Well after viewing video from last nights sdcc mk tournament I'm kinda looking forward to playing as Krueger. The only thing that would make me resent this decision is if Freddy is our last DLC character. But the possibility of more rests on sales. Hopefully everyone that's supported the dlc will pay off.

seriously, people need to stop crying. like i've said already, the majority of you are going to be downloading him just like the rest of us. somebody mentioned only casuals and freddy fanboys wanting him in the game? there is some guy on here named Freddy Krueger who doesn't want him in the game and this is the first MK i've played seriously since UMK3, and i considered myself a hardcore classic MK fan and i enjoy freddy in the game. in fact, most of the serious hardcore fans who still play umk3 at tournaments to this day are so happy to see freddy in the game.
this is a good move, you guys aren't going to die, there's going to be a sequel and they need to save their post mk3 chars for that game. like i said, i'm sure a lot of people like me feel the same way, nobody is going to want to get the sequel whenever it comes out, with the same 30 chars. there aren't a lot of popular post mk3 chars, so it's best to save some of those.

Sounds like the typical producer imposing silly ideas to the developers for the sake of making more money. This often happens in many games and movies.

That'd be too much, I hope this guy is just a guest, and that's already pissing me off I'd be very mad if he gets a part on MK's story too, fortunely its very unlikely.

It's not so much Freddy himself that makes people upset, it's just having a non-MK character in an MK game. There are a lot of MK purists out there and Kratos and Freddy being in MK don't make them happy.
As I have said yesterday, I would have preferred an MK character, but, after seeing Freddy's gameplay, I think he looks awesome and will be fun to play as. Still wish they had made him in a different fighting game (like maybe a cool horror franchise fighting game, lol) but, whatever, I wont entirely knock anything until I try it. I didn't like the idea at first (and I am a huge Freddy fan) but I am starting to actually be excited about playing as Freddy. I can almost guarantee you a lot of the people complaining here will end up playing as him and liking him.

People are free to be disappointed but people had best make sure they are mature about how they handle the situation. Most people are doing quite well right now but it was a pretty big shitstorm when I logged in last night. I don't know about how well Freddy will fit into this game, (yes this is my first post please don't point it out), but I think I have five good reasons why they're using him.
1. He is a creation of WB, thus appearing in a game produced by them.
2. He is a 90's horror film character, and Mortal Kombat kind of represents the 90's.
3. NRS stated that many of their fatality ideas come from nightmares they've had (maybe a reference to that).
4. He is gruesome and violent.
5. His last name starts with a K.
Those are the best reasons I can come up with lol

This was a rumor from the beginning the chances of it happening seemed slim but it did and I'd rather have this than ****in Mokap or Meat. Or any other of the mainly half assed characters from armageddon. There are very few great characters post MK3. Everyone who thinks freddy can't fit in MK is full of shit. He was rumored as a secret character in other MKs when I was younger it was bound to eventually happen. MK is bloody brutal and violent and so is Freddy. Storywise he's a character that invades dreams MK is Ed Boons dream made real and Freddy invaded it. So maybe everyone who's pissed will get to see Ed get offed by Freddy in his ladder ending. But seriously stop *****ing. There were characters I wanted over Freddy as well but I'm grateful were getting DLC characters period. I'm glad this MK wasn't a boring piece of shit like armageddon. This game took MK back to the way it should be. It makes me feel like I'm 12 again playing MK2. This was a fan service game and lots of fans wether hardcore or otherwise wanted to see this. We can't get every good character now although fujin reiko cyber-smoke and tanya couldve been the next 4 DLCs we may have to wait til MK10 to see them. Regardless I'm grateful and happy MK is in the news and on top again.

Those are very good reasons. Freddy definitely caught me off guard, but he looks awesome. Plus we're going to get Jason sometime in October, so that will be pretty cool.

That's just foolish, purposely doing something that ruins somebody's match is lame. You don't want to buy or use him, don't, but don't be an ass and not download the comp pack.

Sooooo many people don't buy the compatibility pack, or they just buy one or two of them. It's really annoying when I can't use a character I paid for just because the packs aren't mandatory or people are greatly misinformed. Actually, if I didn't know this much about the game, I would have missed the compatibility packs completely. I mean c'mon, you get two free klassics if you download the comp. packs. I don't know why people don't get them. There shouldn't be a reason you skip out on Freddy's comp. pack. You get MK3 Sub-Zero for Pete's sake.
EDIT: People tried to boycott Left 4 Dead 2 and look what happened. It turned out to be a great game. Boycotting gets nothing done.

I have pretty much the same views on everything you wrote there.
I was always going to buy whatever DLC came out regardless, it's worth giving it all a try and it helps the community out. Boycotting accomplishes nothing, simply hurts people's chances of maybe getting something that's on their wish list.
If you don't get it because you don't like it then fair enough, but actually rallying against any DLC in general is a bad move.
