I noticed alot of new comers to online play in mk9

I'm looking for a match in ranked and 1 out of lets say 10 times I find someone with a "weak" record

I also noticed Kung Lao users in average got worst

wdhat gives?

1. Records mean shit
2. People may have bought the game for freddy
3. KL has become the new scorpion, we have all played so many scrubby ones that we can predict their every last move

For me it takes forever to find a Player match....

Kung loas Been the same for me in ranked matches. 50/50 Mix-up Kung loa or raiden (hehe MK joke)

Its maby just you who knows

iknow records are not everything but at the verry least they're something

nah i've noticed it too, so many people in ranked with low or even no (0/0) record recently, iwas wandering the same thing..

This is actually completely untrue because you can easily tell who is good or not.

Obviously if someone is 2000/20 they have been noob boosting.

But if someone is 2000/525 I'm expecting a challenge. And 95% of the time I get one too.

So records do mean a lot if you know how to read them.

No they do not. Online as a whole mean nothing. There are Reptile players that probably have 3000/1000 records online simply because the dash is so unpunishable online that EVERYONE falls for it. If they went to a tourney they would be blown up trying to use lag tactics(Many KL's at EVO did this, and they got killed in their matches).

The ONLY thing it can tell you is how experienced they are, and even then they can still be shitty players who rely on lag and unpunishable online moves to win.

You can try to make an assumption based on record for online purposes and get somewht slight results.

For instance:
Anytime I see someone with equal losses to wins or more losses than wins in Ranked. I pick my side characters or characters I'm "ok" with because I'm confident I don't need my main. And I'm usually 99% right.

Now when it comes to wins vs losses.
Ranked: if they got 2 wins per loss, I can usually get away with playing my 3rd string character (3rd best)
3 wins per 1 loss(or better). I usually go straight for my main. They will normally give me a pretty decent challenge, if not sometimes beat me.

When it comes to PLAYER match matches... They don't mean crap.

You don't choose your opponents in ranked. but you can choose them in player match, and that's why it will never mean anything. My record is like 1090/731 I generally play people of equal skill or greater, but I do run into noobs sometimes. I don't decline invites if someone worse than me wants a match. So I give them 1 set. 2 matches or 3 if they can take one off me. If they beat me I will play them as much as they want because I want to learn.

I fought a cyrax with more losses than wins. And he raped the shit out of me. Why did he have more losses than wins? because he's in a clan and he always plays the same 5 guys over and over and they are all better than him.
