Bored With MK 2011....??

Is it just me, or does anyone else share the same thoughts on this matter as I do? I played the new MK for about 3-4 weeks after it's debut, shortly after I became bored with it.....I mean, I play MK2 for PSN more and am more excited for the Arcade Kollection this summer. Don't get me wrong, MK 2011 is an outstanding game, but it just doesn't really hold my interest as much as I would've expected.......Maybe it's just me?? Any thoughts??

I think it's just you. I can play ladder on expert with Johnny Cage for the 100th time and not get bored at all.
I'm also doing the same Test Your Sight challenge for like 20 times in a row, just to see the reaction when you choose the wrong cup.
And now when there are more costumes and characters coming up this will be even more fun!

Im not bored at all with MK 9.But I do play other games, classic Mk,classic console & classic arcade,Im playing AC brotherhood too.

Nah, you aren't alone. I got bored of it about 2 weeks after I got it and haven't played it since.

I will eventually play it again, with all the DLCs coming out, but, until then, meh, I am happy with Uncharted 2 taking up my time.

I completely agree. I was beyond pumped for the release of the game and played it nonstop for a good month. I beat story mode, unlocked everything in the krypt, played through more than half of the characters arcade to see their endings, then BAMM nothing. I am at 247 or so on the challenge ladder and don't even care to beat it because the reward sucks and the challenges became too repetitive.

I was beyond close to building an arcade cabinet just for this game out of two TE sticks and a PS3, but now just don't care. At the time I was so pumped about DLC and swore I would buy it all and its been out for a good week or so and I don't even care to purchase it.

I think a ton of it had to do with PSN being down, for me at least. I would have ventured online once I became bored with story mode and all of the other offline modes. But since it was down, I ended up going to other games instead. Now with Fall around the corner and 7+ amazing games coming out (Resistance, Elder Scrolls, Twisted Metal, NHL 12, Metal Gear HD, Uncharted 3, Batman Arkham City) all of which I want the crazy awesome editions for; I just don't see me venturing back to MK anytime soon unless it is for the story mode again which I loved.

I loved and still love this game, but the passion to play died for me.

The game is very cool, but, if you don't try to see interesting and fun time in others game, and, stick only with MK and play it day after day, the game can become boring, really.

The key is balancing things and give a break time, from time to time. This make MK 2011 looks cool again after come back. It's nice take a "vacation time" playing others game.

For someone who intention is to play in more high level, in tournaments with 10K-20K $$ bucks prize in the line, so, playing daily MK 2011 to refine technique and training, to do well in the tournament, it's understandable .....

but for only amateur level, playing this game only for fun, so, since you will gain nothing but only a number score more in your W/L record, I see that playing for years the same game without break, can become boring and frustrating .... well, I guess .....

I'm not yet bored with it. I play other games aswell but once in a while I feel the urge to play this again. For me, fighting games have infinite replayability due to being able to play online (I still love playing Street Fighter 4), but with online being so crap for Mortal Kombat, I'm not sure if this will make me stop playing this altogether in the future. I seriously hope the netcode gets a major fix.

I agree with both ph4ntomlord and Jeary. I was pumped too and after completing challenge 205 i just don't see the point in continuing to do all the challenges. Honestly, most of the challenges are stupid and retarded to do past challenge 25 lol. I remember never getting bored with MKvs.DC as quickly as I did with MK9. I think its the restricted 2D platform and the HORRIBLE online connection that contributed to the way I feel about MK9 at this point.

The replay value is in the PvP. Not the storyline/challenges lol. I would assume most people getting bored of it by now are the people who don't like to push their skill to their limits aka Tourney type players.

StarCraft Brood war is a 1998 game and there are still high dollar tournaments for it. Replay value is obviously in PvP

MMORPGS... again even though this is not pvp, replay value is in people playing with people.

Same with FPS, only reason FPS die off as quick as they do now a days is because of how quickly these are pumped after another by multiple companies.

So if you want MK9 to last longer, you should dwell deeper into it's advanced play mechanics and give PvP a try (and I don't mean only online) find like 8-10 people in your town who play the game too and have a mortal kombat fest. Give eachother tips ect. The games life will last longer. Because no matter how good you think you are... there is always room for improvment.

Well the only large group of people I can try to bring over my house or go to is the senior housing center by my house. I don't think 90 year old heartthrobs and chics are gonna play MK.

If you play this game on its most basic level
eg.
-seen all the moves and fatalities, unlocked all the krypt, did the tower and beat the ladder with everyone. And if you Don't play online.

I can see why you might get bored of it.

For me I still love to play it!!
It's all
I'm going to play until Dead Island or Battlefield 3 comes out.

My point is just like Street Fighter this game takes a month or so to enjoy but years to master. I've long ago completed all of this games challenges and unlocks but my favorite thing to do is master 50% + damage combos for every character and do them to people online.

I will definetly be playing this for a long while
Hell, I was even playing Armageddon the week before this game's release and I consider MK: A a bad game.

Um... I mean find people in the right area..? Hold a mortal combat fest and put up a flier or something.

Obviously taking a mortal kombat game to a place like that is stupid lol. When I bought mk9 and saw how many copies were already bought I knew there has to be like hundreds of people in my town.

Nope I haven't explored correctly the game yet. Too bad that online is a bad experience, it is cutting off the game's lifespan.

You're not a hardcore fighting game player if you get bored so easily lol. I still enjoy playing SSF4, UMK3 and MK9.

Of course any game gets somewhat boring if you play too much of it. But I never get really bored of a game I enjoy. Especially a fighting game where there's so much to learn and room to improve. I want to get better at the game and learn all the matchups so I'm always motivated. Maybe that's the difference.

No offense but that is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard (even if it was sarcasm).

Almost every game gets boring at some point. Play it to death and that is what happens. Nothing makes you less 'hardcore' if you get bored of it. It's human nature to get bored of things at one time or another.
