It kinda feels like if it would have been a returning character that Boon would have said a "returning character," "a Trilogy / klassic character" a "character we haven't seen in a while" or something else that's typical Boon-speak for a character we've seen before.
He usually seems to reserve the word "new" for characters we haven't seen in MK games before.

.....Anyway, I do find Ed's statement on a new character interesting, I agree with Commander that it was weirdly specific wording for it to just be a returning fighter, which is especially weird since it seems like Kabal is the next reveal (we could see a double reveal at the Kast but I won't get my hopes up).
Also man, SF X MK is something I've wanted for a long time, Boon's been all systems go on it since forever but Capcom ain't budging.

This is honestly one of the dumbest comments I have ever read.
There is no such thing as "a roster that all fans wanted." Why? Because there isn't even a single CHARACTER in the entire HISTORY of MK that all fans want to see in MK11. I've seen people ask for Scorpion and Sub-Zero to skip the game. So if fans can't even agree on a single god damn character, how the god damn shit are fans supposed to agree on what ROSTER of 25 would make them happy?

So unless you're so dumb that you thought Ed was claiming that NRS did something that is PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE, as opposed to just making an exaggerated claim about how much he cares about fans in general, then you should be perfectly aware that Johnny, Sonya, and Cassie's inclusion isn't proof of SHIT.
So which is it? Are you as dumb as a rock, or do you understand that Johnny, Sonya, and Cassie's inclusion isn't proof of shit?

I’ve seen plenty of Sonya and Cassie fans, and Johnny undoubtedly has a decent sized fan base. I’m personally indifferent to them all being back, but I’m sure there are some who like it. I kind of like them as a family, I just wish they weren’t so heavily SF focused (so I do agree with that aspect, them all being SF makes it a little too samey for my personal taste.)

Hell I remember a couple years ago I came across someone on Youtube saying that he would remove Scorpion and Sub-Zero from the next MK game. I asked him if he wanted the next game to flop. He says no and so I tell him that's exactly what would happen if those two weren't in. He never replied back after that.

I was 100% willing to pre-order the most expensive edition of MKX back when someone on wikipedia wrote that the game would star Scorpion and Subzero with the rest of the roster being new characters, and I don't even use those two. Mortal Kombat 12 could be a VR exclusive visual novel, as long as Scorpion, Subzero, and two fatalities a piece exist people will buy it. They literally are Mortal Kombat. Every MK game without them being playable has flopped.

I tweeted that to Boon last night when the Crews stuff came up, the guy who played Jax still looks great and they could make his face look younger to help with the timeline. I'd love to see Jax without the metal arms and just some big wrist tech like he had in MK2.

Johnny, Sonya, Jax, and Kano are so iconic to the MK series is the reason why they always usually come back. I don't know why people get so upset when Sonya or Johnny Cage comes back. It's like being surprise to see Chun Li or Guile come back in the next SF game.

Because they're too generic and are not what makes MK unique. Drop nostalgia glasses, there were many better characters in later games who fit lore more than some Generic Caucasian Blonde Female: Havik, Frost, Fujin, Daegon, Reiko, Drahmin and yes, even fukkin' Hsu Hao.

My concern is more about how the characters who make it play rather than which characters actually make it. The only MK I've consistently used as a main is Reptile, even then I'm iffy on using him in MK2 sometimes.
Though if Reptile weren't in MK11, I would be pretty okay with it as it'd actually force me to use other characters more often. :lol:

The best thing Frost ever did for the franchise was make a complete fool out of herself and get owned by Sub-Zero in MKX.

Even if she's strongly based on existing character, their base is unique itself so it distinguish her enough from any other characters from other fighting games. It's just Sakura/SF type - pupil, different gender, weaker but moar agile and she's got her own visual traits like punky hair.
I'm pleased there's literally no chance for Frost not being inculded in MK11, question is will she be right in main roster or as DLC.
Sonya is just horribly bland type just like Nina (Tekken) or Sarah (VF).
