Go Cards!

Do you think theres a chance Pujols will leave the Cards after this year? As interesting of a story it would be imo, I'd like it if he'd stayed in Arizona; you know, be one of those rare players that plays his whole career with one team.

Red sox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time to see if Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez lead the Red Sox to a playoff birth or even better; it'll be interesting to see.

Cubs! Can't wait for the season to start tomorrow!
I like Ryan Dempster a lot, and bringing in Matt Garza definitely was a good move; I hope the Cubs are at least in contention this year, it'll be good to see them give the Cards and Reds a challenge.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Cubs finally get back up there. They're definitely due for theirs.

Re: The MLB season is upon us! (MLB general discussion)

As long as Marmol keeps blowing saves, the Cubs may not have a season at all. Wood looks to be in good form as a reliever though.

Cubs / Brewers tomorrow; the battle for I-94. Hopefully the bullpen doesn't blow any more games anytime soon.

I see him staying with the team but without much of a discount... 9 years/275m. It will hurt the team, so I'm torn on the idea, but keeping a guy like Albert with a single team is something you cannot put a price tag on.

As a Cubs fan, I'd love to see him at the very least move out of the NL Central. If he can go to the American League at all, I'd be even happier.

Very true, Pujols is one of those rare transcendent players in the MLB. I'm sure the Cardinals are thinking, "Keep him at all costs now." The funny thing is, even without Pujols, I can still see the Cardinals being a good team, you know, the opposite of the Cleveland Cavs situation. Hopefully Pujols will stay in St Louis.

The Padres traded Adrian Gonzalez to the Red Sox during the offseason for three top-tier prospects; Adrian also wanted a contract extension, so the Red Sox got that done as well. The Padres thought they wouldn't be able to keep Adrian after his contract went out, so they decided to trade him for value.

I liked Ozzie Guillen alot, but after seeing his E:60 interview, I love that guy! I love how blunt he his and the way he thinks.

Re: The MLB season is upon us! (MLB general discussion)

Wow, the Cubs and White Sox never fail to amaze me with their "We're out of the playoff hunt by May" style of play. Not just losing, but losing big, it's really pitiful.

Re: The MLB season is upon us! (MLB general discussion)

You can tell from my gamerpic in my sig that I'm a Pirates fan, and this year has really been encouraging. Our pitching staff seems much improved (due to new pitching coach Ray Searage) and Clint Hurdle is really instilling enthusiasm. The most noticable difference is that they've been competitive in nearly every game this season. There's only been 2 or 3 real blowouts, everything's been within a run or two.

The only alarming thing is that they have been surprisingly worse at home, they were a .500 team at home last season and collapsed on the road. So far seems to have fixed the road issues but hopefully not at the expense of home games.

Re: The MLB season is upon us! (MLB general discussion)

I know that no-hitters should be celebrated and all that, but Liriano's no-no was... well, kinda hard to acknowledge. I'll give him credit though, even with all the walks he still went through a 9 inning game without allowing a hit. Verlander didn't have as many strikeouts, but what was awesome about his (imo) was his fastball speed. It only went up as the innings continued! That's pretty awesome. I wonder who'll pitch the next no-no; my money is on Felix Hernandez, Tim Lincecum, or Dan Haren.

Re: The MLB season is upon us! (MLB general discussion)

^^ meh, sometimes no-hitters are pitched by unlikely dudes that have a great day too. My money's on the next one coming from someone nobody expects.

Re: The MLB season is upon us! (MLB general discussion)

Thats true Love Cowboy, like the pitcher (Phil Humber) that almost had a no-no against the Yankees. The pitchers you expect the least from usually do have the best chance of pitching no-nos.

On another note, how about the Cleveland Indians? They're playing pretty well, even though they're currently on a losing streak. The pitching has been pretty good and its good to see Sizemore back in the lineup (though he's been injured a few times this year).
