Resident Evil: Revival Selection Announced

Announced via Famitsu, Revival Selection (or Resident Evil: Revival Selection HD Remastered Version) is a remastered high-definition version of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica, but no other new game elements; it will be released for the PS3 and 360. No additional content has been announced so far; I'll update this thread when more info is released.

Update: Ada Wong’s “Separate Ways” campaign scenario from the PS2 version will be included in the HD version of RE4.

Update #2: Capcom said today it will release Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Code: Veronica X as downloadable titles on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network this Fall. Both titles are receiving high-definition "upgraded visuals." Resident Evil 4 will have all the bonus contain from the previous RE4 releases, including the Separate Ways epilogue, and Trophy and Achievement support. Capcom did not say if Resident Evil Code: Veronica X will also include Trophy and Achievement support. The price for both titles was not revealed at this time.

Also, Revival Selection will be released sometime this Fall on PSN/Xbox Live along with Trophies/Achievements.

Update #5: From Capcom Europe's Blog:
The forthcoming Nintendo 3DS title, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, will ship with a playable demo of Resident Evil Revelations!

While the demo hasn't been confirmed for American copies of Mercenaries 3D, it's hard to imagine that it wouldn't be included.

My pal CVXFREAK from GameFAQs fame told me... Can't wait. Code Veronica is my favorite RE, although it is not a popular choice.

Not a popular choice indeed (the start of the series' decline in quality), but it's aged well from a flow/structure aspect. JPN DC version through VGA is more than adequate, so hopefully this collection is done well with worthy upgrades to the visuals.

I'm surprised you haven't joined Biohaze if you're acquainted with CVX. Can't imagine you're the type who posts on current day GameFAQs, and I think he stopped posting there around 5-6 years ago as did a number of people from the RE community.

Though not many of the old community members post much. In fact, Rombie of RE Fan just informed us that he's closed the long running site.

It's been a helluva 15 year ride with many ups and downs. I just wish this collection included REmake and Zero. Alas, those pre-rendered backgrounds do require a lot more work to look acceptable in HD.
 
The only one I havent played was Code:V. I'd rather see RE2 and RE3 redone. RE4 is much to new to already be considered for a re release or re vamp.

i have been a RE fan just as long as i was an MK fan!!!

i cant wait to play these games in better motion and higher pixels

As crazy as it sounds, I stray from message boards. This is the lone exception. I wrote an Onimusha 2 FAQ with CVXFREAK back in the day... Good times. I'd also love to see the REmake resurface, as it truly was fantastic... Not a fan of Zero at all, however. I'd love to see a collection on the PS360 containing RE1-CVX with the REmake bundled in. I'd happily pay $60 for that, simply for the extras and achievements.
 
WOW! That's awesome news! I'm so excited for this! I remember having a ps2 and being so jealous of the dreamcast getting Cv before.

That would be fantastic. I'd love to see RE1 redone on the ps3. I know it's been redone to death, one more time couldn't hurt. I think it should be a generational thing. So no one forgets where survival horror started haha. Especially with all of the action based RE's now. As much as I love them, they are no where NEAR the first one and how scary it is. They just got the ambiance right. Hell, I'd go so far as to say that they should put the original soundtrack in. Not a damn thing should change with the soundtrack. It could make anything and anywhere scary. At least that's what I think.
 
Absolutely loved Code Veronica, as well as the first 3. RE4 was pretty good, RE5 can get out of here. I don't need no one to hold my hand, got hella annoying!

I post once in a while here and Biohaze myself, so I can relate. Realistically, I think the GC games have a better chance since the realtime assets have aged surprisingly well, but the PS1 games would need BC Rearmed style overhauls.

Remember, this is Capcom so value is out of the question. It's the same company that priced RE2-CV on GC for $30 in 2003, and chose to release REmake and Zero separately on Wii. Crazy.

The DLC for RE5 made me sad, as it reminded me how scary the series used to be, and how terrifying it can be in a co-op environment... I'd love to have a co-op RE2 remake, with one player using Claire and the other Leon, choosing the scenarios (first playthrough or second with Mr. X chasing you). Ugh, that'd be so amazing...

Unfortunately, I didn't get to see or play the dlc for it. Yeah, or a re-release of 2 and 3 in the style you said. Obviously in 3 it'd be Jill and Carlos with Nemesis chasing. It would be really great to see. I mean, as sick as I am of zombie games and movies, a new remake of an old re would be more than welcome.

REMake and RE0? Are you people serious? REMake was meh and RE0 was just plain bad, what a pile of garbage.

RE1 (the original PS1 version, BEST RE GAME EVER) and RE2 need to be HD.

Whaaat? I agree with you on re1 being the best one, but REmake wasn't bad! I was honestly kind of more scared of it. Never played RE0, but it never looked very good.
