"Terrible gameplay"? No. Everybody had terribly gameplay in the old MK's.
Story development doesn't matter either. Baraka and Kabal neither had any story development but they are still fan favorites. Whereas Shujinko had huge development, but is still one of the most hated characters in the series.



tl:dr MK fans are whack

I hate her because she had (and STILL HAS) terrible moves.
I'm not only talking about MK3, throughout ALL the MK's that Sheeva has been in, her gameplay is just flat-out horse shit.
She's F-Tier in MK9, if that tells you anything.
The difference with Baraka and Kabal was that they actually had good moves and were fun to play as, whereas Sheeva was NOT fun to play as, AT ALL.
People hate Shujinko because he stole everyone's iconic special moves.
Had he had more of his own moves, people would probably like him more.

Her moves are sick in MK9. The only female grappler, unique.
She isn't shit because of her specials, she sucks because of her horrible normals.


Shujinko didn't steal anything. Every move he had was taught, gifted, to him from the warriors themselves.

Shujinko had the exact following moves, which he stole:

- Sub-Zero's Freeze
- Scorpion's Spear
- Liu Kang's Bicycle Kick
- Raiden's Thunder God move
- Sindel's Slide move
- Ermac's Opponent Slam
- Kobra's Flaming Fist
- Bo Rai Cho's Flip Scissor Kick

He had NO special moves of his own.

It was a copy-paste job that NRS did, and you'd have to be blind not to see it.
It's so damn obvious.

He didn't steal them. Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Ermac and co. all taught him those moves themselves.
There was a reason he had those moves.
 
I always fantasize a fatality for me would be something that ends with me taking a inhale and closing my eyes like I'm trying to calm down, then turn my head over to the dead body, and then just start laughing out loud.
 
Tanya: Dominatrix Trample- First, Tanya's foot glows in flames and kicks the opponent at the groin, making him go down on his knees, hold his crotch, and bend over with face close to the floor since the damage was so painful. Next, she stomps on the enemy's back of the head several times while making his face hit the floor. Then, her foot glows in flames again and does one last stomp, making the victim's head splatter into pieces. Lastly, Tanya grinds her heels on the shattered pieces of the skull and brain on the floor.

Drop Babalities, reintroduce Friendships, do what Araknyd said and have 2 NEW Fatalities for each Kombatant with 1 KLASSIC/ICONIC one. Perfect Fatality satisfaction for the next game IMO.

The Fatalities should also vary in style. I believe that there was too many dismemberment Fatalities in MK9. Elemental attacks should come into play, melting, burning, squishing, throat slashing, etc. There's so many ways an opponent can be finished, and the way a Kombatant performs a Fatality should be of their characteristics, with the exception of a few iconic random ones like Liu Kang's Cabinet Drop, or as MK9 has just created, the Joker's MK vs. DC Fatality for Shang Tsung, with a backstory behind it. This means no random Animalities.

That's all I can think of for now, Fatalities are cool, a staple of MK, but to me they're not something that a lot of effort needs to be put into. Because I can guarantee that after a while, for example in ladder mode, you're not gonna want to do a fatality on every opponent due to the fact that you're limited to the number you can execute with one character and it just gets repetitive.

I wanted Jade to do a VERTICAL IMPALEMENT (through the rectum of the guy). At least, Mileena grabbed the guy in the crotch while doing Rip-Off. ;)
 
Ok my opinion:

3 fatalities for each characters (2 new and 1 classic)(and return some classic iconic fatalities like Kitana's kiss of doom and Raiden's super uppercut)
1 friendship. And make it so that the losing characters react to the friendship as well
examples:
Quan Chi summons a skeleton, which gives the oponent a present and they happily take it.
Kano starts juggling with his butterfly blades and the oponent cheers in amasemend.
Mileena gives the oponent a teddy and they take it and hug it (for Scorpion it will be different, he will take it and burn it, which will make Mileena very sad and instead of friendship, the announcer will say friendship regreted)
1 new humour fatality.
and 1 hara kiri if possible

babalities were really lame and animalities were even worse.

Next, while the enemy is in the air, she does another uppercut motion with her weapon, making the blades on the sword separate and form a wheel that spins toward the guy while she says, "this is the end" while holding up the handle of the weapon in her hand raised. Then the spinning wheel that contains the blades cuts the victim vertically in half from crotch to face. After that, the blades return to the handle she's holding up to form the sword again. Lastly, she does a little "weapon exhibition" with her whip blade while laughing and saying, "no one can escape from me".

Agreed, for MK10 I'd like to see friendships return, maybe without a special stipulation to them, so that they're more of an actual "Friendship," and so that people don't get their panties in bunches.

Good lord, one of the klassic fatalities that I hoped would make a return for Shang Tsung in MK9 was his Soul Steal MKII fatality, but nope.
He got The Joker's fatality, because NRS felt like ripping a new a$$hole to the people who b****ed about the Joker's MKvsDC fatality being a "PG-13" fatality.
More skin melting, rotting flesh and decomposition needs to happen.
It felt like NRS did the cut-point fatalities in MK9 to avoid the ESRB being too harsh on them, and saved the best fatalities for the "secret" / 2nd fatalities.

As for fatality repetition, that's based on an individual basis.
I always want to do a fatality on every opponent in Ladder Mode.
Sub-Zero's "Spine Rip & Spinal Smash," Scorpion's "Toasty & Nether-Gate," Liu Kang's "Dragon," Rain's "Does It Sting" and Nightwolf's "Ascension" fatalities NEVER get old for me.

I stopped doing fatalities as often, online, because people b**** and cry like little babies and send hate messages, even though they rightfully lost.
