Why don't you think any girls can compete high level in fighting games?

Wow, another thread about females? Like I said before in the last thread, you guys should fight Goddess. Best Kitana you'll ever face. I think she's in a tounament level as well. She's really good.

I use to think Goddess was a dude too until we met here on TRMK. We randomly met on MKvsDC.

She fights like a dude!

Ive fought several confirmed females online inT6 none of them were any good I even decided to be chivalrous after 2 rounds of my Tbaging to throw the 3rd 4th and 5th without being obvious. She screamed Iwon! Iwon! Cackeled and busted my ear drums lol.

i'm always rep-ing O.G and her kitana's skill she may be the only female (other than Alisa and jade) that truely can fight better than me. but my sindel is aparently a god to them.

shout out ladies.

Why are there not many female tournament players? The answer lie in statistics.

There are ten-folds more male gamers than there are females, simply because games appeal more to males than females. These statistics reflect in tournament play. While there may be a number of female gamers, the number of those who are willing to learn competitively should be significantly smaller than the males.

So why? Simply because competitive gaming is a male dominated sport, just like many other popular sports. And incase I get flamed for that, I was talking about the number of players, not skill level.

And I apologise if that came out sexist. I'd like to see the female perspective of things.

I also think there is less support for female players; and goes beyond video games. Even though the WNBA has been established for a over a decade, they don't enjoy nearly as much attention as the NBA.

Fair enough. I guess it's understandable a girl who can beast in a game wouldn't want to attend an event where the male:female ratio is 80:1. But that wouldn't explain why there aren't any popular online females atop the leaderboards.

This isn't true at all. I would RATHER play where the male ratio is higher than play with a higher female ratio.

When I play online, people are always surprised to find out I have a v@gina.

That's totally different. Physically, women can't compete with men in basketball. But in fighting games, physically they're at a level playing field, so the difference has to be psychological.

There's nothing sexist about what's factual. Personally, I don't get sensitive when it comes to these matters and I'm sure the other ladies here don't get offended either.

Umm....I was not talking about women competing directly with men. I was trying to raise the question of whether women are not as encouraged or given as many opportunities to compete at a high level when it comes to certain activities. Chess is a male dominated game, with only 5% of registered tournament players being women, and only 1% of the grandmasters are women.

Well it's all about performance. In basketball women can't do the amazing physical feats/dunks that men can do so really get a tenth of the attention that men get. But if you look at the Olympics, where the girls can shine physically, they get all the attention in gymnastics. Because naturally, on an even playing field, guys would much rather watch girls :)

That's an interesting fact about chess. There's even more of a discrepancy there. Perhaps it is linked to the differences in spatial awareness between men and women, something extremely important in fighting games/chess. This would also answer how women are way more interested in something like poker, and can compete with the male pros at the table, as that relies not just on odds and numbers, but reading your opponents mentally/emotionally as well.

No offense, my friend....but what world do you live in?

Have you ever watched the Olympics? There are guys just as good at gymnastics as the girls, some are even better....and there are chicks in basketball taller and better at dunking than some of the men in the NBA.

Come on, now.....women's sports of course don't get as much attention (I personally prefer men's leagues myself and find female leagues boring) but that doesn't mean there aren't women who are better than men...some of those basketball chicks can easily dance around the boys....

I have a feeling you probably don't watch women's sports and are just making assumptions.

I personally think most woman don't want to learn the mechanics of a fighter. I know way more girls (omg gurls) into shooters then fighters. Maybe they just don't want to learn the mechanics? Just don't have time to invest into a 'repetitive' type of game. I say this but there was this girl clan that any member of this group absolutely handed me my ass on a platter in DOA. It boils down to the person...and genetics.
