.

Ermac switches to Kotal's team as soon as he becomes emperor in the game but he is still with Mileena in the comic preview after she was taken down. That would be the inconsistency there.

Kittelsen said on twitter there'll be explanations. I think that Ermac just went back to Mileena's side as a spy for Kotal.

Then Ermac switching sides immediately when Kotal Kahn takes over is what's canon...

Just finished reading Chapter 21. Here's the weekly summary:

Spoiler:
After the preview, Rain awakens and asks where he is. Mileena explains that he was recovered by the Red Dragon and they are now all safe in the Setian Valley. Rain quickly asks where Reiko is, and when Mileena replies that he is away, the Edenian quickly informs her that her general intends to betray her, having heard the Red Dragons that brought him talk about how Reiko is loyal to Havik. Mileena was told that Havik was just a "spiritual advisor" and could provide sorcery to strengthen their cause, and she asks Ermac if any of the souls in him know of Havik; Ermac responds that the thought of the cleric of chaos stirs confusion and chaos among his souls, and Mileena orders him to gather the Tarkata. They're going to Shang Tsung's island for answers!

Back on the outskirts of Z'Unkahrah, Kotal Kahn has his blade right on top of Kintaro's neck. Kintaro still refuses to surrender and asks Kotal to give him the end that he denied Goro. The Kahn raises his blade, and... sheathes it. Kintaro is outraged at this, but Kotal explains that the Shokan were never his enemies until Goro aligned himself with Reiko and Mileena, and he's always admired their strength. Kotal announces to the Shokan that Mileena and Reiko are their shared enemies, and by fighting each other, they are doing their enemies' work for them. Therefore, they should team up to kill Mileena and Reiko together! Kotal offers Kintaro his hand, and the Shokan warrior accepts, leading to cheers from both sides.

Later, in Kotal's palace, Kotal and his followers meet with the Black Dragon. Kano asks how much he'll be paying them for their assistance against the Shokan, but Kotal replies that he'll be giving none, as Kano owes him a debt for endangering his alliance with Earthrealm. Kano argues that kidnapping Cassie and Jacqui was Erron Black's idea, and that nukes aren't cheap; when Kotal still refuses to budge, Kano brings out the portal stone that he had taken from Erron earlier and suggests Kotal pay up if he wants it back. However, the emperor instead flies into a rage and lunges across the table, decking Kano in the face! As Kotal begins to break Kano's arm, Tremor threatens to bring down the entire palace before he's suddenly shot in the arm and shoulder from behind by Sonya, who also has Johnny with her. Kotal orders D'Vorah to take the Black Dragon to the dungeon, even as Kano flings insults at Kotal, Sonya, and Johnny and suggests he'll be back before too long. Kotal tells Sonya he won't be executing the Black Dragon, and will turn Kano over to Sonya after current matters are dealt with. Kotal informs Sonya and Johnny that he has prepared their ship, and they'll be sailing to Shang Tsung's island tonight. Johnny is surprised to hear that Kotal is coming after all, but the emperor replies that with Reiko and the Red Dragon in an alliance, they need to stand together in their own alliance.

In China's Henan Province, Scorpion and Takeda arrive at the Kang Temple. Takeda asks Hanzo if he ever fought Liu Kang, and when he learns his sensei lost to the monk, he calls him a "bad ass" in awe. The duo is then greeted by the temple's master: Shujinko! As the three all head inside, Shujinko informs Hanzo and Takeda that he cannot give them the Kamidogu of Chaos. Hanzo asks why and explains that the Kamidogu have become corrupted, possessing terrible power that cannot fall into the wrong hands. Shujinko argues, however, that the daggers have already fallen into the wrong hands: Raiden's! Shujinko says that he did not believe it himself until he was given proof by a cleric, and opens a door to reveal Havik! (who seems to be wearing some fake flesh to try to cover up his face's... unique look) Hanzo's eyes then turn white as he very much recognizes Havik...

I'm glad that aren't breaking the canon of the previous games. Shujinko and Havik were pretty much the best of friends in Deceptions.

Raiden probably handed Shujinko one of the Kamidogu so he could avoid Deception's quest.

Smart move. But Shujinko is a fool, he will trust anyone.

Funny that people make Raiden that guy you can't trust, when he is the one that offers the best protection.

Who the hell would trust Havik, for **** sake.

The mere fact that Ermac is on Mileena's side and not Kotal's renders the Komic as non-canon, despite NRS's claims to the contrary.

The mere fact that Kittelsen's said there are explanations coming shows you're wrong, despite your claims to the contrary.

“When you assume, you make an ass out of u and me.” Familiar with that saying?

Only the game is canon, period. The Source Material always takes priority.
