Everything about story mode. Pics, videos, discussion, etc.

could liu kang mkx arcade ending consider be cannon since he becomes the ruler of the neathrealm like at the end of the story mode

I wonder if Jade's non-Revenant look is supposed to tell us that she somehow escaped because we don't hear anything about her the whole game. I don't think she's making Kitana hate Raiden though, it seems more like she's doing something that causes Kitana to have that vision. The hatefulness towards Raiden is probably stemming from being a Revenant.

Kahn Killer Thanks for going back and checking about Kitana's body, was curious about that myself. I'm hoping this ending retcons that tho. It's somewhat comforting to know that the old timeline is doing okay too.

If that is canon, it leads us to think if anyone else survived Armageddon. It has been confirmed no one but Kahn, Taven and Shinnok did, but that is still canon-in-training, meaning it is canon unless stated otherwise in the games, and that just happened.

Even if Kitana did kill Shao Kahn, they've still got Shinnok to take care of, which I doubt Kitana will be able to do alone, even with the entire Edenia by her side.We could be looking at an Old Timeline Netherealm War, but without many major players such as Johnny and Raiden.

A retcon that allows Kitana to survive is very possible.Mortal Kombat suffered many retcons through it's history such as the events that led to Scorpion's death and even the first tournament's champion.

If the Old Timeline still exists...maybe Taven DID stop Armageddon, as Blaze did not rip the realms apart. So maybe Raiden didn't send the message back in time to save the realms from Armageddon, but to save his own skin from it.

The old timeline has been forgotten to the extent that we never got a clear answer on what exactly happened after Armageddon. All we have to go on is Shao Kahn came out as top dog. With no clarification on where Tavens side of the story fits in. For all we know Kitana's ending is showing a completely different universe within the old timeline. I hope some answers are shed regarding this ending in future games. Also I'm pretty sure Raiden will be around since him being a God means he comes back like he did in MKD.

Wow, throwing major shade at Raiden there XD But fair enough it's a good point. Raiden may have had his own personal motives for the messages but I'm sure he felt that things were so out of hand that it's better to just kind of reset things. One thing I'm curious about though, where were the Elder God when Shao Kahn was tossing Raiden around like a marionette? Obviously if Shao Kahn is uber powerful now he poses a threat to them, seems so out of character for them to not react at all while all that is happening.

Edit: Just saw D'Vorah's ending and I am speechless she's definitely gonna be stirring up something whenever she'll pop up in the future.

When Taven beat Blaze, all the kombatants gained extra strenght, with him ascending as an Elder God.When they all became stronger, Kahn killed Onaga and made his way back to the battlefield, where pretty much everyone was dead already.

He pushed aside anyone who was still alive and went after Raiden on top of the pyramid. They fought and Shao Kahn came out as the victor.

The Elder Gods didn't interfer as that was their plan from the very beginning, Taven would harness Blaze's power and empower every other kombatant, creating a massacre and starting anew with only one survivor.

Considering the fact they punished Raiden for sacrificing himself to try and defeat the Deadly Alliance, he was no longer their problem.

Shinnok sent his clone to battle instead of him, having deducted the plan of the Elder Gods, he waited for the perfect moment to strike after the battle was won.If Kitana did not survive, he would probably be the one to kill Kahn and take the realms for himself.

Armaggeddon was probably only delayed though, as Raiden's medallion was a sign he didn't die by Shao Kahn's hand, but could eventually die by Liu Kang's hand or even Kitana's.

At least that's what I understood lol

Amazing. Thanks man.

Tho whether it's Shinnok or Shao Kahn if either of them united all the realms they would awaken the One Being who is out for the Elder Gods' blood, which is why I'd think they'd be a little more proactive in this situation.

If we get a 50 chars roster with all the MK9 and MKX chars plus a bunch of newcomers then I welcome MKA2.

The Elder Gods wanted to prevent Armageddon by neutralizing the Kombatants, either by killing them, or stripping them of their powers, nothing more.

Only the One Being wants to start the world anew, and is implicitly hinted to have some control over Shao Kahn's (and Onaga's before him) lust for Konquest.

Why revive a servant who failed him?

How did Chuckles fail Shinnok, he used his last breath to free him from the amulet. If anything, I'd say he can't do it.

Think about it, what use is a necromancer if you can resurrect the dead yourself. The Elder Gods probably stripped much of Shinnok's power to avoid an other insurrection.

I really don't get why so many people hate on Armageddon, Midway did their best to end the series with all the characters that have ever been present, but the limitations of the PS2/Wii era prevented them from going much farther.

I believe we'll never get something like Armageddon again, it would be unbalanced, even if it would be fun.

Armageddon still stands as my favorite game in the series, probably thanks to the fun you could have by playing with all the characters ever on MK.
