SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

It seems that Outworld uses its nature as a weapon. The Tormentors were rampaging through the streets in MK9. Completely immune to gunfire and RPG's. Dragons were fighting choppers on the rooftop levels. Tarkatans are as expendable as they come and god knows what else Outworld has at its disposal.

For all we know, their equivalent to a nuke is using a portal to transport a city leveling worm to rampage about.

How can it be official if it's not 100% faithful to the Source Material?

Being unfaithful to the Source Material didn't stop MKX from being official, or MK9... or MK:A... or every other game in the MK franchise which retconned previous events freely.

If NRS can't be bothered to be 100% consistent, I see no reason why Kittelsen ought to.

I have a question. Why didn't they nuke some portals on Earth when it got invaded by Outworld? I'm pretty sure even Shao Kahn would get obliterated. Suddenly Raiden, Elder Gods and the entire MK tournament mumbo jumbo doesn't even matter anymore. I mean Kano has some sort of a portable nuke blaster, a thing that doesn't even exist nowadays. Don't tell me that's simply not possible because...magic.

We need Nuke as a character for the next MK game. Instant win as soon as round begins.

By the way, regarding lighting on Reptile in the first chapters...There's something called saturation and hue...You'd be surprised how colour can change.

Presumably, Elder Gods still > all (except Johnny Cage :-D), so that is why the only way Shao Kahn could be defeated, after the tournament was OK'd, is in accordance with tournament rules.

But couldn't they just nuke Shao Kahn? No Shao Kahn = no problem.

I find it even more ridiculous that an Outworld force, which is comparable to some bronze age/medieval horde of unorganized Orcs, could somehow overcome Earthrealm's armies in MK9. Even Raiden in MK9 noted how technologically backwards Outworld was.

And now Kano demonstrated this magic beam weapon, which is no bigger than some kind of an SMG, that somehow results in a nuclear explosion. I then assume that ICBMs, MIRVs and nuclear bombs exist too...Like what is the point of this entire MK nonsense then? And why the hell doesn't Kano use this gun in the game? He'd be instant top tier.

I could buy it if Earth's forces weren't as advanced or numerous. Now...I...Don't get it anymore.

Because Shao Kahn's invasion lasted less than 2 days iirc. America isn't going to nuke a threat in less than 2 days of conflict. That's extremely irrational. They had no idea who or what Shao Kahn was. They didn't know the power he had.

Didn't you watch MK9's story mode? The Tarkatans used firearms against the soldiers. Plus Tormentors are the equivalents to tanks and Dragons were destroying helicopters. Let's not forget Quan Chi's Soulnado. Which killed an entire city. Outworld may be behind technologically, but their secrets are just as deadly as anything Earthrealm has. Maybe even more so.

And I doubt that a nuke could kill Shao Kahn. Onaga survived a nuke from a God. I'm sure Kahn could take a blast created by humans.

Are large crossings from ER to OW possible or easy? I mean the opposite is obviously true but i never felt that ER had an easy time crossing.

It's irrational? Some portal opens and a freak show influx starts coming out rapidly. An invasion that Earthrealm soldiers, that have aim worse than Imperial Storm Troopers, cannot stop. So therefore why not drop a tactical nuke on their heads? Or heck, why not arm as many soldiers as possible with this nuclear laser beam of Kano's? It's densed, and as MKX Nukes have demonstrated, there are no effects of:
Blinding
Immolation
Radiation
A huge shockwave that would break everyone apart in its area of effect, essentially making the most realistic Xray/Fatality ever put into MK.
etc etc etc

All it is just an explosion. Powered by MKX "Atoms". Otherwise nobody would survive what Kano has done.
It just cheapens and makes almost everything pointless.
Imagine Commander-in-Chief saying the following:
"Look guys, I know we are losing a lot of ground and we cannot do anything to stop it. I know that we have weapons of mass destruction that were invented for such a task, but we're not going to do it. We're just going to send incompetent soldiers inside a meat grinder, and hope some Thunder God is going to save us!"

We've only seen a few crates of firearms. Big deal. And what makes a dumbass Tarkatan more adept with guns than a Storm Trooper wannabe? Nothing. I'd pick Storm Troopers over Tarkatans any day for the sole fact that Tarkatans never seen a gun before in their lives.

At this point it's nitpicking. I can do the same by saying "yeah well, what about jets? cruise missiles? hundreds of types of ammunition? fleet? nukes? chemical weapons? all the other things that don't even exist IRL but exist in comics?"

It's simply dumb IMO.

And I doubt that a nuke could kill Shao Kahn. Onaga survived a nuke from a God. I'm sure Kahn could take a blast created by humans.

That wasn't a nuke. And nuclear blasts aren't created by humans...dafuq are you on...

I don't understand why you're so hung up on this. Applying realism to Mortal Kombat makes no sense. Not even Telepathy works on Outworlders. There's no telling what else doesn't work. There isn't enough info for you to get so butthurt about this. Take it for what it is, nonfiction.

Nukes are created by humans though. And their power can be measured. Power, that I don't believe is enough to kill Shao Kahn. Which doesn't even matter, because that scenario isn't even likely.

Funny how you mention "applying realism to Mortal Kombat makes no sense", and yet...Refresh my memory...Which developer started to pretend recently about "oh! it's always been about realism, and how realistic everything should look.". Shouldn't the comic books be the same?

I'm not butthurt, just pointing out some shoddy writing.

I could write paragraphs about nukes and how controlled explosions are made but meh. You'd probably get an idea that I'm simply being butthurt.

ps i find it funny too how punches and kicks can kill shao kahn, but not a nuke

Somehow, I don't think this nuclear cannon Kano has is something that's been mass-produced that much. How do you know it's something the heroes would be able to pull out whenever they wanted to? Or that the U.S. government would just want to/able to hand it out to soldiers? And there's no telling if trying to fire a nuke through a magical portal will actually work, or just result in disaster on both sides. And I don't think Kano could have used a nuke at any point in MKX without, you know, killing himself too.

And NRS's talk of "realism" was only in regards to character aesthetics... that was seriously it.

The comic is not canon at all. It's just a cool little what if story to get us to buy the main game. The comic did it's job well, many have the game like me.
