Mortal Kombat 11 General Discussion Media Thread

its funny that people are getting annoyed with their rosters, yet the ones who and moan some of you (not everyone don't bite my heads off) were probably the same people who laughed at the 3d era characters, if NRS has stated multiple times that those games were not as successful as they wanted and they have so many characters they are embarrassed of or the fans literally have also hated a ton of these characters, why do you think they can just magically redesign these 'joke of a character' to please you, if Kobra is a ken lookalike and people hate him why would ED decide to just redesign him to please you.

you criticize Ed/Nrs so much about their roster you think they will put in Havik cause 10 people are whining for him, but my god Jacqui, Cassie are in it's the end of the world, think about it there is a few 3d era characters they like that they kept around it is their game if you are a hardcore fan of MK then you should not be ing everytime a new game comes out and you see the roster it's a MK game you should be freaking excited a new one is out, if your expecting your favorite to be in the game cause then the roster will be amazing well i'm sorry to say this but 99% it ain't happening

if we keep seeing the same characters over and over again why does it bother you honestly? because Johnny is taking a spot over Reiko, Reiko was created in mk4 people assumed he was Shao Kahn in disguise or some shit, his moves were not that original and he ended up never coming back to the roster till Armageddon what does that tell you, Sonya is named after Ed's sister and she was the first female in the game if she is still able to some how fit into the story trying to take down the bad guys why would they erase her out of the story she has always been a Officer of some kind since she entered MK1, Cassie is their daughter the characters are allowed to become couples and have kids it happens in real life too people. but if your going to be butt hurt cause Cassie, Johnny and Sonya are in then it's just sad if Nrs/Ed are listening to fans i'm pretty sure that the many times you keep ing and moaning for so and so person they sit there in their office and be like

Oh someone wants Fujin...... and he is NPC and he will not be playable like ever again, oooooooh they hate Sonya... Ok mk12 Sonya is in the roster who else they hate. people have been asking for Fujin, Rain etc etc etc since what mk9 or mkx clearly they do not care Ed is a business man like his team they want to up sale their stuff so they talk out of their asses to try to please you but you honestly believe the biggest troll ever that because he says 'rest ensure your fav will be in' does not mean he/she will be playable

if all you do is about the roster and that your favorite is not in the game then you are not a hardcore fan, say what you want but hardcore fans should never be pissed about a roster of a game and should be more happy about it, i might be a casual player i don't go online and play with people i play by myself to unlock things or to have fun killing people or play with my brothers their friends, my cousins my friends and i am just happy a new mk game is coming to me the roster can be who ever as long as i can rip someone apart i'm good

and for mk11 we don't know anything about what is going on, if the leak is real then ok the leak is real, until april 23 i will not judge anything till i see the final game and what it has in store for me, if you are hating the roster well NRS/Ed himself is not putting a gun to your head and forcing you to buy, that is all you so if Reiko, Havik, Hotaru, Crapalot, Whiner and ing are not in the game then yay you can save your money, play something else there is a lot of other games out there you can pick up and play

Im really wondering when the players that are requesting 3D era kharakters started playing MK. Are these players that got into MK around MK4 or later?
No judgement or anything just wondering!

I can only speak for myself who has been playing MK since I was five on my father's Super Genesis. I still remember when my Mom rented Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance for my brother and myself. I had instantly feel in love with Li Mei's character and hoped to see her in future MK games. It sucks the last game she was playable was in Armageddon. I also grown to appreciate Fujin, Ashrah, Kai, and Nitara. Overall though the 3D era characters are rather corny for me and I really couldn't give a rat ass if they appeared playable again in the MK games. However I respect those who want those characters back with exception of Dairou, Meat, and Mokap. If it was up to me though minus the characters I had named. I could live three lifetimes without ever seeing any original characters from Deadly Alliance and Deception ever again

Wow, that was quite a rant!

I'd never describe myself as a 'hardcore' MK fan, no. I had the original 1, 2 and UMK3 (or was it Trilogy?) on Mega Drive as a kid, but after that I never played again until MK9, and then I pre-ordered MKX. I see the potential in some of those 3D-era characters (I'd played some of those 2000s games at friends' houses, but never owned any myself) and when we see what NRS has done with some of them (Kenshi, Shinnok, Quan Chi, Bo Rai Cho) we have evidence that they can revamp characters they want to and bring them to a newer audience. That's what I want with Fujin, Havik and Reiko - sorry if it offends your sensibilities.

