The Finer Things in Life-What are yours?

Life doesn't allow most of us to live what the mainstream would call 'luxurious existences'. Most of us work to the bone, for not enough pay, or if we have comfortable jobs, they aren't nearly as lucrative as people would imagine to be. Merely enough to take care of our families, perhaps.

With that in mind, what are a few of the material (or maybe not quite concrete, like experiences) things that you avail yourself of to remind yourself to enjoy life? Maybe it's your car, or working on it and putting money into it, or maybe it's a particular hobby.

For me, I love good coffee. I don't care what it costs so long as it's pleasing and I can reasonably afford to have it regularly, to unwind. I used to also own some fairly pricey music equipment, and that was really the only 'luxurious' thing in my life. I also sometimes get fine liquor and wines to enjoy with friends.

What do you do? What are the finer things you appreciate?

Childish things make me happy, lol.

I am a mature human being but my mind does not accept the fact that I am almost 28 years old....I still love cartoons and video games and mark over wrestling. I work around a lot of people who are so concerned about work and feel that they HAVE to work overtime, whether it be during the week or on a Saturday, and seem to have the mindset that they can't say no....that kind of life is not for me at all. I tell them straight up that I don't mind doing OT during the week and that the weekend is MY time and I wont be working. They try to pressure me and I just don't care....they can't do anything about me not working on a weekend and I work OT during the week because my husband works on afternoon shift and most of my friends have jobs with random shifts so we can never really plan much during the week. Friday night - Sunday night is my time to chill out with people and have a good time. I could never be the type of person who feels that work is a priority. I work to pay my bills, I don't make going there outside of my shift a must....

Also, metal music. Black metal in particular <3 and Rolo hot chocolate.

Some people tell me I shouldn't like cartoons and video games because I am an adult....but, whatever, these are things that help me escape the stresses of life and have fun. I always get compliments on how I look younger than I am. Well, you people can thank the youthful life I live with video games and cartoons, lol.

Having an hour or more to myself and reading a book in complete silence with not a soul around to disturb me.

Good tobacco.
I'm kind of a connoisseur of such.
A robust, rich, and tasty tobacco makes me happy as hell.
Very potent strains of marijuana are also welcome, as I like to enjoy a long-lasting high without some of the bad effects of shitty weed.

And also like Flagg stated, I need time to myself to enjoy some solitude.
Last but not least, I listen to my favorite bands every night before I go to bed.

For me, I'd have to say

1.) Music
2.) Reading
3.) Writing
4.) Family Time
5.) Singing (Not necessarily good, liked by people my age, disliked by mostly anyone not near my age)

pretty much the same for me.

I really have never been a big "People Person" In fact I am quite the opposite. I dont hate everybody, but It never felt right whenever I would be with alot of people at a time. Even my own family. And like you and marshall mentioned, I smoke, but I dont like smoking around alot of people either. I just get all quite and can't function or show any emotion, which I actually have alot of and want to show. It's a problem I know, but that's just me. But I do like having someone there from time to time to talk to. So privacy and solitude are finer things in life for me in many situations. I guess I can be thankfull because there are some people who are forced to always be stuck between others.

and I always listen to music before I go to sleep, and while swinging in my favorite bench out back

I don't like to smoke with alot of people either, I enjoy me and a bro toking back.
3 is pushing it and 4 is max for me. I absolutely cannot smoke with more than 4 people in a rotation.
I'm also not really a people person but I can fake it enough to where it seems like I enjoy their company lol.
I can't really go for a long period of time alone, though.
I start to feel insane, and then I talk to or hang out with my friends.

I also enjoy a nicely brewed coffee but Dunkin' Doughnuts is my favorite.
I like alot of cartoons and good fitting clothes.
Nothing tight fitting or sagging a whole lot.
A little baggy but only a little, a flannel shirt, and my Pittsburgh Pirates Cap.

pretty much here too. Feels uncomfortable on me if anything is too baggy or too skinny. While I could actually get away with wearing insanly skinny shit because I am skinny, it doesnt exactly feel right to me. And I got alot of faded flannels. I just like them.

Music (both playing and listening), reading, writing, and playing my xbox among other things. I also enjoy going out for a good run with music in my ears.

Sleep.

Rest is my luxury. That feeling of rejuvenation is all I need for the start of a great day.

We are.more alike.than phrophosized.

I love sleep.
I literally love to sleep.

You can be my best friend in the world, but if you **** with me while I sleep, there will be hell to pay.

Also anything oriental.
I adore ancient Asian culture.

I like helping people.

I once helped this elderly lady out of the bus as she squeezed as tight as she could onto my arm, I helped her down, she just kept saying, "God bless, God bless."

I helped a blind person cross the street once after their stick cane my foot. Helped them to the sidewalk, then I was like "See you later."

I was at JCPenny's once, and their was a mom cradeling her infant as the baby's pacifier fell to the ground. I picked it up and gave it to the momma. Then I was on my way to get some discounted jeans.

Karma baby, I am still waiting on mine.

Honestly, I game to much for one person's own good. I just like the fact that I can get away from my life for a few hours and shoot some aliens or chainsaw some locust. I have a lot of good friends I met online and one of them are actually coming up this summer. It helps me calm down if I'm mad or depressed.

That probably had nothing to do with the thread.....

I love vintage shopping. It's like a treasure hunt and you never know what you're going to get. It's always fun finding a great piece for a great price. Plus, I love imagining where each piece I own came from. Every vintage thing has a story and that fascinates me.

Taking care of eight cats is an enriching experience as well. They have different personalities but they're all so sweet and being around them never fails to put a smile on my face.

I enjoy calling the police on hookers, just nabbed another one just 10 mins ago.

THE JOHNNY ROOK 3
PROSTITUTES 0

It is even better when I get to watch the police show up then the hooker runs and hides, haha. You got ROOKED!
