Spider-Man 1

8/10

Best spider man movie IMO.

haha, that movie is so cheesy and dated now, but I'll still forever love it.
Its dumb lines are really quotable too.

However I always thought that last fight with Goblin in the chapel suddenly took a dark turn and was badass.
Even if he looked like a power rangers villain the whole movie, somehow he turned actually pretty f'n sadistic and intimidating there in the end. "MJ and I, we're goin' have a...HELLUVA TIME!"

Spider-Man 2 was okay, but I didn't like how spider-man lost his powers because he was having an emotional breakdown over Mary Jane.

It wasn't just over Mary Jane. It was also because he was having trouble balancing his dual life as a superhero and as a normal person himself, plus for the fact for being indirectly responsible for his uncle's untimely demise. He was having trouble with his personal demons overall.

Kick-Ass 2

9/10

I'm probably biased, but I thought it was awesome. It didn't have the same humor as KA1 did, but it was still funny and the action scenes were a lot better. I also like that they didn't change too much from the comic aside from the obvious stuff they had to change since it'd bring a lot of unnecessary negativity. Definitely gonna go and watch it again; tbh I enjoyed way more than I did Man of Steel, but that's just me.

Jim Carrey doe

Spoiler:
I know how you feel; every scene he was in he was THE BEST PART. "Yeeeah thatz a dog on ya bawls" still cracks me up  I wish he had a bigger role but that would mean they'd have to change too much, which I personally would have been cool w/ since Carrey did such an awesome job.

Yeah, they just make you love him and his character, then kill him off.

Which is accurate to the comics, but still...he was so awesome :l

Rush [Directed by Ron Howard] - 9.5/10

Let me preface this by saying that most movies about motorsport are garbage (Le Mans and Grand Prix both are exceptions), and that I was very apprehensive about this one. Rush is about the 1976 Formula 1 World Championship season, and the intense rivalry between James Hunt (UK/GB) and Niki Lauda (Austria), and an era when Formula 1 Grand Prix racing was much more hazardous and unsafe.

Beyond just the sheer awesomeness of historic F1 cars, with their sights and sounds, the movie is a masterwork. This is Chris Hemsworth's best acting, and he shows that he can become a person thoroughly and do more than just swing around a hammer and smash coffee cups while looking pretty. The human drama and passion brought out by people putting their lives and livelihood on the line in motorsport is done so well here, all the more so because this was a true story. The cinematography was very, very evocative of the time it was set, while still looking fresh and not cheesy. Faithful attention to detail (use of real, historic Formula cars, and real tracks) in addition to really nuanced acting brought this story to life. The portion with Lauda's crash and recovery was both chilling and difficult to watch in its realism (and I'm generally not squeamish). It reminds you that life is in fact fragile, but that the determination of the human spirit should never be underestimated.

I'd give the movie a 10/10 if it had slightly longer scenes of racing, especially since they had access to many period Formula cars from the '76 season. Absolutely amazing movie.

Freyith, I was going to skip that movie until I saw your review above. Knowing you're a big F1 fan, I figured if you liked it then it must have been good. Saw it yesterday and you're so right. Excellent film. Thanks for the recommendation.

Battle of the Year

9/10

Spoiler:
Team USA should've won at the end because one of the team members of the Korean team (the leader) was arrogant (the character that is) and he didn't even hug or do anything to say "good job" to team USA. All that Korean leader did was just jump up and down with happiness. At least the rest of his teammates were nice enough to congratulate USA. So Korea came in first place and USA came in second place.

Glad you enjoyed it! It's a pretty awesome movie that stands on its own merits, I think. Ron Howard is a pretty ace director. A lot of the camera angles and shots in that movie are cream-of-the-crop cinema.
