Would you consider yourself a fair/honorable player at this game?

Sometimes when I play online I ask myself, are these tools having any fun by playing the game like that? Do they think they are good because they picked Raiden and spammed superman, and teleport + easy combo? Or Kung Laos who just spin and do his easy, high damage combos? Or the Ermacs who just run to the corners and wait for you to do a move? You now what I mean; either spamming projectiles, running to the corners, blocking and standing there, applying some cheap tactic they discovered, etc.

So that brings the question, would you consider yourself a fair/honorable player at this game?

For me, yes. For starters, my 2 main characters are Jax ("bottom" tier) and Smoke. I don't think anyone can complain if they lost to a character like Jax. In fact, I've received messages from people praising me and giving me "props" because he's not that used and they never seen one as good as mine. As for Smoke, my play style is incredibly aggressive. I'm always the one who has to attack first and keep the battle going if the opponent is a duck. I also never used the Smoke "OTG" Bomb, which is the closest think to a cheap/broken technique that Smoke has had.

Finally, I don't to stupid crap at the end of a fight like "teabagging" or other stuff, because, well, it's absolutely pathetic. Oh, and I never quit.

So in short, yeah, I'd consider myself a fair player at this game. I don't exploit bugs/cheap techniques", I never spam (because we all know how useless that is with someone who knows how to play Smoke), and I respect the opponent when they also play fairly. If I get a gg message, I reply back most of the time.

What about you guys?

I'm very honorable with Stryker

I'm honorable with Kitana

I enjoy being a douchebag with Johnny Cage because that's what he is LOL

I'm VERY honorable with Noob Saibot

If I panic I can be a douche with Mileena

I'm a complete asshat with Kano

And me being myself I'm very honorable. Always sending good game and showing respect. Teabagging is for little kids.

Not really.

I don't like letting my opponent get up, no time to breathe son.
And I tend to **** around when my opponent sucks (spam missiles, just do low kicks, jab over and over).

I act like a jackass online, always tea baging, then preforming a faitality or better yet a baibality.

Player? Yes.

However, should someone start complaining about spam, using a "scrub character", or any of those terms that snotty newcomers use to make up for the fact that they don't want to get better, I spam...their inbox. For the fun of course, I don't get serious about that kind of stuff.

Dont give a crap, play to win, if spamming does that then fine by me. But I always send a GG message no matter what, and if someone gives me hatemail I say get over yourself and block communications

Well, yes, Id' consider myself a honorable player.
I will never ever rage quit
I will never send rage messages, or make my opponent feel bad if they lose.
When I see my opponent is good, I'll let them know. No matter if I win or lose.
Most of the times I won't answer rage messages.

Yeah. I never spam cheap moves. I don't uses glitches. And I sure as hell don't teabag.

If I'm being cheap in a game like Call of Duty, I usually don't know it. I think I'm just doing good usually.

But as far as fighting games go. I never use cheap tactics, I go from the heart with pure skill. However, I like to show off. So I use a lot of flashy tactics to dazzle newbies. But I'm never cheap. At least I think I'm not. Hopefully you guys can face me some time when I get my gold account up and rate me. Because I really don't know. :P

I get a lot of ppl teabagging me. I usually quit when I see it.
I play very honorably, but after seeing some of the replies on here, I think I should start being an ******* online...

Proud to say I'm exactly the same. I do consider myself an honorable player, but I can't say I don't use cheap tactics. Reason being, I don't think there's such thing.

A "cheap" tactic only exists until it's been beaten. If you start heavily punishing someone for repeatedly doing the same thing, they will stop doing it. Sometimes you just have to scare them into changing their strategy.

The way I see it, all characters get broken down into their bare essentials, and those essentials are the ones that are meant to be abused to win. There's no point in wasting time on different tactics when you know what the most effective one is. It's like deliberately not choosing the best option. Skill is making the most out of any given situation; not doing so, and knowing better, is just limiting yourself.

man, op you read my mind, im getting really frustrated with douches online.
almost to the point that i wont go online anymore,
are they're any decent people!? who play fair??
who actually know winning with kung lao is nothing to be proud of.

or people who counter pick? like really? eff off!! that doesnt fly! hello hidden cursor..

seriously, i main quan chi, and i've versed ONE other quan online.. but that makes me LOVE him that much more,
i cant believe people are that afraid of losing that they wont deviate from kung,ermac,scorpion.. makes the game so boring.

and i cant believe so many people are pround of being a douche.
but i guesss thats just the mind of a douche..

yes..douche douche douche..

but this is what the op is talking about,

"There's no point in wasting time on different tactics when you know what the most effective one is. It's like deliberately not choosing the best option. Skill is making the most out of any given situation; not doing so, and knowing better, is just limiting yourself"

ok so why then give the character's multiple ways of doing a combo, when there's always one thats the best?
BECAUSE IT GETS BORING DOING/SEEING THE SAME COMBO OVER AND OVER. i get it does the most damage but seriously.. if you play the game alot you should be good enough and to try other combo's for variety, to learn every aspect of your char, not whats just best.

example, ermac players, they all use that same combo.. lift,jumppunch,teleport,2,2,push..
but he has other interesting ones that do near that damage, why not mix it up sometimes and challenge yourself to get better.

why dont we just give all the characters one awesome combo that can be done with one button..

@nomad It all depends on the situation and the best thing to do in it. One good combo is never enough anyway. What I'm saying is that if you're switching it up just to be different, then you're not using your character's full potential. Maybe you're a great player and you can afford to do that, I'm not and so I won't. I'm just trying to teach myself to do the best thing, all the time, and I don't think that's a bad rule to follow.

if my opponent picks kung lao after his first lost, and i win. . .yea, i'll stance dance.
kung lao players have NO excuse for losing. NONE.

How about if someone likes Kung Lao?

Not everybody follows tier lists and things like that.
Some people use Kung Lao not because of how good he is but because *GASP* they actually like him.

You guys are letting your hurt butts cloud your thoughts.

Anyway, I should clarify.
I only go hardcore in Ranked.
In Player, if the guy is just looking for a fun match.
I wont make them rage with my freaky abilities.
I'll loosen up.
