I'm very curious by this "Only 4 characters are new" that Ed Boon keeps reiterating. Can this just be clever word play on their part? Meaning old MK established characters but haven't been selectable fighters? I'm not thinking of a lot but people like Tremor or something could be totally new fighter but technically not a new character for MK? Also curious if the opposite applies to the "Offspring" characters, such as Cassie is the only playable one but there could be a bunch of them that are npc's in the story mode.

While I think 4 new characters is not a bad amount up front, I'm meh on the new guys, I think Cassie and D'vorah are cool off the bat. But I think Cassie is only justifiable if Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade aren't BOTH in the game since she's a combination of the two and can even have a straight variation that duplicates the missing one. (Since Ed dropped that at least one of them is in the game (My guess Johnny just by popularity))
 
Kitana died and was made an Undead Slave of Quan Chi.

Mileena is still around, I believe, so it makes sense that she would get on the roster if that's the case.

But didn't Boon say there would be quite a few returning/classic characters? Considering Her, Sonya and Mileena are the top favorite females and all..
 
Cant listen to the new interview atm, can anyone tell me if ed said anything related to the roster number? Is it 24 after all? Thanks in advance

He sort of said no... He said the select screen is just a place holder and if you look you'd notice some of the boxes are floating and not actually apart of the ui. And he said the silhouettes are just random stuff but a few of them are hints and ''truths''

Returning characters could easily be characters that have been in Mortal Kombat but weren't in Mortal Kombat 9. He didn't specifically say Mortal Kombat 9 would be the only pool for returning characters.

Like Kai and Li Mei would be "returning" characters as they were in Mortal Kombat even if they weren't in Mortal Kombat 9.
 
If ANY of these characters are in, I'm happy:

- Shinnok, Tanya, Kai, Reiko, Jarek, Fujin or Meat. MK4 characters deserve a shot.

However for me, I really, REALLY, wish for Rain to finally be included as a main character and have a role in the storyline.

Ermac and Kenshin for me will be obvious choices for the main roster considering their popularity.
 
My honest best guess at the moment for playable characters:

10 new ones (including the 4 announced)(most new characters previously in an MK game was 8 so at least 9, and boon said MKX will have the most)

My guesses are not open for any sort of debate, I just wanted to call it now in case I'm right LOL. Top to bottom is more likely to less likely, once it gets to Cyrax it really feels like guessing the final four at the beginning of march madness.
 
I don't think they can handle 10 new characters, with the fighting styles and everyone having completely different specials unlike in MKD. But still, it looks like they are handling everything well till now, so we never know

Yes! 24 and plus is a lot of characters and information. And I also agree, I'd dig some more new guys.

I kinda suspected this turn out in another thread. NRS have been wanting to do an Mk like this ever since after Armageddon.
 
Scorpion already in it which we already known that would happen. Im hoping for some returning characters like Reptile, Liu Kang, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Sektor, Raiden, and Mileena.
 
My guesses for the roster,returning(MK9) and new:

Raiden (May be unplayable)
Johnny Cage (Semi-Konfirmed,one of Cassie's parents is appearing)
Sonya (Semi-Konfirmed,reasons above)
Baraka (He lived)
Ermac (He's awesome...i mean he lived)
Reptile (He lived)
Scorpion (Konfirmed)
Sub Zero (Konfirmed,may be Bi-Han if he survived the soulnado)
Mileena (She lived...i think)
Cyrax (He...lived?)
Sektor (He lived)
Quan Chi (Konfirmed appearance based on MK9's ending,may be an unplayable boss)
Kano (Where the hell's did this guy go?Let's assume he lived)
D'vorah (Konfirmed,i woudn't make up new kharacters)
Ferra & Torr (Konfirmed,was at E3)
Kotal Kahn (Konfirmed,we need someone with the surname Kahn)
Cassie Cage (Konfirmed,every game needs a badass cop)
Reiko (Not konfirmed,still he's part of Shinnok's army)
Shujinko (He revived Onaga,in 25 years he must appear)
Taven (Same reasons as Shujinko)
Daegon (Reason above,May be unplayable)
Fujin (He's a god and he's been in MK4)

Ashrah (Never played as her,still there's nothing against her appearance)
Bo' Rai Cho (I don't really know why,same reasons as Ashrah maybe)
Dairou (I think he's kinda boring,still Boon never said he woudn't appear)
Darrius (Same reasons as Dairou)
Havik (If done right,he could be a great kharacter)
Hotaru (If he appears,Dairou appears)
Kenshi (He was DLC last game,it'd be cool to have him integrated in the story)
Nitara (She serves the Dragon King,if he's in,she's in)
Rain (He's Rain,people like him)

Unlikely to appear(Doesn't mean i don't want some of these guys):

Chameleon (Most fans consider him a joke,i like him but still...)

Hsu Hao (Konfirmed,i mean everyone hates this guy right?)
Jarek (He was just a replacement for Kano last time,i hope he has a chance)
Kira (Replacement for Sonya and Kano,same reasons as above)
Li Mei (Deadly Alliance didn't happen,she has no reason to fight)
Mavado (Konfirmed by Ed Boon,is someone gonna miss him?)
Meat (Wish they gave this guy a chance)
Mokap (Konfirmed,who the hell even likes this guy?)
Moloch (Konfirmed,no Deadly Alliance,no Drahmin/Moloch kombo)
Khameleon (Same reasons as her male counterpart)
Kai (No Liu Kang,small chances of him appearing)
Kobra (Was never such a popular kharacter,still nothing's stopping him from appearing)
Sareena (Same reasons as Kobra)

Now including everyone but the unlikely guys we get a roster of 36 kharacters,it's a pretty good deal in my opinion,but we may get a smaller or a bigger roster.Ed Boon already konfirmed in an interview that we're yet to know the roster size and the real kharacters shadow so i guess some of this predictions can actually come true.Of course we could get some of the unlikely guys too,maybe even more new kharacters?So what do you think?There's something you wanna add?
