First Impression Horribly Wrong

I was wondering what kind of movies you guys didn't want to watch because you thought it was going to suck, but was some how forced to and liked it anyways.

Same for video games, ones you saw you thought were gonna suck but you ended up playing it alot.

The reverse scenario is welcomed too...

What games did you think were gonna be epic, but failed?

What movies were you dreaming of seeing and couldn't wait but was met with utter dissappointment.

Movies:
I thought Speed Racer might be interesting, but it turned out to be one of the worse movies I've ever seen in my life.

I thought forbidden kingdom was going to be dumb(hate fly by wire), but it was alright.

I thought Ice Age looked stupid but I was pleasantly surprised.

Games:
I thought Super smash brothers brawl was gonna be epic good. It turned out it was epic fail.

I really really had my doubts about okami, but I ended up playing it start to finish and enjoyed it.

My expectations were actually very low for Darksiders. I played it from beginning to end and I my opinion was changed. A very well made game with some minor issues that don't completely destroy it.

But!

The biggest let down for me was...

Halo 3. My God was I disappointed with the campaign.

And I was so excited for Brink. Turned out to be a bit of a flop.

After Fallout 3 and how amazing it was, I didn't think New Vegas was going to be very good. I thought it was just going to be a re-textured version of it. I hadn't planned on buying it. I did, and was MASSIVELY impressed. It was easily one of my top 3 favorites from 2010.

I thought that this game named Nier looked really good. I looked at a bunch of screenshots (my mistake.. Should'a watched videos and read reviews, I know..). I bought it on impulse pretty much. One of my least favorite games.

I almost impulse bought Nier also.

I have Fall out New Vegas but I have no desire to finish it for w/e reason.

I also bought Elder scrolls oblivion because I was slightly amused by morrowind.
I HATED oblivion.

Also I bought and played WET.
Actually quite a horrible game.

i thought the movie Knight and Day was going to be garbage, but it actually entertained the hell out of me

I didn't wanna finish New Vegas for a while too. I actually stopped playing it almost immediately after I bought it. Then I picked it up again and just explored. I found every location except for one :l

Not to question your taste, good sir.. But why exactly did you hate Oblivion?

And yeah, I played the demo for Wet. It's sad.. Because it looked like it was going to be a lot of fun.

I thought green latern was gonna be boss. It sucked ass. MK vs DC was a game i thought was gonna be stupid but the story was awesome. Gameplay was decent too.

I guess I was not only lost half the time when doing an objective/mission. But I felt like I was wasting 80% of my time walking/running around(once i hit town)

I dunno man I played for like 9 hours. and just never touched it again. Sorry but getting my attention the first 9 hours is pretty important. That's a very long time for me to give a game a chance. I usually give shows/animes atleast a 8 episode chance. Even if I think the first one was complete garbage. Because I didn't really like Ergo Proxy all that much it took 8 episodes for me to really appreciate it.

there wasn't enough excitement happening early in the game. The dead beginning was the most exciting then it drew out more boring from then on.

I'm not sure if this counts, but I still can't decide whether I love or hate Metroid Prime Hunters.

Yeah I understand whatcha mean. Games like that aren't for everybody.

I thought the Matrix was going to be awful. It had marketing fail...."What IS the matrix?????" Duh, everyone knows its was Optimus Prime passed on to Hot Rod to make Rodimus Prime! Anyway, of course, it was a great movie when it came out.

Fight Club also had marketing fail. "The first rule of Fight Club is you do not talk about Fight Club!" I thought it looked like an idiotic boxing movie, but it turned out to be about so much more and absolutely great.

Everyone told me how grossed out I would be by the Human Centipede. I just thought it was stupid.

I thought DoA was going to be a terrible video game movie. It was, but it was much more terrible and awesome at the same time than I ever could have imagined.

I thought 300 was going to be great. I didn't like it.

For video games, I thought Excitebots looked kiddie and stupid, but I got it because I liked Excitetruck. Excitebots could possibly be the most underappreciated game this entire generation.

I thought Need for Speed Hot Pursuit was going to be a boring racer, but I loved it.

I thought Hydro Thunder Hurricane looked awesome, but after playing it I only thought it was meh.

i was hyped up for rougue warrior because i thought that it had alot going for it. man did that turn out to be a huge piece of shit.

as for movies, fast and the furious tokyo drift.

Thought the transformer movies were going to be good.. f*cking rancid trails of shit jizz.
Thought Alice in Wonderland remake would've sucked.. turned out to be ok.

I went in thinking Tony Hawk: Ride would be amazing because I skateboard IRL... I don't want to discuss how disappointed I was.
I thought SF4 would blow, but it made a great substitute fighting game (along with SSF4) until MK9 dropped... then I dropped the franchise Capcom 100% and have no intent to go back. Basically, a shit and run.

Spore

that game had so much potential to be revolutionary, but it ended up as a huge letdown. Not a bad game exactly, but it had been in development for so many years and everyone thought is was going to be a huge almost limitless game based on your creations. While it still was about your creations, it was very limited and bland. Such a shame

I thought James Cameron's Avatar was going to be a complete disapointment but the first time I saw it I was totally blown away and it had proceeded to become one of my favorite movies of all time.

i was excited for lost planet 2 but, i ended up hating that game. it's seems like people online only want to play the first 3 stages over and over and over and did i mention the controls were atrocious?
earth defense force 2017 and insect armageddon really caught me by surprise, awesome mindless shooting. the odds are always so ridiculous and overwhelming but, some how you manage to get through it all and feel like a bad ass. you vs 100 giant ants, 100 ufos and giant building sized monsters, bring it. tightest controls for a shooter ever. it's a freaking budget title that is so campy with hilarious b movie quality. definitely worth checking out.
avatar, while awesome, just seemed like a rehash of pocahontas. kind of disappointing we didn't get to see sigourney weaver's beaver :\ the 3d animation was brilliant, the 3d technical director of avatar got me into mk when i was a kid, true story. he is a bad ass.
top secret was a movie i had no expectations of and it ended up being my favorite movie of all time. it is like watching real life family guy type comedy. this movie has it all, nazis, betrayal, singing, death, an under water freaking bar fight, skeet surfing, the anal intruder!!, a scene filmed completely backwards and so much more. if you haven't seen this classic comedy, i insist that you watch it, NOW! you won't regret it.
