[SPOILER] Everything about story mode. Pics, videos, discussion, etc.

From a gameplay standpoint, I really get it and appreciate it. It's not something I dislike, it's just what I blame for some roster wonkiness. Another problem is the perhaps over abundance of Special forces characters. The story has grown me an appreciation for Kung Jin, but i still think they might have had someone different in his place. Or Jax's place, or Jacqui's place. I know it's a matter of personal preference but these military driven characters are just super boring.

Even as a massive fan of Ermac, I find it baffling he was included on the roster and irrelevant in the story (same Erron Black). I'm glad they survive and the opportunity is there to play them again. Their gameplay is fantastic. But why make them playable if they aren't in the story.

Definitely, there was definitely a gap between the creative team and the design team. They likely built the roster, possibly just in terms of gameplay, before they wrote the story.

it's just so strange to see Li Mei, Tanya, Sareena, and Rain and Frost get this unusual amount of attention.... more so than, say, Reptile, Ermac, Erron Black, etc. YOU EVEN FIGHT AGAINST THEM! Why can't you play as them. WTF?
I don't disagree that it's odd. But I prefer gameplay to have priority over the story, so I'm good.

Frost has a 10-second cameo, btw. She's not on the same level as Tanya and Rain. Sareena and Li Mei have minor roles, but are not fought.

Wow, that's very interesting. What's the deal with that? Were you being serious when you said they love being evil? Or was Raiden unable to save them for some reason?

honesltly i dont see them being truly evil but i could see a edenia and netherealm story with earthrealm being involved with dark raiden being pissed off this is going on

Kitana, Kung Lao and Liu Kang never get revived and they never get old.

All those costumes are non canon. Subbie's main is non canon too, weirdly enough.

Why Liu, Lao and Kitana are playable over Tanya, Rain and Fujin (who are free and NPCs even fightable the first two) is beyond me. Probably NRS being afraid of freaking casuals not buying the game because those 3 fan favourites are not playable.

Makes sense unfortunately. Tanya, Rain and Fujin don't pull numbers like Liu, Kitana and Lao do.

Raiden was only able to save Scorp, Sub and Jax because NRS only needed them alive for the story... er, because they were the only ones there when Quan Chi's spell is broken. The rest of the revenants were elsewhere, so the magic logic dictates that you need to be within a certain range of the spell being broken, lol.

I haven't seen the last chapters, but from what I hear, Liu and Kitana don't need to be Netherrealm's leaders, but they choose to.

Kung Lao and Liu Kang are shown here with Raiden in the Shaolin Trailer. It's clearly from story-mode, but how? If Liu Kang and Kung Lao are never revived, where the hell did this come from? Bot of them are even shown fighting Tarkatans.

It's not that Rainden was unable to same them
The restored characters *jax and subz* just got restored because of a coincidence

That's a flashack. Have you played Shaolin Monks? Tarkatans captured some monks in between MK1 and MK2. Liu and Lao went to rescue them. It's referenced in MK9. This is that.

They are all wearing MK1-3 costumes there so it would make sense for it to be a flashback.

Another Flashback to when Liu Kang and Kung Lao tag-teamed Baraka.

I knew they were wasted roster slots. And they are. Even if Rain, Tanya and Fujin are too weak to pull in the same numbers, they could have worked something out. This actually pisses me off quite a bit. I hate how they cater to their loud and obnoxious fans who stomp their feet if some overplayed character doesn't make the roster. It's bs. Rain and Fujin are popular enough to please a decent chunk of the fan base. But no. They gave well deserved spots to "what if" characters.

The evolution of this series is taking way too long. It's Mortal Kombat. It has Scorpion, Sub Zero and Raiden. That's more than enough to get people on board.

While I agree, smart business comes first for WB. For what it's worth, MK is still one of the most creative series in this industry at the moment, so I'm not complaining.

I can't help but think that people like Rain, Li Mei, Tanya, and other post MK characters that are actually IN the game were cheated out of a roster spot because people begged for Kang, Kitana, and Kung Lao to be in, when they all 3 were literally only in the game for 2 fights (OR LESS in Kitana's case) and had almost no lines.
I mean seriously, Tanya had plenty of lines, in contrast, Kitana had one.
Rain had around 10 lines, in contrast, Ermac had 3.
Fujin had about 13 lines, in contrast, Reptile had 2.
Hell, even Sareena had more lines than 35% of the roster, and she just had one continuously short-to-long line.

I feel like respect is more valuable than feeding the same garbage to the same whiny brats over and over again. They lost a lot of respect from me after this whole Kitana/Liu/Kung Lao mess.

Apparently that's not enough. the positive i see in this is that . That liu kang will get the progession he needs. They might explore his and kitana's relationship a bit deeper. Tbh honest insted of waiting for mk11 they should expand the story through dlc by adding new chapters and stages and characters sadly i dont see that happening
