Do you think Sheeva and Smoke will be secret characters?

I crave for Rain to be in the initial roster :( this mk is the best one yet in the whole series and they have done some great work on each character.. kinda lazy fatalities-wise but still. leaving just one or two characters out is incredibly annoying if you ask me. I'd be just as stunned if they left out just stryker for god's sake. anyway, we'll see, I won't believe anything about Rain till I see it :P

I am just as big a Rain fan as you are but look at what Boon put, he mentioned Cyborg Smoke, Rain, Kenshi and Tanya for DLC. They're clearly not thinking about putting him in the main roster but he is clearly on their minds because of his appearance in the Cathedral and the fact he is even in the running for DLC.

And I don't know if you saw, but there was an overwhelming consensus for the inclusion of Rain for DLC in this forum (and many others I visit as well) but that's what he'll be, DLC. That's why I took a preemptive decision back in January to get a PSN card when he mentioned that so that as soon as Rain is released he'll be on my system.

And as for Sheeva, I am not fond of her as well but as others have stated, she's been on every version of MK3 why wouldn't they include her if she was in the original MK3 on the arcades? She won't be given the boot in for Goro, who Ed stated in a Game Informer interview that he is a boss for now.

As far as i'm considered on the roster,

This will not include Goro, Shao Kahn, or the Red ninja girl on here. Or Rain for that matter (which irks me to no end).
 
Shang Tsung's younger version will be playable in story mode and other modes and his old version will have to be beaten in story mode. That is my prediction. Also if Lupinko is right, then Older Shang will be an alternate outfit.

most people said ed boon wasn't to be trusted and he plays too many tricks on the fans so I can't trust he's not in unless the final game is released :P

now, I don't get why they all agreed at once that Rain should be the first DLC character or whatever.. so what , if boon said I want ten fans to jump off a cliff with their cars and die to include everyone, plus all good characters from mk4 and on and 10 super kickass new characters, we should just do that? :P there was one person that was smart about this, I think on this forum, and was like 'why vote for Rain as DLC and not vote for him to be in the initial roster?'. I agree with his point of view on the topic. it's ridiculous to exclude like 2-3 characters and make them dlc :/

Boon does joke around a lot but this DLC, this stuff isn't to be trifled with, you don't want to spend man power on something people won't want to add onto your game, it's just not good business.

As for the initial roster part, I did want him on the initial roster, but their mind has been made up and they have to draw the line somewhere of the initial roster. It'll just have to be straight at Rain. I want him excessively for DLC because I don't want a rushed Rain, he needs to be his own character, Ngihtwolf may have stolen his Lightning but if NRS does it right, they can have both of them have hte Lightning Strike and make them look drastically different.

It's not excluding anyone, when the line was drawn for the roster they said "This is it". I believe one of the team members said, they're never completely satisifed with the game they put out because there is always more that they want to do. But WANT to do and CAN do well, are surprisingly two opposite things. I really want Rain but I don't want a POS Rain either.

When he says alternative kostume, it makes me think he is playable bekause in story mode you don't have alterntive kostumes. Plus, if they did, don't you think the younger one should be the alternative? I think Shang Tsung is playable.

I havn't read the whole thread (too tired) but has anyone considered that the Smoke voice leak doesn't mean he's playable? Maybe it means he's reverted back to a hidden peeping tom we have to find and fight? What with Lupinko saying Dan Forden is back, if he's right about that wouldn't it be awesome if we were back to pressing down+start when he pops up to fight Smoke?

No, I want him playable LOL. And that would decrease the roster space. Who are they gonna replace him with, when adding up the total characters, excluding bosses, sub-bosses and secret/unlockable/DLC characters, you get 26 on the main roster.

Or it kan be Robo-Smoke that is a secret.

Agreed. I still cannot believe there are debates going on about the roster in general now.
 
The roster is done in my eyes. Can't wait for April 19th. And I just found out my gamestop by my house has a midnight opening. Chi-town stand up!
 
Roster is final, and people should stop talking about a secret reiko or tanya, the game is supposed to be MK 1-3 and anyways if they're secret, they're secret.
 
I doubt Shang tsun is apart of the roster, more like a "Press RB to select secret characters" character. I think we really do need to wait until the game comes out to be sure, but still.

I honestly have no idea, but I just don't think they would say he is a boss character and have him take up a slot when you unlock him.

Skarlette maybe? Reptile and them had slots that you had to unlock them for, but this is coming from someone who hasn't played any of the ones past MK3, so I have no recent precedent to go by.
