How YOU feel about guests in MK

Well, if they are having another batch of DLCs or two, they are probably going to hold off on the requested characters.

It's just business. They'll probably have one of the most requested characters be the first DLC character, so people will buy the season pass, thinking the rest will be the same. Then they'll have less requested characters too, maybe even another guest.

I hope so, but I don't know about Ed Boon's common sense sometimes.


I mean, Ed Boon even got a bit annoyed at the amount of Tremor requests, yet he flat-out says "NO" on Twitter.
If you're getting SO MANY requests for a character, that it starts getting annoying, wouldn't your first instinct be:
"That's the next DLC then?"
"That character is going to sell like hot-cakes."

Or would you just say "NO" to all that money?

Unless he's saving some of these characters for MK 10, it just doesn't make sense business-wise.

I don't follow his twitter, so I have no idea how many requests he gets. But if he does get that many requests, If they aren't saving him for the next game, I think they should definitely add him. From what I've heard, Ed boon usually is very cryptic with his messages, or just doesn't tell the truth. Maybe he just means that Tremor won't be in this round of DLC?

I can't find the exact threads, at the moment, but if you look at all the DLC character polls (on TRMK and the amount of people that harassed ED Boon on Twitter), the most popular MK requested DLC characters have always been:

- Cyber-Smoke (UMK 3)
- Rain (which should have been on the MAIN roster to begin with, so people demand his inclusion due to UMK 3 birth-right)
- Tanya (MK 4)
- Rieko (MK 4)
- Fujin (MK 4)
- Kenshi (MK: DA)
- Shinnok (MK 4)
- Tremor (MK: Special Forces)

MK has enough of it's OWN UMK 3 and post-UMK 3 characters that are anticipated for DLC, by popular demand, that it never NEEDED outside DLC.

MK has strength for DLC, in it's own brand.
Just ask the fans.
This is what they've demanded.

So, my question to NRS is simply: "Why not sell these other TOP REQUESTED DLC characters, instead?"

All these characters will be in the next MK ( I am not sure about Cyber smoke though). You shouldn't try and rush things up. Most of these characters have nothing to do with MK story pre-trilogy era.
Concerning the fans, you are being a bit unfair. Everything in this game revolves around what the fans wanted.
I believe that if NRS is keeping some characters away from MK9 it's to avoid a feeling of "deja vu" when they release the next MK.

I look at it like this, whoever was going to be put into this game, there would have been mad complaints. If it was Cyber-Smoke, i would of felt kind of robbed on my Seasonal Pass. If it was Tanya, i could care less however she would make sense since shes tied up in the background by Shao Kahn.
There shouldnt be Fujin or Shinnok right now at the least, Fujin falls when Shinnok starts war with the Elder Gods(MK4) so that has yet to come, so Fujin nor Shinnok should be playable yet i can wait til MK10.

If they do release them it should be just before MK10 is released.

I enjoy guests in games and support it 100%, what i dont support is butt hurt fans who are so upset over something so small that they will not download a compatibility pack so we all that are happy with it can have our fun.

Mortal Kombat made gore on console, Freddy was one of few horror icons feared for his movies.
They make a great pair ....i can care less about Kratos, ive never played God of War nor own a PS3. However i was never upset over his guest appearance on the PS3 versions, it was clear to me.


Oh and im sure when your boss in WB, they just saved you from bankruptcy and they tell you they want one of there characters to make a guest appearance, youd do it too, at least be happy its an awesome movie icon.

True - They didn't... But they could now. It's a rebooted timeline. Some characters can retain their identity, but have new backstories. For example, Tanya could have been an Edenian resistance fighter in the MK Trilogy era - perhaps wanting to join Kahn as a spy (It's one way of explaining her being tied up). Also, Reiko could be seen as one of Kahn's henchmen. We've also seen Bo' Rai Cho, Havik and Fujin mentioned in this game. Nearly anything could happen.

Because no one cares about anything but money anymore. I was one of the most anti-guest character people around. I didn't like the idea of Kratos, and I hate Freddy with every ounce of hate in me. But what can we do? Not download the DLC packs? Nah. Unmasked Sub-Zero looks great. All the video you guys have seen of him, I was playing as him. He's the best DLC costume out of the current ones released. you'd only be hurting yourself not getting the pack. I'm over everything now. I say people who are riding the Freddy train, buy him. I know it's the evolution of fighters, but maybe it's just me.
I'm stuck in an era where MK stood on its own 2 legs, without the need of outside help.

As video games become more and more mainstream, we're gonna see more and more commercialization of them, so this is far from something just in fighting games. (Modern Warfare has dynamic signs/billboards that plug anything from Gillette razors to KFC.) Games take our attention off of the ads we'd be seeing on TV, so they're gonna come up with ways to inject commercialization into games. Sad, but true.

Normally I'd agree, but they're not just making these banal, useless fighters. They're actually giving them moves that both make sense and work in the "ring". For all we know, Freddy could be better than KL, and we know how many people would orgasm at that.

Which is the problem. Not only did I play as Sub, I also tried Freddy out. He has the largest special move list in the game. He has a teleport that goes through projectiles and attacks JUST like Smoke. Ground spikes that can be used close, medium, or far JUST like Quan Chi's runes/Kenshi's Blade slash. He has his slashes that are JUST like Skarlet's. His only unique move is his "dream ball" which makes you fall asleep for a couple of seconds. He's basically a jack of all trades. So not only does he take up the most hyped up DLC slot in MK so far, they made him practically untouchable. He's unoriginal in every way possible. His intro is exactly like Scorpions and Barakas. He was a dumb choice, but whatever. It's not like people are gonna actually take the time to learn him or use him correctly. He's just another flavor of the month. A shitty one, but I'm over it.

Having money or saving a company from bankruptcy shouldn't give a person the right to believe they can dick around with the mythos of a story simply because they have money. It's a prime example of "power corrupts." They have money so they can dick around with your story.

Imagine if you were an artist, say Michelangelo, and some douchey owner of the Sistine Chapel told you he wanted you to use different paint or wanted you to paint bunny rabbits next to the angels? If you were Michelangelo, wouldn't you impale him with one of your paintbrushes?

Freddy looks very sexy/molestable.
He's fast, has a teleport, a free hit move and has just a great look to him.

I am not really happy with this move either. I hate mokap, meat, kobra and a host of other MK characters but would have taken them over Freddy. Does he look bad @$$ and does he have some cool fatalities absolutely will give you that. But as a Mortal Kombat purest this was really a weak move on behalf of Boone or whomever ultimately decided this.

I'm sure Boone gets bored but why cant Netherrealm studios do a video game with Pumpkin Head, Chucky, Freddy, Michael Myers, Jason, Pinhead and gang and let them slash and hack it out there.

Ultimately I'll get it but it's a purchase that I am making begrudgingly. Boone I hope you had some fun, but as others have said your a creative guy surely you can do better than this.

I honestly couldn't care about guest as long they fit with the nature of the game. Mortal Kombat is a game that is brutal with guts and gore everywhere. I was ok with Kratos because of his brutal nature. The DC characters.. eh.. I wasn't so happy about because this characters aren't very brutal. I'll give Krueger a chance, but he honestly doesn't fit because he may be brutal, but he's not as brutal as the Mortal Kombat characters.

I would so buy that.

I never liked any of this movies (excepting Hannibal), I really dislike the gender.

I would prefer a Sci-Fi fighter, with Predator, Alien, etc and maybe some superheroes.
