The Evil Within

Anyone else curious about this game?
Looks promising judging from the first screenshots shown, looks really horror driven. Seeing the screenshots bring me back to when I first saw Dead Space 1's images, so if its anything along the lines of that game, it should be good.

Shinji Makima of Resident Evil fame is stated to be behind this. There were rumors of RE going back to horror, but I really don't give a shit about that series anymore at this point. So I think its cool theres a brand new horror game coming out.

There is a trailer, but no actual footage though, just all flash. But I'm assuming it sets the mood of the game.

this game looks badass! i just hope theres not so much shooting in the game. alot of running away from enemies would be good. cant wait for this game.

I'm looking forward to it, I've been following the game for a few months now.

Kinda hate to say it, but I honestly think this will top any of the future RE games even if they go back to Survival Horror.

Yeah I saw it, and thought that it looked great! Really horror centric, I hope it is slow and moody with an amnesia feel of terrifying. Amnesia has raised the bar on what horror is and how it defines human emotion, The Evil Within appears to be on that caliber.

Hopefully it is not over the shoulder, for preference I would like to see it like how the old RE and Silent Hill cameras worked.

I hope this game out sells RE6 by a million so capcom can eat their words calling survival horror dead.

Getting real ****ing tired of the complaints about QTEs.

I'm not attacking you, Destroyer, but all the criticism towards the QTEs in RE6 was BULLSHIT, because the same reviewers didn't say shit about all the QTEs in Tomb Raider, which can be actually quite hard to pull off.

I'm not hyped for this game though, because it doesn't appeal to me. Looks more like Silent Hill and Amnesia than RE.

Its probably going to be over the shoulder judging from the screenshots with the guns. But very limited shooting. Hopefully you just get a puny pistol the whole game with limited ammo, and maybe some melee weapons. Still keeping the helplessness factor and atmosphere that Amnesia has, but possibly with a little more action and shooting.

That's just my prediction and hopes.

nah its ok shira, but re6 just had too many. i feel like i spent half the game looking at the bottom of the screen. on tomb raider there wasnt as many. and they werent even really hard to do. i played on normal, but they cant be much harder on hard.

what im saying is that im sure they can do without QTE'S in survival horror. they used to.

I actually enjoyed the QTEs in RE6 because they added more variety than the previous shake the shit out of the stick over and over from RE4 and 5.

And they offered some free kills in Mercs mode.

I posted about this in Just Talk a few weeks ago, game actually looks pretty scary. Reminds me alot of Silent Hill.

Yeah, I guess it is over the shoulder. I wish there was no guns but stealth all the way throughout, running and hiding, climbing. Just hope it is guns that fit the theme, not overpowered and...there is only one bullet in the game.

I want this game soooo bad. It looks like they are really trying to bring horror back as a genre. Dead Space stopped being as as scary after the first one and I have yet to play Amnesia. I really hope they hit it out of the park with this game, survival horror needs to make a comeback.

I'm interested in this game. But I still doubt it's gonna scare me >.>

i played Amnesiax2, Outlast. Wasn't scared, and to be honest I didn't even feel tension. I guess i'm just desensitized to horror now. the gameplay here still looks fun so I'm definitely interested.

Also I'm gonna avoid talking RE6 in this thread for Sky's sake.

But on the plus side, I can play the game more comfortably because I'm not scared.

I was a little scared during RE1, but I was alot younger, to the point where I would pause and take huge breaks. I'd play only like 30 minutes and need a break. But overtime I think I've grown use to horror in games.
