So, the sound effects and voices will be re-recorded or just remixed?
Well, that explains why the announcer I heard didn't sound anything like the MK1 announcer. They're redoing it with all-new sound effects. If you check back a bit, you can hear some of the recordings for the announcer -- the guy a very good Boon impersonation. Also, if you watch the videos of the project in motion you can hear some of the new sound effects as they are being put to use.
I'd say that we are just over 52% complete.
Both Scorp Endings are Completed
Both Sub Endings are Completed etc.
The attempt at the new announcer and sound effects could have been better in my opinion.
Tom, Get us better voice actors then. No one cares what you think if you aren't helping to improve this project. Criticizing what has been done is a total waste of time. In fact I am wasting my time replying to your post.

Seeing how a polite, clearly personal opinion like this
merits a flipout like this from you
only goes to confirm that you are simply incapable of handling anything that remotely resembles criticism without entering defensive shit-throwing mode.
Leaves one wondering what people dealing with you in real life have to go through.
It was my understanding at the time that the new announcer and voices were a trial thing, that they were still a WIP. I thought I would mention my opinion on the matter since the talk about percentage finished came up and it was listed as finished. I feel the same way about the voices/sounds as the sonya models (they need more work). When the clips with the new announcer were shown on stream on twitch to the pro MK players the first thing they all said was how "you guys need to work on the voices"
I'm not the only one with this opinion. I'm not trying to criticize finished assets. I just had no idea that the voices were considered "finished" at this time. Also you guys are thinking of percentage done without taking into account any programing time. Also there are seven main characters (Cage, Kano, Raiden, Kang, Ninjas, Sonya, Goro). Shang Tsung has very little animations. You guys just have the ninja finished. 50+% seems extremely high. Its doubtful you can put an accurate number on it anyways.
So any negative opinion (no matter how polite) that doesn't provide you with a solution equals to trolling?
What do you do when a client of yours says what you turned in isn't just what he dreamt of?
Throw it in his face and yell that he do it himself if he thinks he is so good?
Man, seriously, I don't really get how you go about your work and life itself dealing with criticism the way rabid dogs deal with people trying to steal their food.
Sometimes an outsider to the project may point out something that you hadn't noticed, or open you up to noticing that something that may turn out not to be as good as you thought it was.
In this particular case, I've seen you and others praising the current announcer as spectacularly perfect, spot on, and whatnot.
It isn't the first time I've seen you raving about stuff probably just because it's what was turned in to you by people you happen to like.
It's great to commend your collaborators on their work, but it's an entirely different thing to throw shit in the face of people that suggest there's still room for improvement.
BTW, again, the announcer in MK1 is not Ed Boon. In fact, as far as I know Ed Boon never gave his voice to any announcer in the MK series.
The announcer is Steve Ritchie, and he has a deep voice comparable to that of Peter Cullen, both of which have a quality that can't be touched by some random guy doing a yawny voice, regardless of the fancy condenser mike, the soundproof booth or any postproduction effects.
And while I can't provide anyone that can do an acceptable job, I don't think you should throw shit in the face of someone suggesting the current one isn't really up to par, just like the first iterations of Liu Kang, the current state of the Sonya model which I've been trying to help @Cris Berserk with, or some of the portraits (Liu Kang, Goro) and models (Shang Tsung) I've pointed out before and (unfruitfully) tried to do something about.