As for not buying an MK game if the roster doesn't suit my taste - yes, that's exactly what I'd do. As I've said here before, I played a lot less MKX than I expected to because I found the roster mediocre, and ultimately I only really enjoyed playing a handful of characters. I enjoyed MKX and it had a lot going for it, and I certainly don't consider it a wasted purchase, but if NRS are happy to ignore the obvious fan demand for some of these characters (Fujin, Rain, Noob, Smoke) then I'm happy to not buy their games. Ultimately, for me, it comes down to whether there are enough characters that interest me and will keep me playing the game. If there aren't, I can't justify the expense, and I'll simply stop posting here again for another couple of years.

I'm not a fanboy - I don't believe in buying a company's products just because. I think that's a very toxic mentality, actually - they have to earn those sales, and try to keep their customers on-side.

I'm willing to give them another chance here, but I'm holding off on pre-ordering until we know more about who's playable.

Been playing MK ever since MK1 was initially in an arcade cabinet.
I just want to see some new characters and 3D era characters that haven’t been in an MK game since 2006, for a change.

that is a honest comment

like you mentioned if you were not interested you did not buy the game that is the smartest thing to do. but like i've mentioned if you bash the company for their past games and bash majority of the characters they created or even the company hates their characters i don't think it's a waste of opportunity. Mokap was a joke you really want him to return? they literally killed Hsu Hao in any game he was in plus the comics even in the comics they offed him, do you really need Hsu Hao?

you bash that Jarek, Kobra and Kira are copycats literally taking moves from other players ok maybe they can do something to make them better but at the end of the day they sucked so NRS are moving away from them. Kano is the leader of the Black Dragon he hasn't gotten himself killed yet and he is basically turning into a robot so until Sonya or someone kills him he will be around he is too stubborn to step down so until he can't fight or walk he is going to be there, yeah ok Nitara was the first Vampire in the game it was cool, but maybe they didn't want to go that route and they just wanted to stick with their ninjas, elder gods, demi gods, humans, does not mean they are hating on you for liking Nitara they just are not interested in using her

and like i've mentioned the games in 2000s majority of people put them down so they want nothing to do with them, if Ed likes Kenshi then he can like him its his game, Sub and Scorpion do nothing for the story i don't care if scorpion is the poster boy of the company him and sub are as you guys say a waste of roster space, for every person who hates Cassie, Sonya, Johnny, Jacqui there are people who hate Sub and Scorpion but are not too vocal about them because they don't want to be attacked by trolls

and good don't buy the game until you see what they have for you then you can decide that is perfectly normal, but don't get so upset cause they have 50 original characters in the game they are part of the story and NRS is trying to tell their story, we all know they have so many plot holes this time bending thing could go anyway they can erase people, they can make everyone we see have a happy ending, they can kill everyone and then maybe in mk12 itll be another reboot or they can take 50 yrs for the game and it's completely new characters no originals, no mkx people, no 3d eras it's all new people, we do not know what they are doing, i get people have opinions i understand but seriously people make threads on a certain female character because you loathe her so much my god move on, if you hate that person use them as your punching bag in the game but making 600 threads on the same shit it's getting old

mk11 is done it is complete we just have to wait and see what is going on

I discovered MK from arcades of MK1/MK2/MK3/UMK3 + PC port of MK3, all in 1996. After great disappointment (MK4) and few years of nothing--happens the release of Deadly Alliance was devastating. Ok, gameplay feels clunky and dated now lore-wise the whole PS2 trilogy is top notch and characters like Havik, Frost, Deagon, Kenshi or Drahmin fits MK much better than generic shit like Sonya, Jax or Cage. Hell, after years I'd consider to give Dairou / Darrius / Hotaru a second chance, especially if we compare them to Kombat Kids.

It wouldn't be such a big thing between those people who prefer trilogy characters and those who want to see more new or returning characters from the 3D era, if they released new MK games more often.

For me it is a big problem not to have some of my favorites like Noob Saibot or Smoke in two games in a row. If they don't return there would be no Noob or Smoke for a whole generation of consoles. Especially when I get Frost and Jacqui instead.

New characters or returning 3D era characters are not the problem. The problem is the size of the roster. It is way too limited for a franchise that has almost 30 classic characters people more or less want to see. Tekken 7 for example has a basic roster of 35 characters. I know that NRS is trying to add more to single characters and it would be a lot of work, but on the other hand, they already develope games with DLC characters being added later. They easily could release a basic roster with more than 30 characters and start adding DLC characters a little later. But I think it's the way it is normal now. To give people DLC just a few weeks after the game is released. I wouldn't mind if they released MK11 DLC in fall or winter of 2019.

