Ideas for MK11

I wouldn't mind a Mortal Kombat game that has like only 2% of its roster being returnees. The others can be brand new. I literally would not mind that at all.

These roster selections are basically a glorified way of saying "name all your favorite characters"

Not mine. My character has run it's course and needs to sit out or potentially be retired. He serves no purpose at this point other than to be a nostalgia inclusion.

I really enjoyed most of the newbies (except Takeda and still thinking about Jacqui...), and i'd love them to return and i'm pretty sure all of them will. And i'm really hoping that Johnny Cage, Sonya and Jax will retire next time. They're gonna be too old for kombat.

I know how you feel. even I want Quan Chi to stay dead for 1 game.

and Mileena can sit out for at least a game.

It's a weird feeling. I know if Reptile doesn't make MKXI, it will be a strange blend of relief and disappointment. I just want the roster to matter in terms of the story for the next game.

I'm hoping the success of MKX gives WB the green light to allow NRS to take some chances with the roster moving forward (this could have been a litmus for how new characters would be received over old favorites), but I fear it will go the opposite and cause them to play it safe and keep the returning characters to avoid angering the tournament scene.

...but in my case, Reptile has zero impact on that scene so it doesn't really affect anything regarding him. I just mean in general.

See I would love to see Johnny, Jax, and Sonya to come back. Not to be the main center with Cassie's crew, but definitely playable. Don't know why they're hated so much.

I wouldn't mind a few 3d era characters coming back. I can see Havik, Hotaru, Reiko, and Fujin having a great deal of importance in the story.

But still, people are leaving out characters who are there for the story and adding in characters they like. For example, dude said Jacqui shouldn't be in... lol I'm not a Jacqui fan but they're not gonna make her part of the story then leave her out.

Returning Heroes:

Scorpion, Sub Zero, Cassie Cage, Takeda, Kung Jin, Jacqui, Jade, Fujin, Johnny Cage, Cyrax, Taven

Returning Neutral:

Kotal Kahn, Erron Black

Returning Evil:

Dark Raiden, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Sindel, D'vorah, Smoke, Kabal, Sektor, Tanya, Shang Tsung, Noob Saibot, Havik, Reiko

Brand New (my ideas, non-canon obviously):

Zane Carter (Hero)- The newest member of Cassie's SF team, Carter is a Maori hailing from New Zealand. He made headlines around the world for being the lone survivor of a horrific 747 plane crash in Australia's Outback, his survivalist skills allowed him to stay alive in the harsh environment for over a year on bare minimal supplies. However, it's his prior SAS training and hand to hand combat skills that got SF's attention and his new job. In Kombat, Carter uses an electrified staff that can be broken down into 2 tonfas.

Wayne Stryker (Hero)- Wayne Stryker was born during Outworld's Invasion of Earthrealm, hence his father, Kurtis Stryker never got to witness his son's birth. For years, the truth about his father's death has been glossed over and cast into the ether, this lead Wayne to join Special Forces as a means to get close to one of the last people to see his dad alive- Sonya Blade. His drive and conviction allowed him to rise through the ranks, but it would be his brashness and disregard for authority that will get him kicked out of the team prior to the events of MKX. Now, his friends/ex-comrades are in peril and it's time for Wayne to tempt fate just like his old man did. (Note: Wayne Stryker's alt is his father post-revival. Stryker and Stryker JR. share the same gameplay style and weapons)

Yuriko Hasashi (Heroine)- One of the few survivors of the original Shirai Ryu and the niece of Scorpion himself. Yuriko was orphaned as an infant during the Lin Kuei Invasion, later found by Christian missionaries in the area and adopted. 15 Years later, uncle Hanzo sought her out and convinced her to train with him and help rebuild their clan. Yuriko proved to be a fast learner and soon bested many of her fellow SR Ninjas in training and in sparring matches, earning her the codename "Kitsune" (Japanese for Fox) and her status as Scorpion's successor if anything were to happen. This never sat well with her fellow Shirai Ryu (including Takahashi Takeda), who wrote her off due to perceived nepotism. "Kitsune" has much to prove, but her upbringing in the Christian faith will be put to test in the battle ahead.

