who's blame for leaks? NRS OR HACKERS?

Just a comparison, not an accusation; as followed through with my retort, the subject in question is morality. Whoever did this has his or her head in the wrong place, thinking they are doing the community a great service when they are actually skipping to the end of the latest hypothetical Harry Potter novel and reading off the last pages of the story to the cosplaying Hogwartsians in line to purchase it.

And as previously noted, you're incorrect, as the select screen was not on the demo file.

i feel they did do the community a 'great' service, they provided info that was obviously sort after by many.
if people dont have enough will power to stay away from spoiler's.. then its their fault, no ones forcing it on anyone .

I would say that any leaks that came specifically from the demo were more Boon's fault. He knew the problems of hackers searching the code for secrets all the way back during MK3's time, as he says in this old interview.

He said he INTENTIONALLY put false text into the game roms to throw off hackers. This was 15 years ago. So I think that either Boon allowed the demo leak to happen, or he was so busy in the directing job of the game that he forgot about all of the possible hacking problems of releasing the demo, which is doubtful.

Thats very interesting... Surely Boon stuck to his principles by repeating history, either that or he forgot his own trick lol.

I don't think Ed himself is responsible for creating and placing the actual codes in the demo/game, so I believe the latter.

Many ran into it by accident. Several users used the spoiler images as their avatars, meaning every post of theirs became a viral spoiler. So no, for most, it was not a matter of willpower.

Well, i think its a bit of both...

Anyhow, the roster had to leak officially or unofficially..by mid or first week of april...Besides there is only 20 days left before the game releases..so its high time we know everything about the game...

Anyhow i haven't taken a peek at it...and i don't think the leak has spoiled anyone's experience...

^This. If I didn't want to be spoiled, I'd be very angry with those who show absolutely no regard for the fans who want to be surprised. It's purely a matter of respecting your fellow fans. I feel bad for the people who wanted to stay away from spoilers but ran into them unintentionally because some fans are huge jerks. They should be able to enjoy the game spoiler-free just as much as someone who has read every spoiler out there.

Both but im leaning more towards the hackers and it ticks me off even though I have read the spoilers and seen the spoilers it still really ticks me off when I see countless people on here uploading Spoiler pics as their avatars! Have some common curtiousy for other members and fans who have not seen the spoilers. I know a few people who were pretty angry because some guy starts posting and he has spoiler pic in his avatar very annoying!

look the whole community is going crazy, internet is spread with the news etc. all free marketing and advertisement for this great upcoming game. WB and NRS are happy like little birds

its definately hackers fault. but i mean you can get into any games code like this. Demo or Otherwise. i remember in halo 3 there was a skull that required a special sequence to spawn, hackers found the sequence in code and Bungie was pissed lol

obviously the hackers fault!!!... if they didn't go snooping in files then we'd not know a quarter of this stuff leaked..!!!
whole story
characters
ending
alities/etc

When the game is out to download via torrent sites a week before it's in the shops.. hackers will pull that apart too and spoil the whole game again for everyone!!!

bad bad hax0rz!!

Both. NRS for putting so much info in a demo but more so the hackers for digging into things that they're not supposed to. I have no respect nor pity(when they get caught) for hackers.

As for the select screen leak, I've heard that's it's possibly a disgruntled, ex-gaming mag employee who was fired. ZoopSoul, given your background, have you heard anything along these lines?

For the VS. screen caps, that sounds like it was probably someone who hacked into the art files.

The blame game is useless. NRS needs tighter security measures. If the data is out there, a hacker will leak it. It is what it is. That's the way it works. NRS will just have to learn from this.

Hackers will do always what it's supposed them to do : hacking stuff, exploring , exposing weaks, breaking barriers and rules .... it's their job, their philosophy, their way of life ...... so, they have, "theorically" , none fault, since, once they had access to the demo files, they did what was expected coming from them ......

It's more or less like throwing a T-Bone steak to a hungry dog and say : "You should not eat it !!" .... lol, can you stop people to do what naturally they will do, according their nature ? No

The fault is from NRS : they have tools, money and smart people to figure out these things, to protect their product and to promote what should be promoted, and to keep secrets hidden until the right hour ..... if they had planned a demo since the beggining, and worked on a demo version done separatelly from the final version, with only the basic necessary files to run the 4 characters, 2 stages and the video bonus ......

But, no .... instead, they picked a WIP version, with lots of content to be in the final version, and simple built into a limited demo gameplay, but, with all of essential information inside , and released that, in such naive and newbie way, that I am sure that in the day 1 after the demo release, hackers around the world started to copy the content for PC, and using decrypt tools to explore everything inside .... next, spreading around in the Internet like a disease virus , and bingo ! Just needed one considerable site source to have the information and next , everyone had access to see ....

And not being hypocrite, if leaks were not showed, OK, we would continue to speculate about what the next new about the game, but once something is leaked, yeah, lots of people want to see it, for curiosity purpose, or to confirm something ..... I saw all leaked information so far , and I don't regret it, because this will not stop me to want the game anyway, will not convice me to not buy the game .... on the contrary, all this leaks help me to understand NRS & Ed vision about this project, and how things are being put together and what we can expect coming from NRS, regarding this new MK ..... I am really excited to see all this leaked information working for real after 19th April, in my PS3, playing the game and seeing what we already know, being reality .....

And, c'mon, in the end, almost everyone will get bored with story mode, playing it for 2 or 3 times, and challenge tower as well, and so, will give focus for the main purpose and goal of the game : online matches, versus, and tag-team .... and for that online modes, doesn't matter if you know already everyone who are in the game, what matter it's how good you play with the characters , and work hard your rank online position .....

dude there were images EVERYWHERE
GameInformer
TestyourMight.com

people even tricked people on twitter, saying stuff like, "Did you see this?" then have a link that showed the roster, and NONE of the above i stated had anything like a spoiler alert, they just showed the image with the article, and i applaud TRMK.org for NOT doing what the others did.... i was highly upset when i found out about CSZ because when the demo was out, Ed had everyone go to Justin.TV to watch some live footage of the demo, and a bunch of spamtards started flooding about CSZ

this leaked thing is getting out of hand i have never seen a game where majority of its secrets came out BEFORE release i hope NRS does something about this in the next game. makes it ridiculously hard to figure anything out unless they themselves officially announce it

dude im an novice hacker * i hate being called one, i perfer modder*, i can easily access files from a demo * if i had a ps3 BTW* and view the info, the fact is there is not one type of hackers, there are hackers that can be used to prevent attacks, like ATMs and Government mainframes they are called CEH certified ethical hackers and its a JOB then you have the sleezy hackers who expose ish they shouldnt, steal peoples CC and those who do identity theft and apparently leak information on games -__-
