Rain DESERVES a Spot in the Roster over Quan Chi

Okay it's true that quan had a lot to do with the development of new characters and a MAJOR side plot with scorpion and sub-zero.
that
The problem I have with peoples comments is that they say that Rain is a character that has no major relevance to the story. Well guess what, there are quite a few characters that have no real relevance to the original trilogy's storyline.

Lets see:

Stryker
Jax
Kabal
reptile

There are others but my point is these characters are only side characters and have no big contribution to the story. So why not put in Rain when for the nostalgia factor he was ACTUALLY THERE in the original games in the 90's as a PLAYABLE character unlike Quan Chi.

I do like Quan-Chi, I think he's an awesome character. But for nostalgia purposes he isn't needed in this game and should have been replaced with Rain in the starting roster. Quan should have been DLC. Why not just put Quan in the cutscenes like they did in MKvDC.

Difference between Rain and Reptile/Jax/Kabal was that these characters was that these characters are way more popular than Rain ever was, so they had to include him. Reptile has been in the MKverse since the very first game and is regarded as one of the most popular hidden secrets ever in gaming. Jax along with Kitana and Kabal was one of the more popular new characters to play as As for Stryker, they've been trying to make Stryker more universally liked for a while now, and he was technically supposed in MK1 and MK2, so they have a bit more of an obligation to him than they do Rain.

Just be happy he's even going to be DLC, considering he was a joke character and didn't even have any real story prominence until Armageddon (which, of course, included every single fighter/boss ever in the MKverse as playable characters).

Just so you know, the last paragraph was directed towards the author of this thread, not you, genesis72.

Quan Chi in MK4(important in that) and also in MK:sub-zero shows he was there even before the first tournament that alone should end this convo. And they have enough stuff in the game to give that nostalgia feel you seek. Why not do a poll?

Sure, Rain was in trilogy, but with their idea to renew everything its best to hit they're strong storys and focus on developing a lesser story down the road. It's clear they're pulling out a lot of stops here to make this game epic. Rain is something that they can develop later to help sustain this awesome.

Rains costume in MKA was the best he had. Hes a prince! He should look like one! And purple is an awesome color. Now the roster is final. So while i disagree with him being DLC, Quan Chi will make it more interesting for the story. Rain will be a popular DLC, which will rack in $ for NRS

He may be in MKTrilogy, but he wasn't in THE MK Trilogy. MK 1-3, and that means the arcade versions. Not ports neither Boon or Tobias worked on. He started as a joke, and we're getting him as DLC one way or another.

He's not a terrible character, but considering especially that his story had to be retconned, after his initial appearance, I wouldn't say he's as integral to the story as people think.

I'm not hating him as a character. I actually dig his story quite a bit, but considering we are almost positive he'll be dlc, I don't see the point in raising a fuss about it.

As far as 'deserves' goes. He's a fictional character. He doesn't deserve anything. If you believe that YOU 'deserve' to play as Rain, throw out the extra coinage and download 'im. We're lucky we get to play as him at all, what with over 25 characters in this beast already.

oh trust me i'll be first in line to download him. I would love to see his original moves not that garbage water powers crap from armageddon.

Moves like the Round-the-World roundhouse kick, the control orb that let you move the opponent where ever you wanted(think of the juggle opportunities this move would bring) and the overhead lightning attack that knocked you up in the air for an opportunity to juggle even more. Man rain would be a juggle combo beast in this game with those moves.

And btw I dont think Noob was a playable character in the first three games. He first became playable in Trilogy

You guys are talking about who was playable in the games MK1-3... but you need to take into account of what happened "Outside" of the games. If you think about the story of those games, and use logic, you would understand why Rain isn't in and why who is in is and why who isn't in isn't.

I'm not hating on Rain or anything, I like all MK Characters and think they all should have a shot at making a comeback; however, as far as the story from MK1-3 and the story for MK9 goes, it makes sense that Rain isn't in. Also, this post isn't aimed at any individual. I know I said "you guys" but I'm not referring to anybody specific.

EDIT: And whether you like the story or not isn't really important, because the story is what decides who is in and who isn't.

Lol araknyd, whoelse you gunna use besides noob? I know hes your favorite n all. Johnny Cage became a favorite of mine now when i played the demo. So Im gunna be looking at Reptile, Johnny, and Ermac.

I'm a big Rain fan but Quan Chi definitely deserves the spot his storyline goes way back regardless if he wasn't playable in the initial games.

I am getting good with Sub-Zero little by little.
Got him up to about a 7-hit combo.
Johnny Cage is also a lot of fun to play with.
I didn't realize, until recently, that his X-Ray is defensive and not offensive.

Quan Chi is much more interesting IMO, he shoots skulls from his hands, he summons skeletons and demons, he's bald, he probably has the most influential story other than Shao Kahn and Raiden, and he rips off legs and beats people with them.

Rain is ok, he never stood out to me.

I disagree Rain deserves a spot in the roster over Sheeva

Uh nooo. Sheeva belongs in this game. Along with Rain. Quan Chi? Not so much. Maybe as a secret character... but if he's taking a spot on the roster - that's a bit intrusive. Rain is more deserving.

And don't say "Rain has no story... He's pointless... blah blah blah" cause the response is one of this "no shit" responses.

Give him story. Give him purpose. It has been done in the past with other characters. Such a thing isn't alien to the series. My lord...

Rain is going to get his chance. I would almost bet my MK Addiction on it. Just not in this game.
