Resident Evil: Revival Selection Announced

You're lucky, RE0 is trash, imo!

REMake was scary and I liked how Forest had a bit of a bigger part in it (he was friggin scary, just appearing out of nowhere!) but I guess being a huge RE1 fangirl, I didn't like how they changed the first one....I liked how they kept some of it the same and Yawn looked a zillion times better (and the fight was awesome!) but I thought the overall game was meh :/

REMake and RE0? Are you people serious? REMake was meh and RE0 was just plain bad, what a pile of garbage.

Good thing you added the IMO in the second post, since I've played garbage, and Zero was far from it. Superman 64 was garbage, RE Gaiden was garbage, but Zero was a well done, albeit dated content-wise. The game design was untouched from Kamiya's that he set up in 1999 for the N64 original. I can understand why the lack of item box structure turned off people, but the game otherwise was great... aside from the story (then again, RE's plot overall is comparable to a Bollywood movie). Once you beat it once and get the infinite weapons, it's smooth sailing. Great soundtrack too (Kobuchi is at Platinum too now)

REmake however was fantastic, and aged very well. However, I think the original is better since REmake did streamline the scenario route and a more challenging game (particularly if you dabble in Arrange with Chris). I became more appreciative of it in recent times because it really pushed the original series forward, and was a mere remake. The whole Crimson Heads bit, with defense items did keep me on my toes with every difficulty replay. I wanted this on PS3/360 particularly because of the audio. Sadly, the music was downsampled on the GC and the untouched tracks from the Chronicle box sound so much better.

RE2 is still my favorite given what it was for its time, and turned the series into a landmark franchise. Still, none of the PS1 game will work in HD without a graphical overhaul.

of all the RE games i've played , i loved all of them, i'm glad we get HD versions of CVX and RE4, hope the quality is as good as the Tomb Raider Legend/anniversary versions for PS3, which has new textures, lighting, colors, bump maps and upgraded character models, i can't wait

Resident Evil: Code Veronica needs to have decapitations. Besides having the game in HD, they could at least take the time to have decapitations in the game for people that are willing to spend money on the game.

Wow, getting a bit snippy over an opinion, that's hilarious!

Anyways, anyone here actually a fan of Steve? I hated that kid.

Seems it came out that way but the intention was just making a case for unfairly criticized entry in the series.

And no, the entire CV cast with the exception of the Redfields was bad as was the story. The miraculous return of Wesker, the cross dressing pea brain and so forth. To be fair, the story was topped off by Zero's resurrection of Marcus.

Sweet, will have to get it when its released.

Resident Evil 1 and 2 were my favorites, and thanks for reminding me of the Outbreak games. They were fun, with the online play of 4 people. Played them alot boss rush was always sweet.

I wish they would remake RE 2 and RE 3

I doubt we'll get a remake of RE2 and RE3. The closest thing we'll get to it is Umbrella/Darkside Chronicles. But a man can dream right?

Anyways, anyone here actually a fan of Steve? I hated that kid.

Steve is probably my least favorite character out of the RE series. "Claire...I love you". Wut? He's known her for like 3 days lol. I didn't care for CVX anyways.

You beat me to it lol; I'll just add some more of the info Capcom released today into the opening post along with the screenshots.

On another note, one trend I've noticed is that before the next big game in a series comes out, companies remaster the old game in HD and add a few new features. Some examples: God of War Collection preluding God of War 3, Splinter Cell HD Trilogy pack preluding the already mentions Splinter Cell 6, Beyond Good and Evil HD preluding the inevitable (in my opinion) announcing of Beyond Good and Evil 2. With the already persistent rumors of another RE game (Resident Evil: Raccoon City) spreading around, perhaps Revival Selection is a sign that Resident Evil 6 is in the works? Just something I've noticed lately and thought I should share with you all.

My problem with RE0 above everything else was the storage system. That really turned out to be the thing to crumble the foundation of the game, taking a feature reserved by most standards as the "hardcore" difficulty setting and implementing it into the game's core gameplay. It's my least favorite Resident Evil, which is to say an average to above average experience.

REmake, however, has aged incredibly well. Just played it not too long ago. I understand Jade's point of view, though I find it ironic that we are talking about remakes tarnishing the elder game's reputation on a message board where we are all excited about a remake to a game series that we love.

Fair enough. The RE1 remake unlike the MK reboot was blessed because Mikami directed it once again, even adding the prototype mode of the original RE that was met with heavy criticism in 95 (real survivor mode).

I still prefer the original PS1 trilogy by a mile, but I'd recommend the REmake for any newcomers to series. It aged well, and represents the series' survival and horror elements extremely well.

Update added to opening post: Images showing off the HD difference. Also, (unsurprisingly) Revival Selection will be released in North America with Trophies/Achievements sometime his Fall.

Update #5 added to opening post; Resident Evil Revelations demo included with copy of Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D; demo not confirmed for American copies at the moment, but highly likely it will (in my opinion).

Update #6 added to opening post. RE4 HD gameplay clip; it definitely looks better than the original.
