Sub-Zero Thread - "Feel Death's Cold Embrace!"

ok i know this is kinda off topic but,
why isnt "Feel death's Cold embrace!" Sub zeros alternate costume's tagline? couldnt they change it so the alternate sub zero would have that?
and the younger brother one have "This fight will be your last!" like it is now.
 
I've used SZ as my #1 main since MK1. His gameplay has gotten slower over the years which pisses me off. Game devs give him stupid, useless moves IMO like ice puddle. I use ice clone only to sych out my opp. If they rush me or use jump ins-no prob. if I'm fighting against a teleport I do a forward dash so I won't get hit.
Sub Zero's main strategy is defense but he's also got phenominal offense if you play him right.
If my opp. blocks high I'll use a simple grap. If he blocks low I'll use the b1,2 starter. These work every time.

Sry fox but I disagree he's a defensive char in this game. He's not as defensive as say noob. But he's def defensive. If u only use iceclone to mindgame and bot to stop pressure/control spacing then ur missing out on a major tool of his! He's kinda like ermac in that he's really good at controlling space and does high damage.

Fox I have to disagree...overall Sub-Zero is a defensive character
 
I don't mean to rile u fox. Playing a char and where a char strenghts lay can be ob opposing ends. I've rushdown with my noob vs smoke and won before. I played him offensively. He's still a defensive char. Sz is more offensive then noob but is still a def char.

Well, guys, Fox17 is half correct. It is a shame that most people use Sub-Zero by hiding behind an ice clone. However, I do disagree with the rest. Sub-Zero is nowhere near the best rushdown character, nor is he primarily a rushdown character at all.

I think I can come up with a statement about Sub-Zero that we all can agree on..

Sub-Zero is more of a defensive character than an offensive character, yes. But Sub-Zero's primary goal is to mount a strong offensive after defending attacks and zoning the opponent into a preferred position (such as a corner or a baited teleport).

I wouldn't call Sub-Zero a defensive character, nor would I call him an offensive character. I would call Sub-Zero a countering character.

You sweetheart, you. Haha this is always how I've thought of Sub-Zero. He has good defensive and good offense, but using him as one or the other is seriously limiting his versatility. He can play great offense and great defense depending on the situation. The situation does however, in my opinion, determine when to play defensively and when to play offensively.

I NEVER hind behind an ice clone. While playing the AI in offline I'll use it frequently but for online use I only use ice clone as I previously mentioned.The reason is that the AI, with the exception of say JC or Reptile, always rush in against me. When I'm playing an online match my opp usually plays defense as am I. So we feel each other out 1st round. Then hammer each other the 2nd; me using both off/def-ensive moves.

I completely agree with this. SZ IS a strategic fighter. That's why IMO he is and will the best fighter and my personal fav.

id agree with that. if you can read your opponent well his ice clone is godly. if not its just something you get lucky with. it makes his corner game tho :P

Exactly. That's one of the things I love about him, he's really strategic. A thinking man's character lol. A good Sub-Zero player really has to out think his opponent, bait 'em, trap 'em, and punish the ever-living hell out of 'em.

I know what a NJP is, just never heard of that.
 
You know what I would love? If Sub Zero got an extra ice clone move that made you jump forward instead of backward. Or maybe that could be his enhanced version. This would be perfect to stop teleporters. I usually already do the ice clone and then dash forward and most people will fall for it and teleport into it, but against a skilled opponent it's useless. They'll even just punish your ice clone with a teleport by doing it as soon as you do the ice clone, before you can block again. Being able to throw an ice clone behind you would be great as you can then mix up between the two and throw off your opponent. I'm actually missing this move more than I'm missing a move to quickly get over to the other side to combo a frozen target after an iceball.

Something else that annoys me about him is when try to an iceball and the enemy teleports, making you do the slow ass ice puddle move instead.... Although it's actually perfect against raiden's teleport...

I know what a NJP is, just never heard of that.

Cross Jump Punch is when you Jump to the other side passing over the frozen opponent.

JP: Jump and Punch
NJP: Neutral Jump Punch (in Stance)
Croos JP: Jump over the opponent and punch him in the air when you are at the other side, is hard to explain...
 
I admit the iceclone idea would be anazing. But id worry if it would unbalance him as he's alredy such a powerful char. Considered top tier almost universally and for good reason. I...wouldn't be against it tho :p
 
Do you know what would be better?

If Sub-Zero gets his Ice Parry back, if you watch the first Sub-Zero gameplay you will see he has the Ice Parry move, so awesome, Its a shame NRS removed it to give it to CSZ...
