Good zoner. Her fans can catch an opponent mid air or in the ground. They also let her approac for juggles.
Decent medium mix ups and some safe strings.
Deadly B+1, which is good to start combos.
Good wake up options.
She can throw several fans in the same combo, not allowing the opponent to break it.
Overall she's a pretty good character who always gives me trouble to fight against.

Kitana , 8.

She is very good, incredible good default chain combos, and a hell of foxy pressure game in corners. Her fans are hard to dispute against in projectiles war. Her X-Ray is useful and can fool a distracted opponent.

She has a pretty incredible zoning game. As well as great AA game with fan lift, SB, or her fans. 2 of those set up for combos as well! She can whip out some crazy damage with 1 or two bars, not to mention three. Some of her on-the-ground combo starters are a little slow and predictable, but not too much.

+ zoning
+ good corner game
+ AA game
+ really nice damage
+ unbreakable combos
- a little predictable (excluding her few mixups OFC)
- can lose her share of zoning/projectile wars (though not frequently)
 
Kitana - 8

Kitana really does have some good variety from what i have seen as well as some excellent combo and punish potential. Her fans are great, square wave punch is awesome, and overall she is very fast and mobile. I think her mix up is lacking though and i think her variety of moves kind of dampens having a truly really solid strength. I think she is great though
 
Kitana = 9

The fact that she can land huge kombos without even touching her opponent is pretty rare among the rest of the roster. Her fans are one of the best projectiles in the game. She even has a decent up close game.
 
Kitana sits at 8 to me. She can dish out huge combos that are almost entirely unbreakable. Great zoning and anti-air game and very solid mobility. My pizza just arrived so I'll have to come back and fill out my post afterward lol.

EDIT: Her rushdown game is a bit weak to me, but she can use it in a pinch to get back to her ideal range. She's got some strong zoning and can get out of trouble well with her Square Wave (which has fantastic priority in the air). However, her normals are pretty slow and characters like Sub-Zero and Reptile can cause some problems with her keepaway game.

Kitana: 8

+otg projectile.
+Can get high damaging and unbreakable combos.
+D1 is godlike.
+Her pokes have good range.
-Her pokes have slow start up.
-She has quite a few bad matchups.
-She struggles to get in vs characters that get around her otg fans.


She's very good but not top. Mileena is 8.5 or 9 imo. So I give Kitana an 8.

Initially everyone thought Kitana was the best female based on her high damaging combos and her safe gtfo special moves, but as people spend more time learning the characters and the matchups people seem to realize that Jade and Mileena are better.

It think that's cool. It shows the game is evolving and has more depth than some people think.

Skarlet is S tier with her dagger cancel lockdown trick. But once she loses that it's gonna be different. Too soon to really know where Skarlet will end up on the tier list, but I think she's overall better than Kenshi.

I'm really hoping we start seeing good Jades in the tournaments (or just anywhere), I've thought people have been sleeping on her for quite awhile now. She can give people serious headaches. Jade is the only character that makes me nervous when I see them selected. Not many inexperienced players pick her and good Jade's give my Sub-Zero serious shit.

I completely agree aside from skarlet being s tier because i dont know enough about her to begin with... this being said same probably goes for a lot more people so hopefully the dlc characters are are chosen for ratings last so people actually can give a close to solid opinion on them.

Kenshi is better than Skarlet. I know because I tried to main both and I decided to drop Skarlet and keep Kenshi in my list, so I know pretty well the tools of both characters.

What are you talking about? Why are they so bad? I've been messing around with Sonya recently, and found that she has an excellent rushdown, decent anti-air and anti-zoning, and some good mixups. And don't even get me started on Mileena.

I can tell you what subzeros do to make me sweat if you want. in PM. but I will tell you some random Jade strengths so you know what to expect.

Jade may not be able to mix you up UP close. But she is extremely dangerous to attack. All of her EXspecials have armor frames on them and all of them can be combo'd off of (except her command staff grab). Most of her unsafe strings can be made safe by cancelling into command grab which pushes the opponent far enough away they can't punish you.

Her Up+3 has ridiculous priority and beats alot of wake up options. Only really fast specials can punish it at full distance. Her Down back 2, staff overhead can be blocked on reaction from low block to high block. BUT the real strength in that move is it's beginning jump animation, and the range it has on it. Not to mention Jades staff is disjointed meaning it's not considered a part of her hurtbox.

Jade's enhanced kick can go through ICEBALL AND ICE CLONE AT THE SAME TIME. and if you're in the corner Jade can combo off her enhanced kick(or normal) into a 1,2 1,2 1,2,2 combo for like 24%. You can do a move instantly out of enhanced shadow glow. enhanced shadow glow along with Enhanced Down back 2(overhead). When you get good at calling out when your opponent will go offensive will give you a free 30%ish combo. Or they have to breaker.

Back to why the jumping animation in jade's Down back 2 (Staff overhead) is so good. It can jump over as high enough to get over projectiles. I use this move when I smell a spear or a freeze or shang shung's or even noob saibot's shadow charge coming. and Jade will hop over it and hit them even with the normal version. not to mention this move beats out sweeps because you jump over the sweep with DB2. (Sup mileena you sweeping princess).

Jade's Down3 spam is good and JUST when your opponent is finally safe to let go of block or attack you becaue you're out of range. An up3 will usually hit them out of any attempt they make once they believe they are safe from Down3 spam.

shadow kick is fast and safe on block, only punish-able by ducking w/o blocking. which if you're expecting it. gives me time to pressure with DB2/UP3 ect.

Most of her game is spacing you out and calling you out when you go on the offensive so she can counter you with her Enhanced specials and dig that 30% damage combo.

also I don't think there is a single character who can actually ZONE jade w/o being outzoned. even though her boomerangs are slow you can always negate 1 projectile with glow and throw your own projectile. even if they block your hit. You build meter from glow and the projectile. and a Jade with meter is dangerous so you're forced to approach.

Nah, besides I was more defending Sonya with my post. I'm starting to think she's a really good character.

Take in count that I said least good, I didnt say bad, I think Mileena is better than Stryker for example (in gameplay) and more fun than Shang Tsung. But sonya, she has no salvation to me, as a character she is too generic to me, "too human".
