Bruhs, Kung Lao was leaked, not revealed lol.
Why people want female characters so much. Female characters should be only 25% of the roster
Because he is a valuable character since he was one of the most used and popular characters in MK (casual and tournament) and also one of the more distinctive faces of MK that a lot of people recognize. This is in comparison to lesser known characters such as Jade, Sindel, Nightwolf and possibly Smoke. Storywise, he is still somewhat relevant since he is a conventional hero type. But story does not matter too much, and because of this, the producers will not let the story control their choices in which characters come back or not.
Another thing I noticed, Red Dragon is not among the "clans" for online, so no Daegon or Red Dragon members this time around. I like the clan idea, sounds great. I know I am going to be a White Lotus.
If story doesn't matter as much, then why bother even writing a new story, and even go out of the way as to point that out?
If main roster characters appearance =/= story relevance, then Rain wouldn't have been kicked out of MK9.
Story relevance does = main roster slot, and if they just retcon MK9 stuff for the sake of just putting characters in, then Vogel damages his own credibility as a writer.
Also, if Kung Lao = more $, then why not sell him as DLC.
DLC would likely sell more with popular characters, as Scorpion, Freddy and Kenshi have proven.
You're throwing a lot of steam for somebody who knows just as much of the story as we all do. I could throw some nice sounding theories at you about his returning appearance, but you've made up your mind that the character is 'bland', which is a judgment that throws me, frankly. I'm not saying Mortal Kombat hasn't had some uninteresting characters (especially in the PS2 period), but I'd never put Kung Lao on that list, because of his look, his plot as a fighter with a legacy, and the novelty of his move-set. His inclusion seems fine to me. If there's only ONE returning dead character from the last game I'd be very, very surprised. I'm really looking forward to a reveal that isn't somebody from the last game, but Kung Lao's inclusion by no means lessens the game's story potential, or the overall package as a whole. I'm sorry this detail makes you so angry.
Look at all the previous mk games they all had almost 25% females. Never more
As much as I'd like a roster that has at least 1/2 or 1/3 of it full of female characters, I know that no fighting game has ever passed the 20-22% mark. I'd love for them to change that though.
