That wasn't the reason why she was created. During development of MK4, the decision was made that the game needed some more fresh faces. Some already established characters that were going to be in the game were replaced with similar substitutes. Kano, Noob and Kitana became Jarek, Reiko and Tanya.
 
Its not a bad thing for guests in fighting games
its a nice change of pace
but i feel it shouldnt be more then 2 guests

As long as there aren't too many, I'm fine with it so long as the choices make sense within the MK universe. Freddy fits well, and he's certainly better and more interesting than a LOT of original MK characters. Just pretend he's another ninja and the Freddy movies didn't exist and you'll be fine. lol.
 
I'm generally fine with them. Kratos is pretty fun to use and I'll download Freddy. I was just kind of disappointed we got Freddy instead of someone like Tanya, Reiko, Li Mei or Tremor.

I do agree, he's far more interesting than Kano and Sonya. Pretty generic and boring characters, to be honest, I prefer Mokap or Kobra over Kano and Sonya.

I don't like Kano and Sonya as characters, but gameplay wise they are pretty awsome.
Also, there is no way Mokrap can be better than those two.

- Generic guy that throws kives and turns magically with no explanation into a cannonball. (did I mention his useless bionic-eye?)
- Generic girl who does weird things with her legs and has no magic powers.
- Gereric guy with mokap suit with lights on it who has light powers and telekinesis.

I choose the 3rd one for real :laugh:


Im not talking about tiers, Im talking about design, concept, look, powers, etc.
 
Are you suggesting that Motaro would be better than Kano or Sonya?

Motaro would be horrible in this, he would have a HUGE hitbox for one, he wouldn't be mobile at all. He would be severely UP in my opinion. How you can even suggest that Motaro would have been better than Kano or Sonya simply boggles the mind.

There are some generic early MK characters, maybe not Kano but Sonya/Jax/Stryker, their only advantage is being in MKT and people get used to them. And why are they considered to be better than Kira or Kobra (Freddy, Jason etc.)?

Still like Sonya, Jax, Stryker anyway...

I am not for guests in MK games. I feel that the inclusion of guests makes this more of a Capcom vs SNK/Marvel vs Capcom/etc. type of game and MK is not like those other games....now, I love all the VS games so this isn't any sort of hate for them, I just prefer my MK to stay MK.


With that being said, I still don't make a huge deal out of guest characters. I would much prefer MK characters to fill the roster but I give the guests a chance. I absolutely hated the idea of Kratos being in the game but I tried him and didn't really mind him. Not the best character out there but not the worst.

When it comes to Freddy, I will most likely download him and try him out, but, as I said in another thread, I think it would have been way more awesome to put him in a horror franchise fighting game, which would be similar to MK with all the gore.

I think he fits in the MK world because he is a violent mofo and his story is disturbing, but, had he not been a popular horror icon and just some new character, I think it would be different. Being a horror icon as a guest in the game is just weird to me, for some reason. Yes, his character fits...but he is a character from a movie....he was not born in the MK universe...

I always wanted a fighting game with only movie characters, not necessarly all from horror movies, sci-fi and action movies too, specially sci-fi.
 
I believe that they should only have guest characters if they fit this criteria:

1. Makes sense (Ie: having a character from a different fighting series, compared to a kid game)

2. Actually has been a video game (Kratos= GOW, Freddy=?)

Now don't get me wrong, Freddy looks fun, and I plan on buying him, but the only way he can get in is his gruesomeness. Besides that, I can't see another good reason to bring him in. And also, to the people who have said boycoot freddy and Mk in the past, do that and Boon's going to think people don't want character and you'll get your precious Tanya and Sareena and Tremor.
