SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

I just kinda hope they go back to the original artist for these next issues. Sorry, but I really had a tough time getting through some of the panels looking like all the coloring was just fill in the blank spots with little to no shadowing or lighting effects. It sorta... distracted me.

But I'm sure all the complaints were already said so I don't think adding more is gonna do anything. Just can't wait for the next issue... that's... all the way in May.

Right?

So they had a different artist? I knew it looked different. The Kotal Origin comic had such weak art compared to the other issues. It looked like a cheap gas station comic.

I know its a common thing in comics but I really hate when they switch artists and their art style is completely different. I hated how the last issue looked.

Hey, it gets these things out quicker. I myself don't mind. Wasn't too distracting. Obviously, though: the more of the first guy, the better.

No, that's #6 of the print comic, which will collect Chapters 16-18. Comic companies do their print solicitations months in advance for preorders. Digital chapters still come every Sunday.

$3.99?

18 characters 18 characters

It's the physical comic, not the digital one.

Yes, the artist was Geraldo Borges and colored by Mark Roberts for the latest comic. It's usually the art is by Dexter Soy and the coloring is by Veronica Gandini.

I prefer no more guest artists if the guests are going to be that horrible with the designs and coloring.

Oh okay I see now, thanks for clearing that up!

We might be seeing Rain soon.

Well, not really, but it's a good sign. Here's another.

That is FANTASTIC news! Rain in the freaking comic!?! And I loved the comic already so much!

Kittelsen, you are my hero! I wished you was Ed Boon... :-( If it was Ed Boon's comic then Scorpion would probably be in every drawing...

This still gives me hope for Rain, and i'm extremely curious what his role will be and with Rain in the comic, there are more chances for Tanya to be in too!

Rain in the comic = Rain deconfirmed playable.

Not really, that depends on what outfit he wears in the comic... MK9 clone = no Rain in game probably

A very new and unique outfit gives him more chance to be in the game, probably as a secret character though.

I don't see how this makes sense. Scorpion is in the comic. Cassie is in the comic. Goro is in the comic. Does that mean neither of them is in the game too?

I think alot of people are going off NRS saying not everyone in comic will be in game. The thing is anytime a character who is not top tier (scorpion for example) is shown, people say that they wont be in game or they will die. I think they should have never said that, I know it builds hype and so on. But twitter is crazy with this character is dead he/she was in comic or Ed hates Rain.

I should have added... Rain in comic + Challenge Tower => unplayable. There's maybe a chance for him, but it's pretty low.

I sincerely apologize if this has been posted already:

So the print Mortal Kombat X Issue #2 has a little "prologue" before the actual comic. It provides background of what happened directly after MK9.

For those who don't want to read it, I'll post in spoiler tags:

Spoiler:
Even after defeating the evil Shao Kahn, humanity was not safe.

A fallen Elder God named Shinnok rose to lead the undead armies of Netherrealm against us in a war that nearly destroyed Earthrealm. Nearly.

Against all odds, Raiden and his champions prevailed. Shinnok was imprisoned and his undead army was driven back to Netherrealm - except for a fortunate few, miraculously restored to life, and granted the opportunity to set things right...

Previously in Mortal Kombat X:

Given a second chance at life, Hanzo Hasashi aka "Scorpion" reformed the Shirai Ryu clan and took in Takeda, son of the swordsman Kenshi, as his latest apprentice. But after a demon posessed one of Hanzo's students via an ancient dagger and massacred the rest of his clan, Scorpion vowed to finish the being who had originally given him the dagger - Raiden!

Meanwhile...

After Emperor Shao Kahn's death, his sole heir Mileena claimed the throne of Outworld. As the war between Earthrealm and Netherrealm threatened to spread to Outworld, Empress Mileena refused to coordinate a defense effort, ignoring the pleas of her War Chief, Kotal. Finally, after a great battle, Mileena was overthrown. Those who sided with the would-be Empress became enemies of the new Emperor, now calling himself Kotal Kahn.

And thus the Outworld Civil War began...

Since the NR War happens in the comics, I don't think that Shinnok will have an important role in the game. You are absolutely right, and I didn't expect him to win the NR war, but if the war was included in the story mode in the game, as the first part of the story, I would 90% believe that he is playable... Maybe I'm just getting dissapointed too fast as he is one of my fav.

I think the war will be included.
"It's a direct continuation, but the timespan it crosses is 25 years in length," Boon explained regarding Mortal Kombat X's storyline. "There are periods that are directly after MK9, then there are periods that are five, ten, 15 and 20 years out. A lot of the events take place 25 years after where we see older versions of the characters, like Cassie Cage and all that. But it does jump around in time; it's not a linear thing."

I'll reply to the spoiler tag in a spoiler tag, as well:

Spoiler:
- Shinnok is imprisoned by Raiden again (this would be the 2nd time that Raiden imprisons him, since he was also imprisoned during the events of MK9), so I'm hoping that this means that he's an unplayable sub-boss, and not taking up a roster slot.
Shinnok being an unplayable sub-boss and having his MK4 character copy move without morphing would make him VERY unpredictable in Ladder Mode and give us a good challenge. ;)
I hope that's the case.

- "except for a fortunate few, miraculously restored to life, and granted the opportunity to set things right..."
So Jade and some of the others are staying dead. Good.
I know that this was semi-confirmed with Kitana's "Mournful" variation, but good to see more solid confirmation that some of the dead characters won't get the Kung Lao and Kitana treatment.
Also, I'm guessing that even though Liu Kang isn't under Quan Chi's control, that he will be 1 of the "fortunate few, miraculously restored back to life," because he's only been absent 1 game, thus far.
Maybe Liu Kang isn't "all dead" but rather "mostly dead" and Raiden completely heals him.

- Good to see more story info on how Kotal Kahn became Emperor of Outworld. :-D

Exactly as I have been thinking about Kitana, Kung Lao and Kuai Liang (probably)'s ressurrection.

That's why Kung Lao is visibly old. Maybe Sub-Zero will return older.

It would be good if he aged slowly. Not TOO slowly, like after 25 years he looks the same, but with time being a lot generous with him.
