Roster Speculation

If Kotal's dead at any point in MKX and still takes a main roster spot, I'd be pissed.

Same reason I'm not cool with Kitana and Lao yet. I physically saw you die. Stay dead for a little. Jeez.

I see what you mean as far as the dead being brought back from MK9, and I agree 100%, but that wasn't my point.
What you and I are talking about are 2 completely different things.

You're talking about dead characters from the previous game returning, but I'm talking about the possibility that a character that died in the MKX story could still be playable on the main roster.
In MK9 nearly half of the MK9 roster was killed off in story mode, yet they were still playable in MK9.
That's my point.
Getting killed off in MKX Story Mode =/= unplayable, as MK9 has proven in the past.

Guys, when do you think we re going to have the next reveal? I mean NRS don't have much time. If they want to reveal the full roster, They can basically start revealling a character per week and that wouldn't be enough...

Mk9 had 27 characters(not including Kratos) and I believe that we 're going to have at least the same roster capacity. There are at least 13 characters to be revealed and we have almost 9 weeks left (61 day) to release. :hmmmm2:

As do I.

I, personally, hope that at least 5 or 6 out of those 13 left are brand new characters.
I'm hoping for 9 to 10 new characters total.
More new characters would be better, but I'm not holding my breath for more than 9 or 10.

Well, we know Jacqui, Takeda and Erron Black are extremely likely. We also were spoiled another new character utilizing the bow and the casting for the digital series sort of spoiled Kung Lao's cousin. That's 5 right there. I just want two more characters that aren't relatives and are of D'Vorah/Kotal Kahn quality, and I'll be happy.

I can see this being the new character lineup: Cassie, Jacqui, Takeda, Kung Jin, Kotal Kahn, D'Vorah, Ferra/Torr, Erron Black, bow-man.

9 total. And every one is either a Special Forces Earthrealmer of part of Kotal's Krew (assuming bow-man is), which indicates the Outworld storyline will have the biggest focus, since they've created so many new characters for it.

To be honset I expect the starting roster to be 30 characters. Ed Boon said that they are introducing the most new characters than in other mk game, they ever did. He also said that an mk4 fighter will make the cut. Now, if Mileena, Jax,Sonya and Liu Kang make the cut the starting roster is going to be 30 people as I said. Which means that we need 16 more characters to be revealed which means that we could almost have 2 characters revealed per week.

best case scenario is probably 30 indeed, plus the DLC ones, not a bad total number. I think they'll make more DLC this time around as well

Once Again, Here is my new and likely final roster for MKX with the new info. (Guessing it's 28 +Goro and DLC)

[From MK9]
-Sonya Blade
-Johnny Cage
-Lui Kang/Kenshi
-Mileena

[Non-MK9]
-Tanya
-Fujin
-Reiko
-Sareena/Li Mei

[New]
-Jacqui
-Takeda
-Erron Black
-Kung Jin
-Bow Guy
-Netherealm Wraith

I want to bring this up again. Commander

Tell me some of the moves Kitana did in her Royal Storm variation didn't look like stuff Fujin would use.

She throws a tornado at you and spins like a tornado (her projectile parry move).

Between her and Kung Lao, that's a lot of tornado stuff going on.

Again, I'm not saying that deconfirms Fujin, because I believe they are creative enough to come up with more wind stuff, but it wouldn't be a reach to think that his chances are a little lower than they would be if Kung and Kitana didn't have these moves.

original post:
Kitana's fan lifts have been tradition, yes, but I recently read that her fan lift has been made versatile for one of her variations, in the same way as Sub-Zero's clone and Raiden's teleport. I can't find the source again, so I'll just refer you to the stream tomorrow. Maybe we see something. Point is, whatever I read gave me the indication of her fan lifts having properties that I would have associated with Fujin. I think they lift you up in the air for a certain amount of time and/or pull you in from range.

Kung Lao having whirlwinds that a) suck in the opponent and b) can move across the stage (they didn't show this in the stream for some reason, but it was mentioned by some sources - it could have been removed from the game, but I doubt it).

(Edit: It just occurred to me that Ermac's flying variation is also something I'd expect them to give to Fujin. But that might just be me.)

This all seems like stuff I would imagine Fujin having. Tornadoes that lift and hold you up, pull you in, etc, and a Fujin that can turn into a twister and spin across the stage.

I believe NRS is creative enough to make it work nonetheless, but I'm just pointing out that Kitana and Kung Lao have this stuff.

Fujin doesn't use fans for weapons, or anything remotely close to it

Unlockable characters might "slide out" out of one of the slots like with the DLC characters in MK9 and CSZ. Gonna have to wait on that one.

He does use tornadoes.

Indeed he does, but his moveset can be totally changed, there's much stuff you can do with wind.

His tornado was a stunning move, it can be replaced by a move in which he throws wind with dust to the oppontent's face or a move in which he makes him spin rapidly with a hurricane.

I think next week is a sure bet. From now on every week is MKX week. Last week we got the Faction trailer, this week we had the stream and next week I guess is the next reveal trailer. And then we'll have a stream again during the last week of February. Tyler said sooner than we think and last time they said that we had to wait only two weeks. And he also teased that we'll have more streams closer to the launch of the game so they won't let us get bored again. But I don't think they will reveal the full roster and they really shouldn't. A couple surprise faces would be nice for release day. If they reveal a kharacter in every two weeks and then do a stream the following week to show his/her variations, I'll be satisfied.

As far as the starting roster, the new select screen could be the final one. It has a good design, you can see the question mark for the unlockable player, that's in the middle. Then we'll have 24 for starting roster and Goro as pre-order/DLC. Maybe it's a question mark if you didn't pre-order.

Again, as you said, it's not enough to deconfirm Fujin, which was my original point.
If they can greatly vary Kenshi from Ermac in MK9, then they can do the same for Fujin in MKX.
I don't see how this lowers his chances, given NRS ability to greatly differ the characters, and he's the 2nd most popular MK4 character after Quan Chi.
We're never going to see eye to eye on this, so I'll just agree to disagree with you on Fujin's chances.

He does use tornadoes.

You say that as if that's ALL that he uses though.
Let's not forget that FUJIN's MK4 special moves also were:
- Spin Throw
- Levitating the opponent
- Opponent Slam
- Dive Kick
- Flying Knee
- Crossbow
