Following up
once again from Ed Boon's recent talk on the Twin Galaxies' live stream the other day, Mortal Kombat's co-creator spoke about the difficulty of creating fighting games, and how important it is that you stick with them to ensure they stay fair and balanced.
Boon was specifically asked in NetherRealm Studios is prepared to grow with
Mortal Kombat X, as it evolves.
"We just want the game to be as fair as possible, as refined as possible," he noted.
"I think it's physically impossible to release a game and have it be perfect, predicting what everybody is going to do. Especially with a fighting game, a competitive game," said Boon.
Netcode for fighting games
Boon was also asked about online play for Mortal Kombat X, and was lead into this statement with Twin Galaxies' owner, Jace Hall, noting that netcode is something you get as right as you possibly can, and as you move forward, you try to improve it.
Boon agreed with this statement, and added, "we're going to be on top of and watching and refining [the netcode] until we get it right."
"It's such a big part of fighting games now, online play, so we have to keep on it until it's right," he concluded.
DLC and additional offerings
Boon was queried about the possibility of adding DLC stages into the mix, when he noted that the way they've coded MKX has opened the door for quite a bit of expansion.
"We've actually wired the game so we can not only download DLC characters, but stages, music — a whole bunch of different content," he said. "DLC stages are a possibility, but we haven't announced anything."
Boon later said DLC could even open the door for stage fatalities, although it's important to note he didn't promise this would happen, just that there's a possibility for it.
In regards to DC Comics characters making an appearance in MKX, he said "probably not," because of fatalities and such, as DC wouldn't sign off on Batman or Superman getting mutilated.

if the NRS community as a whole continue to support, accept and make excuses for a poor (fair at best) online experience, NRS will continue to put out subpar work. MKX is a really good game, held back from being a great game because of the online experiences of many.
MKX isnt free nor is online (PS PLUS), why continue to pay for mediocrity?
