Your wishlist for MK10

I'm not denying that SCV had many problems and I wasn't talking about the story there, either. Just the character creator.

But you do have a point. SCV was fun gameplay wise, but it is an example of what can happen if NRS messes up the story. I doubt they will make the same mistakes, though.

screw story and all the other unnecessary shit. Gameplay is above everything.
Today people care a lot for the story and character development is key. We live in a cinematic age for videogames. Fighting games with a good character storylines are very rare. You can simply threw a few out there and make a game with no story whatsoever and I will tell you it'd be a disaster no matter how good the gameplay was.

People's favourites are often based how well they can relate to that character, so I'd say the story is currently VERY important to Mortal Kombat. Story Mode is right away the first thing I'll play.

Same here!!i couldn't wait to play the story mode on mk9.it was the first thing I went to.

I'd be disappointed if MKX had a horrible story, but it wouldn't kill the game for me. To me, the gameplay is what makes MK stand out. Mk has the potential to have an amazing story, but it is often not executed very well. The MK9 story had me rolling my eyes more than a few times, and development was pretty poor.

I find the characters and their stories, as well as the setting, interesting. The actual story itself and how it's been developed in canon?

Nah.

Gameplay being good goes without saying. But story should be important to Mortal Kombat. There's so much they can work with. So many characters and scenarios, and it all just ends up going nowhere. Especially after Deception, the mythology was coming apart at the ing seems.

But I digress. The time when a game could just be a mindless pileup of round after round is over. A solid attempt at a good story should be made. I'm not asking for like "The Dark Knight" or something, but at least something more coherent than the erratic plot of MK9.

^ I think MK9 had a great plot overall, the best in the series after MKD in my opinion, granted of course some things could have been implemented better (Sindel killing off everyone being a major one, I would have preferred if characters died throughout the story and not all in one go), it was overall quite well done with a neat enough ending, especially for a fighting game. I couldn't find anything that one could call "erratic". It stuck to the original canon too, and the significant changes were explained well enough. I hope they continue on with this route for MKX as well, bringing in atleast a few important post MK3 characters.

No, throughout the story is lame. I'd rather have Shao Kahn killing the cast before the final fight, to show his growth from the time Liu Kang spanked his a$$

Great plot, sure... but I feel like it was sorta poorly written. on one hand I can appreciate the game not taking itself too seriously. But I'd definitely appreciate a much more serious approach to writing/execution this time around. IE. No fights like Johnny fighting jax for... almost no reason?

KAF shouldn't get back
if it did, it should be kreate a costume (for the first time i say C is better than K, i mean, can you imagine "kreate a kostume"?)
where you choose a kharacter and edit his costume.
this will solve the girls' "ahem"
and will make nasty shut up for a moment X)

My wishlist for Mortal Kombat X is for the characters to at least have four or five character variations & five alternate original/classic costumes.

Dayumn, that's a bunch to ask for. I'd just play mk9 if I wanted alt and klassic costumes. Just an alt costume is fine for me, but I'm not gonna bag on your wish list.

@Viking Poodle

I really don`t see they trying to be super serious with it and it end up being good.If Mk9 story was a movie,it would be one of those that would be terrible if not funny.

Can you go into more detail on that? I'm curious on your perspective. I feel like they're apples and oranges.

(Except for the female manjawitis.)

I've seen a couple of videos saying it feels like a mixture of Injustice and Mortal Kombat. And the interactables from Injustice are in. Which really pisses me off. I know you can turn them off. But still. It bugs me that they're there.

The interactables are blockable in MKX, so it isn't as crazy as Injustice. Plus using them consumes your stamina bar.

The game has an incredibly fast pace too. We saw in the E3 demo that Sub-Zero was able to punish (Or at least apply pressure to) Scorpion's tree branch jump with a run attack.

I feel like the interactables are more about zoning and mobility than anything else. As BBLP pointed out, they are blockable and not without cost.

And didn't interactables actually begin in MK (MK4 I think) with the rocks, heads, etc? I mean it is MK in its roots, just used most recently in Injustice.

I don't think the game will be Injustice with MK characters, but rather a continuation in the evolution of MK, with Injustice DNA a part of that evolution.

Obviously, I'm only judging from vids (as most are) so yeah, I could be totally wrong.
