first off THIS IS NOT A REMAKE of the 1982 film. this is in fact a prquel to the 1982 film that tells the story of the team of scientist from norway that discovered the thing first in antarctica, which then leads into the beginning of the 1982 film. here's a trailer.

what do you guys think? personally i think it could turn out to be the best horror to come out in quite some time. i'm pretty pumped for it.

I'll be seiing this day one it looks great action horrors are always fun. i hope they do the originals justice with this prequel thing. can't wait

The 1984 film was so good. The setting, musical score, actors, the theme..

The prequel will have a lot to live upto, though I'm excited none the less.

Always skeptical with horror movies anymore. Dont get me wrong the trailer looks decent and I'm a fan of the original but 9 times out of 10 its a failure. Although blood and gore is nice, it seems that's all these new horror movies have to offer instead of that feeling of being helpless. Not to mention many of these movies seem intentionally cheesy. I'll give it a shot but my expectations aren't high.

Saw this a few days ago. Very interested to see this. It is definitely a interesting enemy to face.

Did this even need to be made? Really?

Possibly the only film trend I see as more stupid than remaking every movie ever made, is making sequels/prequels to movies that came out DECADES earlier. Why bother?

a prequel?!

dont see many of those anymore, it's just remakes most of the time. Anyway, the Thing is one of the most ****ed up and scary monsters in cinema history. I hope they can pull this off. might be good

This'll be interesting. The Thing always stood out as the freakish survival movie that spawned other media such as Dead Space. I thought it was a great concept: as your fighting your enemy, it refuels itself by killing your friends.

Hopefully it's good.

Read an interview with the makers of this film in SciFiNow, today.

They said they want to keep the canon as close as possible. Remember the suicide guy that Mac and Doc find at the start of JC's film? They said you'll find out what happened to him. You'll also find what happened to the Norwegian alien that Mac and Doc find in the ice and take back to their base.

They also said there will be minimial CGI and most of the effects will be animatronic.

Im a bit hyped now, I loved the JC film and i really, REALLY hope this is a worthy prequel.

That is really good news thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see the 21st century thing go at it =P

I have high hopes because I thought the Dawn of the Dead remake was absolutely incredible. It had the spirit of the original, but also a feel of its own, it was just perfect.

Hopefully the team can do it again.
