Comic book and Manga thread

So I finally got my hands on Red Hood and the Outlaws. I like it, the art work is amazing and the story seems to be going somewhere. I only have one complaint; I understand that Starfire is eye-candy for the series, but I think they went a little too far with the sex appeal. Other than that, I liked it very much! I'm planning on getting the other issues later today :)

Does anyone else read it? I would love to hear what others have to say about it.

I DO and I told ya Starfire wasn't shown in the best way. like when she asks arsenal if he want's to have sex with her and he asks her aren't you Jasons girl and she tells him something like relationships mean nothing.

I love Starfire and being sexually open is okay in my book. But it's making her 2 dimensional and (IMHO) makes her relationship with Dick Grayson seem less important when it helped both of them advance as characters, Which was why I liked when Captain Starfire came along in Redhood 9 or 10. :)

Heres the page I was talking about.

so how many issues you got for red hood and the outlaws, any my opinion i didn't like starfire at first cause the whole sex simply to have sex thing that just seems to bother me in anything which is why I glad they gave here a little more development and reasoning for why shes like that, btw you might wanna check out the latest issues of batman and robin,in issue 10 nightwing red robin and red hood show up and damian challenges then.He plans to beat each of them at what there best at.

I'm a casual Spawn fan so I only have the basic info on him. When did he adopt red onto his bodysuit? I remember him having an all black bodysuit.

Well the only reason why I thought that her sex appeal was a bit too much wasn't only that page, but these:

I know that Starfire has always been eye-candy, but these pages make me feel like this comic wasn't written with woman like me in mind. So in other words, this comic wasn't made for me. And it sucks because I really like it, however I won't stop reading it, maybe the author has something planned, and hopefully I get a better look at Starfire's past. But I honestly hope that she isn't a dumb bimbo in the next issues. I also read an interview with the author and artist and they said Starfire is being portrayed as an independent woman...I'm sorry but an independent woman wouldn't be bored and ask a guy to show her his tweet-tweet. Sorry for ranting a bit, I have a lot of feelings toward this matter.

I got the Marvel Comic Book App yesterday and I was wondering if there are any Marvel comics I should read, I got Avengers vs. X-Men on Nemesis's recommendation, but are there any others I should get?

Alright, so I've only read an Aliens miniseries comic book. That's the only comic book I've ever read in my life. I'm sure I'm missing out on some amazing things from the medium and the only reason I have refused to join in on the fun is that I have not the slightest clue as to where to start reading.

I wanted to start getting into Batmaine when DC relaunched all their series, but I never got around to it lol. I just saw this thing on Amazon that's called Batman Vol. 1: The Court of Owls. It says it's a collection of the first 7 issues. Do these collections occur frequently? Is it too late for me to just jump on in from here and catch up? Sorry if that's a stupid question, I don't know shit about comics

It's a relaunch of Batman (the new 52).

It is never too late to catch up on Batman <3

I prefer the older comics, though. The new ones are good, but I just like the old school shit.

If you want to get a quick 'info fix', the Batman Files is a fecking awesome book. It is pricey but you get a ton of Batman info on all the characters, events in his life, blueprints of his vehicles/belt, shit like that. It's great for someone who is new to the series, but, again, it is fairly pricey, so it might be something a Batman fan would prefer to shell money out for, not really for someone who is just getting started and may end up not giving a shit about Batman after a while, lol.

Depends. Sometimes, issues come out faster than others. I haven't heard a date yet for volume 2 :/

There are also some of the 'must haves' like The Killing Joke <3

That also depends where you buy them, lol.

You can get comics at the flea market for cheap, depending on which one it is. The most expensive I have seen was $15. Most others were $2-$10, again, depending on which ones they were (most of the old ones are cheap but the more rare ones are obviously more expensive).

You can also check amazon and ebay for prices, though with shipping, it will cost more than it should.

Coles also has the collections but they are expensive.

The court of owls is a fantastic comic, but it's not just batman it's also Dc Batman and in the 8th and 9th issues they added Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman and I'm not sure but I think the added Batwing and Nightrunner into the mix. So if you want to get the full story and save the hunting I'd suggest waiting and get the collections. :)

It's two different ongoing titles. one is Detective comics Batman and the other is just Batman.

Nemesis is a marvel fan.
