Controversial Things you believe in

For me here's my list:

1. 9/11 was an inside job

I believe in what Ron Paul said about 9/11. That it was caused by blow back from our foreign policy.

2. Religion is just something humans created to feel better about death.

somewhat agree.

3. I would love a nation-wide ban on all firearms

Disagree, I agree with BBBLP's post on this. My dad once said jokingly, If everyone had a gun. Do you think someone would rob a bank where every person in the building had a gun?

4. I believe sexual preference isn't black and white, but rather shades of gray

I disagree, I believe some people see it black and white, and some people are grey. Grey meaning extremely open minded individuals. I''m pretty sure, I will never make out with another dude. So my preferences is Black and white. Just like I think gay people are also black and white. They only like the same sex, and not the opposite sex.

Bisexuals are the only grey people, and I don't really want to comment on them but I will. I think bisexuals are either heterosexual or homosexual, they are just extremely open minded and are able to give swinging the other way a fair shot.

As I said i'm not a bisexual so I don't know how they really think/the way they are, just my small guess on their standing. (ignorant)

5. If you text while driving you should be arrested.

Perhaps.... some sort of punishment to deter texting while driving is definitely needed.

The Illuminati \ Free Masons really have a hand in all of this country's politics.
I find it harder and harder to believe that votes actually count for anything, and easier to believe that they have a hand behind everything.
I mean, think about it, do you think you vote actually counts for shit?

Some people might laugh at me, but I think it's pretty scary how the 'owners' of this country seem to resemble the Patriots in MGS more and more.

Seems like one of the only people in this country who really knew what was going on around here.
He was a f***ing genius.

I thought the same when playing MGS4

And the A.I. control too..

Ugh... so much to say here... and no time since I have work to do this evening

I find it interesting though that I agree with so much of what Freyith said... I guess the stuff we disagree on she doesn't think is controversial

2. Religion is just something humans created to feel better about death.

I personally think only part of it has to do with death but also to feel like they really serve a purpose on this earth other than to just live. They feel like they have a goal to be a good person while they are alive so they can 'be judged' and have a happy afterlife.

A lot of people don't want to think that everything just goes black after they die because it makes life seem like it had no purpose.

But then again we can't really know if things go black if we die.
We don't really know if we are able to sense and see every single realm of possibility. I am willing to believe that humans are limited to senses that are so few, there are probably realms out there that are beyond our comprehension.

There is just so much around us and outside of us that we can't even to begin to imagine and probably never will. Arguing about it with someone is completely pointless because things can not be proven or dis-proven to a completeness.

It's about believing in something, regardless.
For some, seeing is believing, and for others they believe because it's what they feel in their heart.
Some of what the scientific community tells me, also has me scratching my head, because they also give hypothetical guesses.
Someone can believe in Noah's Ark if they wanted to but unless they were there and saw it happen, they don't know for sure.
Same can be said for Neanderthals.
For all we know a neanderthal could have been a completely different species, not human and not monkey, that was hunted down by man and went extinct, just like the dodo bird.
Religion an science are neither 100% provable.

Not enough.

Also, I believe that alcohol should be illegal if weed is. It's way more harmful to your health than smoking weed, and causes a 1000x more deaths daily.
thans, yes not enough anymore, working in the rehab business I would feel a bit hypocritical. I agree alcohol should be illegal if weed is. Just got back from Amsterdam and that place had the right idea

I love me some alcohol. I would feel deep sadness if I couldn't enjoy a dram of fine single malt scotch or a fine Imperial Stout or IPA.

Never did like German/Bavarian beers, really. Lagers, Hefeweizens, etc, are just not really my thing. I like maltier, heavier, overhopped stuff for the most part. Call me demented.

1. Alcohol and Tobacco should be treated as drugs.
2. Citizens should have to pass a test to vote.
3. Females and Males should have vasectomies at a young age, like circumcision for males, and have the vasectomies reversed once they were able to pass a test.
4. Basically people could own and do whatever they wanted if they took a certain YEARS amount of training and testing. This includes drugs, firearms, exotic pets, dangerous vehicles, etc....as long as these actions/things do not affect any other individual.
5. Although my above list seem fascist, I believe in education rather than enforcement. And no, not forced education.

Surprisingly, this mostly makes sense. Except #3... you're nuts. Furthermore, I'm not even sure you know what a vasectomy is if you're suggesting females have them.

You know, you're a cool dude. And I have always admired that signature of yours.. However... WHAT THE SHIT!? For one.. It's pretty complicated to reverse a male vasectomy and secondly you cannot reverse a female one! You're insane, man!

Lol I think I went overboard with that one. What I was trying to convey was a form of birth control that wouldn't be under fire by so many different groups. What I suggested was admittedly insane and belongs in the book 1984. It would require biological technology that does not even remotely exist today, because, vasectomies don't just happen and just don't get reversed. But I do think we could somehow make the upkeep of our sexual organs a routine coming of age procedure like getting your wisdom teeth removed. Idk...its a crazy idea that's a work in progress. Mwuhahahahaha

Try again.

None of that actually changes the matter that the Bible speaks of Angels, Demons, and a God who, despite having omnipotent power, has somehow failed to leave even the lightest shade of a shadow of a silhouette of evidence as to his existence. Your argument is essentially 'because people have come to interpret elements of religious folklore as related to possible historic events, it is inherently more believable'. All you're really illustrating is the strengthening of belief through perpetuation. But thanks for the all of text anyways.

Although perpetuation can definitely influence belief, without an appeal to some sort of believable logic there can be no long term perpetuation. And furthermore you can't dismiss the historical context of a mythology in the contribution to believability. If you told me you met Kurt Cobain at 7 Eleven once upon a time I'd call you crazy. But if you told me you met Kurt Cobain at the 7 Eleven in Seattle when you were 8, your story all the sudden becomes more believable.

Welcome to the world of virtually all politicians.

:) now there's something we can agree on

I'm actually in favor of forced sterilization, only I would base it on age rather than test results and as long as it's reversible. If people can't smoke or drink before a certain age, why should they be able to have kids before they're able to make and (more importantly) care for a child? I also don't think the earth is equipped to handle that many more people, so some sort of population control is necessary. And yes, I do know how far-fetched such a practice would be enact, let alone enforce, but it still sounds like a good idea to me.

I believe religion and faith are for intellectually dishonest people.

I don't really think marijuana legalization is all that controversial, save for in certain arenas like church and the government, but it's something I strongly support.

Gay marriage/equality is another hot topic that I believe in, too.

This a horrible comparison because we have physical evidence that Cobain actually existed. We don't have ANY tangible evidence of angels, demons, or the Biblical Jesus, now or 2,000 years ago. It's also silly because saying you saw someone is vastly different than saying that something or someone is supernatural. The evidence of a claim has to scale with the likeliness of the claim, too.