I dont see many people discussing the MK11 story mode...Didn't it get leaked that this story mode would be one that will let us have different endings? So for all of you who want to kill my boy Johnny Cage maybe you can do that and have it cannon for yourself.I really am hoping that they go this route because so many people complain about the bad guys getting beat. The only thing i dont like about the different ending is that we wont really be able to speculate which ending is cannon till the next game. What do you guys think about this?

Do you guys think there is a chance of having ninja costumes from the 1995 movie in MK11? I am waiting for them since MK9. I really love their looks, those different masks and their simple outfits. The scene where Scorpion and Sub-Zero come out the door on Shang Tsungs ship is so bad ass and still gives me chills.

My first MK was MK2 at cousin's place. The first MK I owned was MK4 (good times, had many versus "tournaments" at my place). Mortal Kombat Deception was my third MK at friend's place. Years later got MK9, MK collection and obviously MKX.

Strangely Frost became my fav, without ever playing her. (as I didn't get to play MKDA first) But my interest in her actually made me get both MKDA and MKA. (Got an old console)

So many guys complain about bad guys getting beat... who? Like I legit never saw anyone complain about here, or even Reddit. But againI could have missed it.

For some reason I am getting a feeling, that they will be wrapping up the story with this one. Kronika is the bid bad, who did everything behind the scenes. The puppet master. Onaga, Shinnok, Shao Kahn are nothing to her. Just puppets on a board. And now she wants to reset the time. Sounds awfully convenient for a... reboot.

I can tell, that they kinda wrote themselves into dead end with MKX "passing the torch stuff" and underestimated just how much people like the klassics. So now they are just looking for way to make all characters play on the even playing field.

If I were to assume. By the ending of MK11, characters will be revealed that there are many other timelines that exist. Different outcomes, different versions, etc. This would make possibilities endless, and they wouldn't have to explain shit by bringing kids, but at the same time keeping original kast young.

I started with MK2 ironically at the age of two. One of the main reason I'd desire 3D characters is the same reason I love 2, 4, and Deception. Everytime they've created new characters (especially villains), they've created some of the most interesting designs, backstories, gameplay, or a combination of all 3. Yeah we had exceptions like Kobra, Meat, Mokap, and Hsu Hao, but I remember for both MK9 and MKX that people were constantly asking about the 3D characters more than the classic characters. However, because the requests were spread between 28 different 3D era characters NRS couldn't actually tell which characters people wanted more so we only got Kenshi, Quan Chi, and Shinnok on the base roster of MKX. Now with MK11, we have request for that 28 along with the new 7, guests, and those not in MKX at all. This will only get worse by the time MK12 gets announced.

Also, people need to remember that people are not as accepting of paying for DLC characters as we might be due to MK being something we absolutely love. So relegating highly demanded characters to DLC is a big issue because it basically promotes a bad practice that may only get worse with the next game.

You've never seen ANYONE say anything about reptile and baraka being jobbers??...along with Rain and Kano? I guarantee you i just didn't make that up just to post something...lol people trip me out.

Someone said something about MK1 (MOVIE) Ninja outfits..That would be DOPE!!! I've been waiting for years to get a MK1 Johnny Cage outfit for the game...Complete with his red sash lol.

1. I thought you are talking about big bad. Shinnok. Shao Kahn, etc. Not minor ones or neutral ones.

2. Reptile and even Baraka are neutral. They serve their masters and are loyal. Can't call them really "bad". Tarkatans serve those who prove their strength, and Reptile... well dude does what he does to survive. He is the last of his race. And it seems he is even willing to put his life on the line for those, that he deems deserving (Kotal Kahn).

3. Now then it comes to Kano and Rain. Kano is a generic villain type from the old days. He is supposed to be the guy who tries to make it big, but always gets a kick to his face. Same with Rain.

4. Chill. This was clearly a misunderstanding.

In the main menu where you see Konquer icon. It has Rain and also under it says play this mode for long term goals and rewards. What if Rain is the secret character and you have to beat this mode to unlock him?

I can only speak for myself who has been playing MK since I was five on my father's Super Genesis.

I had one of those pirated MK games on bootleg NES. First reaction: "this game kinda sucks.". After few hours nobody could kick me off. Had to figure out what was the difference between green Scoprion and yellow Scorpion. 20 years later...We have green Scorpion again.

Eeeeeh... Hmmm... I am pretty skeptical about this entire show thing. This guy is entertaining and is good with explaining a lot of things, but when it comes to topics like that he tends not to research them properly (on how they function in the media). But again. We shall see. I haven't watched for quite some time, so gotta give the guy a chance.

Cause on paper this show sounds awesome.
