How YOU feel about guests in MK

I'm not too bothered by the guest characters.

I thought Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe had an interesting premise. Sure there are people that claim that MK and DC shouldn't have gone together, but in reality DC and MK have a plot devise that actually allowed them to cross over, more so than Marvel and Capcom. DC has the multiverse and Mortal Kombat has the numerous realms, so I wasn't as bothered by it as others.

I'm not too bothered by Kratos or Freddy Krueger showing up in the game because for the most part people were able to get the Trilogy roster, the good roster that a good portion of the fan base label it as, where as the post Trilogy characters outside of maybe two or three are generally hated upon.

Which brings me to a question, if majority of the post Trilogy roster is hated, then why are people bothered by a guest character showing up? After all they seem to be taking the place of a character that is all ready hated to begin with.

I wouldn't mind but since he is taking up a slot that could have been for a MK character, it bugs me. Kratos didn't bug me cuz i feel he didn't take away, he was just an add on. With Freddy, I truly feel that slot could have been for an MK character. Reiko and Tanya are among my favorite characters. They get booted from the game so a non-MK character could be added.

and I am torn, he has a neat moveset and awesome fatalities. I would prefer MK characters, that is why I bought MK lol

There are basically limitless slots for DLC and since there's more DLC on the way, Tanya and Reiko haven't necessarily been booted
 
I'm not crazy about it, but I won't fault Boon & Co. for trying something different.

I admit I was pretty excited to see another re-imagined MK character (not to say that won't still be happening), but eh. I'm happy to just get the free costumes with the compatibility pack on this one.

I hope so lol I think they should have said specifically if there will be more DLC

something else I wonder, since the argument is that Freddy is such a fit for MK, why not make another Nightmare on Elm Street movie and have an MK character in the movie? lol its just so similar why not? lol
 
MK should have 40 guest characters. The DLC boxes in the left and right corners should open up new character rosters. We'll have classics like William Wallace, Jason Voorhees, Maximus, Leonidas, Leatherface, Hellraiser, Rambo, The Terminator, Predator, Alien, The Sperminator, Hollow Man, Catwoman, Batman, The Joker (Ledger), Master Chief, the dude from Gears of War, Soap McTavish, The Green/White Power Ranger, Dos Equis Man, Jason Bourne, Barack Obama, Osama Bin Laden, Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin, M. Bison, Peter Pan, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, Rocky Balboa, Brendan Frasier, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Jesus Christ, Muhammad, Siddharta Gautama, The Real "Shiva", Gandhi and his powers of peace, hell even Mother Teresa. Each should have four costumes, ranging from armored to kinky. Let's go NRS!!
 
The Freddy release REALLY caught me off guard. I don't really have that much of a problem with him. It's a little dissapointing, since we were all thinking it was going to be Tremor, Fujin, or Cyber-Smoke. I do like the gameplay footage I saw so far. That doesn't mean I'll be using him a lot, but I do like what they're doing. I'm not as angry as everyone else, but he looks pretty slick.
 
LOL I laugh at people freaking over Freddy, cant accept a little breakaway fun.

I was kinda meh on Kratos but i had a full understanding. And with Freddy i am by far so excited. I cannot wait for Aug 9. Skarlet was a great new character, Rain has been fun, Kenshi was remade amazingly. I have high expectation for Freddy, his whole character is more fitting than Kratos ever was in MK. I just hope Freddy comes from Hell and not the Nether World in his back story.

Guests are fun for games, Spawn/Link/Tekken Guy in Soul Cal 3, and then Vader and Yoda in Soul Cal 4. Halo Spartan in DoA, these things make people outside your average game find interest, and brings more players to play against.
The more players the more fun online.

I was really hoping for a new contestant and im glad its a awesome horror legend/icon. Hes going to be a lot of fun to play i already know and i think thats what people need to look forward too.

**** being "classic MK" we had it for a few months, it was fun, as much as i like other MK characters i look forward to new ones to make legendary.....If Freddy is favored will he come back? probably not, but its cool

Remember Spider-Man in Tony Hawk :)

this is another problem. you put one or two guests in and everyone wants more until we have 5 or 6 non-mk characters.

This is EXACTLY my problem with guest characters.
As soon as Kratos was announced in December 2010, I thought "Damn. now were going to have a wave of guest characters."
This isn't Soul Calibur.
Freddy has NO PLACE in MK, as it takes away the feel of the MK 1 thru UMK 3 nostalgia that NRS was trying to bring back in this game.
Heaven forbid I actually try to explain this to people, they'd think I'm a heretic and brand me with a scarlet letter.

and for anyone complaining they have to many guests....maybe it paid off for me i own an Xbox :P

Agreed, NRS was so pushing for this "return to the old days" feel about this game, then they turn around and add these idiotic guest characters. They have made so many great characters why not stick with those?

Shit, I'd be down for ANY post-MK 3 character.
That's not to say that I would likely download them (depending on who it was), but I'd at least get the compatibility pack because they're MK characters.
 
I personally don't like guests characters in any games. I don't care if it's Chuck Norris, it's still kind of selling out.

I gotta admit Freddy is pretty damn cool though. Much better than Kratos imho. NRS and WB did a great job so far. I think their choices for DLC was brilliant (they will sell a lot so they'll release more).

But the game could end up being a joke if they add too much random guests. That's probably what worries me the most. If they add Freddy, Jason, Michael Jackson, Ben Laden and Bugs Bunny. Then it's not MK9 anymore, it's MKvsWB. Which reminds me too much MKvsDC.

I will say though all these "true fans" that arent downloading the compatibility pack just so they never see krueger are not really "true fans" because any TRUE fan of a video game will respect another persons choice of character whether it be a guest character or not(I believe people will main and GET PRETTY GOOD with krueger) so not allowing someone to play as their main DOES NOT make someone a "true fan". Thats my opinion..sorry:p
