#3 seems like a White Lotus member / Liu Kang.
If Kung Lao can come back, then it's equally safe to assume that Liu Kang didn't really die in MK9, and Raiden fully healed him.
it does look like liu kang foot but looks can be deciving hence the first boot everybody though it was baraka when it was quan chi and it seems small to be liu kang feet so it be a female white lotus member

I think the male:female ratio is good so far. Out of 10 playable characters, we have 3 females (although Ferra isn't playable, but still) and assuming they've revealed ~1/3 of the cast, there should be enough room for more female characters, hopefully returning ones.
I'd say everyone stay calm. You'll get at least one or two characters you'll be happy and satisfied with. I've got my man Kano in, but chances aren't looking great for my other 2 favorites: Jarek and Sonya Blade. I'm just cheering for every character that gets revealed because i know there's plenty of people happy about their reveal and that means more variety of opponents by the time the game's out.

Although I personally have nothing to be happy about with this reveal, nor do I see why an old Kung Lao would be something to be excited about, congratulations to the Kung Lao fans who get to enjoy your moment. Hopefully us Reptile fans get something to smile about in time.
...still, NRS would be well-served to be pimping up the new characters so they don't feel as new by launch. Biggest problem with MK4-MKD new characters was lack of involvement with major storylines, causing them to feel fractured from the originals with the exception of Quan Chi and Kenshi.

Well it has begun already.
Because Kung Lao was leaked.
If none of the dead characters were announced / leaked, people would be going "Well, __________________ is in, so NRS please put ___________ in," as will likely happen on Twitter.
The floodgates for _____________ dead character requests for MKX will probably sky rocket, due to Kung Lao.

I'm getting antsy. I was really hoping Reiko would be revealed next. I'm not a big fan of Kung Lao, especially after getting whooped multiple times by players online who did the same combo over and over again.
In regards to people wanting more female characters to be revealed, let's all hope and pray that almighty TANYA is confirmed soon.

Lol, that was the first not boring reveal to me. Wasn't really expecting Kung Lao, and i like him and his new design. Can't wait to see everything in detail!

It was not just tournaments I was talking about. I was talking about his general popularity and character usage, and it appears Kung Lao was one of the most used character by casual players too, and he is one of the core recognizable and iconic MK characters. All these things taken into consideration makes his inclusion in the game justifiable. Also I would have no problem with Sonya or Johnny Cage in the game
No-one is saying Story does not matter, but the producers will always try to work around the story as oppose to making it the core decider of whats included in the game. In other words, the story will be changed and altered in such a way to include a certain aspect that would be valuable to the games sales and profits.
Including a DLC would not always work.. Since people will recognize Kung Lao from MK9 and his major success, producers would be more willing to put him in the actual game rather than DLC. Its about exposure, and the main roster is what gives the game the core exposure, a DLC is often considered "extra".

I was gonna say maybe Dead or Alive, but I was thinking of the Beach Volleyball game. :laugh: That was the only reason I excluded it at first.

But why only Kung Lao?
Why is he any more important for Raiden to save than the other dead characters?
Someone like Liu Kang I could understand because he died being Champion of MK, and he's a must-have MK character for just about any MK game along with Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Raiden.
Kung Lao is nowhere near THAT type of popularity.
That's my point.
