Okay before i show u who made the top 10, think of a couple of bands that you think should be in the top 10... (This is from Kerrang! magazine btw)

Okay now brace yourself...

Here it comes....

Metallica
Green Day
Iron Maiden
Slipknot
My Chemical Romance
Linkin Park
Bullet For My Valentine
Blink 182
Ozzy Osbourne
Foo Fighters

Wtf man...

I can agree with with Metallica and Iron Maiden being on there

but the rest is like :bird:

No Radiohead, Nirvania, Pearl Jam, Muse, or GNR!!

You could even make an argument for RATM....

Slipknot??? My chemical romance???? Get the F*** outta here..

I disregarded everything when I didn't see Boston.
Rage against the machine could be in there to.
But greenday? WTF?

Kerrang.. actually any publication that isn't Under the Radar I think it's called shouldn't be taken seriously

also Pearl Jam, Muse, and GnR didn't influence shit

neither did RATM

also all three are just as terrible every band listed

my list:

Radiohead
Slint
Weezer
Thursday
Nirvana
Pavement
Judas Priest
Bathory
Sunny Day Real Estate

those bands actually influenced people, and influences can still be heard today

did I pick some personal favorites? of course, but all of them have had a profound effect on their respective genres. you could also make an argument for slayer, minor threat, and death as well

I like slipknot, but dont think they deserved to be on there. But if you guys dont think Ozzy influenced the metal genre, then your all idiotsXD

he popularized it.

very different.

bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden (along with the whole NWOBHM movement) influenced guys like Ozzy, he turned it into a goldmine

Metallica <- epic
Green Day <- meh
Iron Maiden <- I HATE them but I do recognize their work
Slipknot <- like em quite some
My Chemical Romance <- gtfo
Linkin Park <- after meteora, anything they did is just.. AWFUL
Bullet For My Valentine <- gtfo
Blink 182 <- who?
Ozzy Osbourne <- never liked Ozzy much :/
Foo Fighters <- meh

I stopped reading after u said weezer.....

You got a face it though, Slipknot made extreme metal accessible to angsty kids. Even Slayer didn't have the appeal Slipknot did in the late 90's. And while Slipknot is Nu-Metal and later became more melodic but still far from quality, it was the purest aggression that big media would allow packaged and sold on a grand scale. They marketed themselves to kids by being anti-everything and just pure action and anger. They even adopted some sinister imagery, all of which was more "American" than say Gorgoroth... and once kids got bored with that they craved more anger and heaviness, so they moved onto death/black metal and older American bands. It was a pretty successful gig and definitely deserved some sort of recognition.

The only thing correct about that list is Ozzy and, as much as I hate them, Iron Maiden. Otherwise, what a load of absolute garbage.

this list sucks except for ozzy, metallica, and iron maiden. i actually like MCR(own all there albums) and blink 182 and linkin park(atleast there work up to the meteora album) but they haven't beem around long enough to of had any real influence on anything. also WHY NO NIRVANA WTF!!!!
