SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

Since the NR War happens in the comics, I don't think that Shinnok will have an important role in the game. You are absolutely right, and I didn't expect him to win the NR war, but if the war was included in the story mode in the game, as the first part of the story, I would 90% believe that he is playable... Maybe I'm just getting dissapointed too fast as he is one of my fav.

The NRW will happen in the game. I'm not sure what made you think that won't happen, but it absolutely will. Shinnok will at the very least be an unplayable boss. (covering my tracks: we don't know this for a fact, but I give it like 99.999% likelihood)

Oh, ok then, I thought that the stories in the comic wouldn't be included in the game like in injustice. Actually that made me angry. I have read the comics, but I was thinking about the people that didn't do so. (For Injustice)

Didn't Ed say we will have parts from neatherealm and Outworld Civil War, but some parts would be in the form of flashbacks Depending on character played at time.

Well the NRW didn't even happen in the comic. It was just mentioned
edit: whoops

I never said or implied Liu Kang's soul being under Quan Chi's control.
I was replying to the "Fortunate few, miraculously restored to life" part.
I could see NRS expanding on Raiden using his healing powers in MK9, with Liu Kang not being "fully dead" but rather "mostly dead" (insert Princess Bride joke :)) and healing Liu Kang.

Oh, I gotcha. Well there are three ways for Liu Kang to return - either through having never actually died, or being resurrected by Raiden, or being resurrected by the Elder Gods for their own purposes. I actually wouldn't mind any of these three. Even if we assume his endgame to be challenging Raiden for the role of protector of Earthrealm regardless of how he's resurrected, that story would play out quite differently based just on the method of his return.

Kano joining Raiden? I seriously doubt it.

Stranger things have happened, Kano joined forces with Sonya to defeat Goro in canon MK1. It would make Kano less of a one-dimensional villain if he's able to appreciate the difference between warlord Shao Kahn ruling Earthrealm and a demonic, corrupt God ruling Earthrealm. So I definitely see NRS being interested in this option.

The more likely scenario, IMO, is that Goro joins Raiden after Kotal Kahn kills Mileena, given that Raiden also seems to be against Kotal Kahn, per the Raiden reveal trailer.

I'm talking about the roster during the Netherrealm War specifically, when Raiden desperately needs bodies and would be willing to forgive all sorts of past misdeeds. If Goro joins Raiden, that would happen way, way later.

I think you might have a slight continuity error right there, Kotal couldn't have killed Mileena until AFTER the netherrealm war is over, to give way for the civil war arc.

Also I didn't really get the impression that Raiden was really against Kotal Kahn in the reveal trailer. Boon just said that Raiden had bad history with Outworld and that it would be fitting to have him fight the current Emperor.

Their relationship in the comics doesn't really seem to have any animosity. Kotal honestly has more reason to dislike Raiden cause he isn't keeping his promise.

I meant after the civil war, more specifically after comic #6 which came out this Sunday, where Mileena asks Goro to help her out in defeating Kotal Kahn.
I'm thinking that Kotal does kill Mileena and becomes emperor and Goro having no one to serve after Mileena either joins Raiden to take down Kotal Kahn or gives Raiden assistance to deal with Kotal Kahn.

It seemed like Ed was hinting at Raiden being against Kotal like he was against Kahn and having a bad history with Outworld Emperors.
Dunno.
Maybe I'm reaching, and you're right, it could just be for that sake of the reveal trailer.

We already know the game will be back and forth in time, so I expect to see something about the NRW and to play some fights in that time too.

Hell, NRW sounds amazing... Netherrealm invading Earthrealm? I want to see that, imaging all the wraiths, revenants and onis coming out of a portal at Quan Chi's orders...

Commander Ahhhh ok lol I read it as though Kotal kills her to take the throne during the NRW and then sends Goro to help Raiden.

Thanks for clearing that up haha

I guess we'll know for sure in less than 2 months :3

That's another thing that I've been wondering about, do you guys think we'll be fighting low-level NPC mooks during story mode (for the sake of making the conflict seem more grandiose)?

Nah. ;)
I meant after the NRW, Kintaro's Shokan army fails to stop Kotal Kahn and Kotal Kahn kills Mileena.
Goro then seeks Raiden's allegiance as there is no one left to restore the Shokan to their former glory (if Mileena dies).

Could Happen. NRS tried to expand their story telling in MK9 and Injustice with every way possible. I wouldn't even be surprised if we see some mini games like in injustice. However I don't think theyre going to do it in a cheap way. They will just add up to the wole story mode

They should make an open world game addressing all of these wars.

Imagine in the middle of story mode something like that

Or even better, a future sole game on the style. CANON.

Man you have no Idea how I would like to play an open world MK game in which you create your own character. Or a Shaolin Monks 2 game :ftw:

I'd like another Shaolin Monks game actually. That game was a lot of fun and was my first RE-exposure to MK since UMK3 So it holds a special place in my heart :3

They could expand their plot possibilities and length a lot by having the "courage" to not ride the Earthrealm warriors all the time in story mode. When two bad or neutral groups fight each other we should play from their point of view, even if there are no White Lotus or Special Forces involved.

I'd love a big Outworld civil war plot where I play people from both Kotal and Mileena's factions as they fight people as bad as they are.
But if they do it MK9 style they'll come up with excuses for us to fight everyone as Kung Lao or Raiden etc. and that really limited the story in quality and quantity of fights.
