This disappointed me. I hoped they would at least mention it, but nope. I thought maybe Kitana and Mileena would confront each other, because hey, that's a good story-line. I expected Liu Kang to have SOME story significance, but that was never going to happen anyway.

Man...the things NRS could have done.

And, seriously, Shinnok as the final boss? What a surprise, Ed. What a surprise...

But I like the story from what I've seen so far, I just wish they had done more.
 
Well Ive managed to pretty much keep everything semi spoiler free for myself. But from what i have seen I got to say i am impressed. I see alot of hate and mixed feeling about what's happening in story mode.

From what i have seen:

-Kano (my fav) has whats looks to get into a very nice rumble with Kotal Kahn and then gets stabbed in the back...Ironically
Later he escapes as usual and has a confrontation with Sonya. While the cutscene was pretty much one sided it was actually nice to see all those yrs of tension between the 2 fought out. But once again he managed to not get killed. (Don't know if he's seen again or not)
-D'Vorah's chapter was pretty sweet. And while I figured Mileena would die eventually i think her death was alil premature for my liking. I wish it was alil later in the game, you know, to build up to it. Kotal Kahn pretty much dissed her by not killing her himself. But i will admit that was a pretty epic death she had received. I hope others that die in the game will be given the same respect and not just forgotten.

See, this was Ed Boon's plan all along. State the final boss would be a surprise returning character to start all the crazy speculation. All the fan theories and stories, all the fake leaks, all the possibilities. Fire God Liu Kang, Corrupted Fujin, Reiko, Havik, Onaga, Cyber Mokap...and in the end it was good ol Shinnok all along. So, in the end we are indeed surprised, it was indeed a surprise returning character because after all the hype nobody expected Shinnok to show his skeletal ass again.

Sektor was killed by Sub-Zero when Sub took over the Lin Kuei.
Baraka was killed by D'Vorah when Kotal overthrew Empress Mileena.
Mileena was killed by D'Vorah when she was captured by Kotal.
Quan Chi was killed by Scorp and Sub.
 
Is shinnok truly dead he is still blinking and moves mouth. Could be nerves but isn't he immortal unless their going highlander route.
