I was also not interested in anime, until i made a deal with my friend . I told him to watch MLP and he told me to watch death note. Death note had some really good twists and was awesome. I like animes with realistic series. I just finished code geass, now that has a really sad, meaningful ending
I would really appreciate it if u guys could name some other animes that have very little humor and a more serious tone like death note and code geass

But after that i will check Darker than Black and Full Metal Alchemist. And Havok i really appreciate the picture, but sadly he didn't become a brony but i still got one of my other real life friends to like it

Cowboy Bebop (Don't think I've ever met anyone who didnt' like it)

Ergo Proxy ( To be honest hit and miss with alot of people, I enjoyed it though.)

Anything with ninja or samurai. Usually u can't go wrong. Also most things by go nagai or yoshiaki kawajiri. Like all of the devil mans or getter robot. Mazinkaiser skl. Curry honey. Ninja scroll. Demon city shinjuku. Wicked city. Gokuu the midnight eye. Vampire hunter d. Just to name a few. Toyoo ashida animes are good too

The only thing out there about Porco Rosso is the fact the protagonist is a pig. It's really subdued compared to most of Miyazaki's works.

I wouldn't call Grave of the Fireflies bizarre in any sense. It could have been an live action feature instead of an animated film.

I like to watch many different animes also. Right now i'm reading a bunch of manga cause I haven't found a good anime to watch yet