Calder (villain)- Edenian Empress Tanya's right hand. Calder is a very cold, cruel and heartless beast of a man. An Edenian Viking with the blood of his savage ancestors raging through his veins, Calder harbors intense hatred for the realm's late royal family and their legacy. Centuries ago, Calder's people sought to claim dominance over Edenia and waged war on the throne, a bloody civil war ensued that severely weakened the realm and benefited Shao Kahn, it all ended when Calder's own father fell to Queen Sindel in Kombat and many of his fellow Vikings were banished to Earthrealm as a result. But that's Ancient History. Now, Calder seeks his own entrance into Valhalla by serving the darkened Thunder God Raiden alongside his queen/lover Tanya. He will prove to be a juggernaut in Dark Raiden's offensive.

.......PLOT COMING SOON....I need to hit the hay now.

For Sonya there is Cassie who is already a good character, so I agree. For Jax there is Jacqui, who can become a good character by making her appearance more Jax alike, so I agree. I would love to see her having the same (complete) robot arms like her dad. Why do you hope Johnny Cage retires? There is no substitute for him at the moment. I think it is really hard for a brand new character to replace him. With the Edenian long life secrets revealed, Johnny can continue being a more Stryker alike character, but still remaining his flair.

I also agree Takeda is the most generic character ever ATM. He is like the Liu Kang with some flavor of Kenshi and Scorpion. Takeda could, just like Jacqui, be a great character if they make him more Kenshi like, and let the latter retire. If Kenshi gives Takeda his sword Sento, Takeda gets blinded somehow with the Shirai Ryu band before his eyes and if Taked gets a little beard like Kenshi and Scorpion in the next game, I'm happy!

Cassie is much more like Johnny than Sonya. Just because she is a girl and blonde doesn't mean she is the substitute for her. Most of her moves and her personality are completely Johnny Cage inspired, not Sonya.

As for Takeda, i don't think he could ever replace Kenshi. They have nothing in common. His moves are very much like Scorpion and that's why i find him very boring.

Agree on both counts, and actually Kenshi is the only one of the 'parent' characters I'd bring back as playable in MK11. I think an older, greyer, slightly shabbier Kenshi would be a very interesting mentor figure, whilst still being adept in combat thanks to Sento and his telekinesis. Johnny, Sonya, Jax, etc. should all sit out the next game, but I can definitely imagine Kenshi and Takeda both returning, and having totally different move sets - as they do now. Plus, he's apparently Boon's favourite character (or one of them) so I guess he has a pretty strong chance anyway.

In a way, Kenshi can afford to be less physical than a lot of other characters because of how his move set works, and so if they played up the telekinesis stuff (especially as Ermac will probably be dead) and gave him less hand-to-hand stuff, I think it'd work pretty well. All of those other older characters rely primarily on being physically fit, dexterous and capable of sustained physical combat, which realistically a ~60 year old Johnny and Sonya are not going to be up for.

Agreed with this first part.
Regardless of whether MK11 takes place 2 months or 2 decades after MKX, I'd ideally want ALL of the MKX "parental" characters to sit out.
I know that won't happen in regards to Kenshi, though, because Boon has always had a hard-on for Kenshi.
If it was up to me, though, yeah, characters like Sonya, Johnny, Jax and Kenshi would sit out for the next game so that their kids can take the reins for a bit.
It would free up 4 more slots, and those 4 characters can always show up in story mode like Rain, Sareena and Li Mei did in MKX.
I don't feel the need for those specific 4 characters (Johnny, Sonya, Jax, Kenshi) to be in every game.
Let those 4 sit out a bit, bring in 4 more new characters and swap out some of the MKX dead for the MK9 dead that didn't make it.
Maybe Smoke, Kabal and Shang Tsung can replace Mileena, Quan Chi and Shinnok, FOR EXAMPLE.

I'd like to see Shang Tsung come back and take the spot of badass bad guy again.

But who knows. They made Quan Chi such a weakling in X, I'm not sure if I'm comfortable seeing Shang return if this will most likely be his fate. I was really hoping that Quan Chi would go down in a very awesome way, but the way that he did go down was just disappointing.

Probably one of a very few things that I didn't like in X.

If they remade Shinnok into a badass boss character in MKX, they can do the same for Shang Tsung as a boss in MK11. :-D
