Rain DESERVES a Spot in the Roster over Quan Chi

Quan Chi is actually relevant to the future plot. Rain, despite being from the original Trilogy, is less relevant to anything because he is mainly a side character. He had no strong connections to the main storyline until Armageddon.

Spoiler:
Even if Rain was in this game, he would have absolutely nothing to do with it because the only characters that are essential to the plotline are Raiden, Shao Kahn, Liu Kang, and Sub-Zero. Everyone else could just disappear and nothing would really change. Quan Chi however, forms somewhat of a bridge between the MK1-3 storyline and the MK4 storyline.

I definitely disagree.

Sure Rain betrays Kitana and is a general for Shao Kahn, but that's not really an important part of the story, or a big one. That's literally all Rain has amounted to from MK:T-MK:A. It's nothing big, and it definitely isn't a huge factor in the main plot. He's probably the least important character from MK1-MKT.

Quan Chi is tied in with multiple major characters in the game, and his involvement has a much greater importance and impact than Rain's. Quan Chi killed Scorpion's family/clan and Scorpion himself. Brought Scorpion back as a spectre to use him, tricked Scorpion into thinking it was Bi-Han who had killed all of them. Scorpion believes him and kills Bi-Han. So now we get Noob Saibot and young Sub-Zero. Young Sub-Zero is out for vengeance against Scorpion for killing his brother. Noob is on the loose wreacking havoc under Quan Chi's orders as a part of the Brotherhood of the Shadow. Plus, you then have Quan and Shinnok's partnership and their plans to take over from the Netherrealm.

Now, can you honestly tell me Rain has more of a story importance than Quan Chi? You are in denial if you think so.

Rain is better suited as DLC, which he will likely be. He wasn't originally a part of MK1-3, so he isn't needed. Quan Chi may not have been either, but his story begins before MK1 takes place, and he has a lot of influence in MK1-3. So it makes sense why he would be included over Rain.

EDIT:
Good post.

It was WAY better than what I wrote ;-)

I'd have liked Rain to have got a spot but he really isn't more deserving then Quan Chi. I think he's pretty much guaranteed to be amongst the first DLC characters though so I'm not too bothered!

Id still really like Rain to make the cut but dlc is fine and no I dont want him replacing Quan Chi.

Quan Chi is too important throughout all the MKs and hes my favorite character behind Sub-Zero(Bi Han)

as my avatar shows, Rain is my favorite. now, there are tons of ways to look at this. there are those who are so hooked up on the story of the game and if you look at it that way no matter how lame the story overall is, quan chi does have a better role than Rain. then there's the subjective liking of each of us and I obviously prefer Rain to quan chi. btw for those who claimed he's a palette swap, get real, no one is a palette swap anymore, especially in THIS game. now, I just wanna say that I still believe Rain will make the final cut despite what boon said about him being DLC (you'll get the rains or whatever he said) because a) he wasn't in the temple stage in recent pics, b) they said the full roster will be revealed on april 19th and c) because if boon said the 300th challenge is worth it then I sure as hell won't believe his statement about Rain now :P other than that, there's also d) which is that we already have a mortal kombat trilogy except for 4 characters, Motaro, unmasked Subzero, robot Smoke and Rain. out of those we know unmasked subzero is pointless, robot smoke is pointless since smoke will be human and he will definitely be dlc or an alternate (btw I love smoke, I say pointless because smoke is in as human for the starting roster), Motaro uhh.. yeah I don't wanna spoil it for his fans and then there's Rain who does make sense to be in.. that achievement about 'you found me' reminds me of you can find Rain in the graveyard so.. yeah I still believe he'll be in even as a secret character of some sort.

I'd not hold my breath if I were you. DLC = most likey... Secret = possibly... Starting roster = don't think it's gonna happen.

Ahhh I was going to write something like that. I will rep you for that tho.

oh yeah I don't believe he'll be in the select screen, that's for sure. we all know the select screen's roster now, I'm confident though he'll be unlockable/secret somehow and maybe you'll have to pull a little trick off on the select screen to get him and play. kinda like sonya's trick holding up and another button on mk trilogy to unlock the stages.. something like that, after unlocking him.

+1 total facts.

Why do people keep talking like they know what the Challenge Tower's Epic Reward is?

uhh from the leaks, we 'know' what the reward is. if it IS that indeed, what boon said about it being worth it was a complete lie. well, it is worth it if you're like 12 or a pervert. I don't know about it though.. on one hand it being the reward makes boon completely untrustworthy and increases my hope for Rain to be in initially and not as DLC and on the other hand personally I don't believe THIS was the reward indeed. I think they knew the files would be leaked and made sure we saw this as the final reward while the truth is, it's something else

Holy shit I hope that's not the reward because if that's what I unlock, I'm putting the controller down, vomiting, and walking away from MK.

I know right.. but idk dude, I really can't believe they would do that to the fans.. doing 300 freaking challenges for THAT? hell no. anyway back on the topic, Rain is in, everyone be positive. :P

That could just be ONE of the rewards.
For all we know, it may not be the ONLY reward.

I don't think a nudie costume would work out well for them anyway, so I don't ACTUALLY believe they did that.
And I hope Rain is in too. He's fun to play as.

true true.. there could be more or they could have put it there on purpose because they knew the files would leak imo. btw I also hate the fact they gave Rain's best move imo (the lightning strike) to freaking nightwolf -.- seeing how everyone turned out to be though, I doubt any character could disappoint in terms of design in the new mk. well.. mokap and bo rai cho excluded :P
