Roster Speculation

I usually welcome new characters in general, but I'm kind of bummed that it's highly likely most of the original characters will not return.

I'd rather Cassie had 2 of her variations be "Hollywood" and "Special Forces" where you can have a Johnny Alt costume for Hollywood and a Sonya Alt for SF. Both having specific specials for each. They had cyborg and human Cyrax and Sektor have different animations so I don't see why they wouldn't do this. Johnny and Sonya need to be playable in the Netherrealm invasion part of the story. 50 year old Johnny sounds sooooo bad.

This, although Johnny Cage, Sonya and Kano sound like the only "aged" mortals that survived, if I remember correctly, and would make sense to see in MK X.
Everyone else from MK9 that survived is an immortal / 500+ year old character, or probably a god (Liu Kang).

That being said, why is everyone SO up in arms about the roster number being 24?
24 main roster characters + a possible 6 more via DLC sounds fine, to me.

Here's my guess (which I don't think is TOO unreasonable):

- 8 MK9 characters (including Sub-Zero and Scorpion, and may or may not include Johnny, Sonya, Raiden and Liu Kang)

- 8 post-MK3 characters (the ones that didn't suck)

- 8 NEW characters

So far, 2 MK9 returning characters have been shown, and 4 new characters have been shown.
That = 6 characters, thus far.
That leaves A LOT of room still (18 slots) for returning MK9 characters, post-MK3 characters and new MK X characters, IMO.
Also 2 MK9, 2 post-MK3 and 2 new characters via DLC = 6 DLC characters, and that brings the roster number up to 30.

So, when all is said in done in my hypothetical situation (including DLC), you'd have 10 MK9 characters (aka MK1 thru UMK3), 10 post-MK3 characters and 10 NEW characters.
Sounds pretty fair to me.

Just sayin.'

I'm afraid of the roster looking like SF3.

My personal prediction goes like this: (I'm sticking to a possibility by lore)

Sub-zero , Scorpion , Raiden , Quanchi , Shinnok , Frost , Bo Rai Cho , Cyrax , Sektor , Ferra/Torr , Kotal Kahn , D'vorah , Ermac , Rieko , Noob Saibot , Daegon (he was awake by now in the timeline even beforehand as we see him fighting in the pit) , Kenshi , Shujinko , Sareena , Sonya , Johnny Cage , Cassie Cage , Mileena , and DLC slot

I think this is a reasonable cast and very possible.

Here are my guesses...

Sub-zero
Scorpion
Raiden
Quan Chi
Shinnok
Li Mei (Considering she's very young.)
Bo Rai Cho
Cyrax
Sektor
Ferra/Torr
Kotal Kahn
D'vorah
Ermac
Rieko
Tanya
Daegon
Kenshi
The woman in Jade's MK9 ending.
Sareena
Taven
Liu Kang
Cassie Cage
Mileena
DLC slot

The girl under D'vorah looks like Tanya.
A girl I know is called D'vorah.

Now I know why her house is a bug attraction....

And I am VERY insulted by spader. Ugh! People like you are a disgrace. My best friend who I happen to consider my brother is Muslim.. It's sad

I think that sounds pretty damn accurate, man. I could even go for more new folks and less old. But hell, I can't complain seeing as how a new MK is on it's way haha

This comment exactly. 24 is a completely reasonable number. I don't think most of the complainers are factoring DLC in as well.

Thanks, man.
Yeah I could go for more new too, considering that this isn't exactly MK4, per se.
The timeline skewed greatly in MK9.

Yeah.
You also have to factor that each of the 3 character variations seems to make each character that vastly different, and also adds that much more complexity.
Sub-Zero alone has a "zoning" variation and a "rushdown" variation, which changes the character's special moves.

If you consider the fact that each character has 3 variations, each of which play like a different character, I would say 24 is quite a lot.

I suppose this thread is now pointless when it comes to trying to figure out the silhouettes. Glad this was confirmed sooner rather than later.

This list is so accurate! I can see something like this happening. When he said he's going for something new, he actually meant it.

I think Ed may have let Raiden out of the bag in the IGN stream, as well as Sonya and Johnny Cage and Sonya still being in during this video (4:10):

Well noticed. So it seems like Sonya and Johnny are in.

Though it's hardly the first time family have killed family in the series. Post-MK3 Sindel and Kitana, for example.

24 is a good size for any fighting game, but the MK universe has so many characters, a considerable portion will be left out.

KOF has tons of characters too, some that appear in every game, while others are taken in and out of the roster. I happen to like Tizoc, but unfortunately he only appeared in a few games so far.
