SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

Apparently the print issue had a summery in it about the Netherrealm War
Spoiler:
Even after defeating the evil Shao Kahn, humanity was not safe.

A fallen Elder God named Shinnok rose to lead the undead armies of Netherrealm against us in a war that nearly destroyed Earthrealm. Nearly.

Against all odds, Raiden and his champions prevailed. Shinnok was imprisoned and his undead army was driven back to Netherrealm - except for a fortunate few, miraculously restored to life, and granted the opportunity to set things right...

Yeah, but i think that movie was quite bad. Cammy had no fight scenes and she just kept following Guile the whole movie. But i can't say much, cause i almost don't know anything from Street Fighter.

Oh, the movie had little to no relevance to the main canon of the SF games. Yes, Bison is the main bad guy, and yes, he killed Guile's best friend and mentor Charlie, which is why he wants revenge... but the similarities stops there.

Actually, they merged Charlie with Blanka, which no doubt contributed to the movie sucking...

While the TRUE main characters of SF were reduced to being con artists.

Nice! Sounds like we're in for a pretty lengthy game!

Which is why I said the similarities stopped there, as that is not the case in the games' main canon.

Confirmation beyond the shadow of a doubt that Shinnok is in the game. Also kind of spoils his fate, for anyone who might be tempted to read. :/

As for Kung Lao/Kitana/Jax's return... that will surprise precisely zero people.

- Shinnok was
Spoiler:
imprisoned, again, by Raiden.
So, possible cameo only for Shinnok?
Sweet!!!

Meaning, that Quan Chi will probably have a more prominent role. :-D

- "Fortunate few, miraculously restored to life" Kitana, Kung Lao..... Jax?..... Liu Kang?

- "Against all odds, Raiden and his champions prevailed." Sonya, Johnny and Fujin, possibly?

Doesn't make much (any) sense for Liu Kang's soul to be in Quan Chi's possession, but I guess stranger things have happened.

You say that like before you read this quote, you thought it would be different characters winning the NRW. :P Also potentially Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Kano could all side with Raiden.

That Shinnok will propably not be playable:bubbrubb: Iwas waiting for so long for him to return :toilet:

What do you base that on...? Did you think Shinnok was going to win the Netherrealm War? Lol. This changes nothing.

edit: if anything, the fact that he leads the invasion ups his chances of being playable significantly.

I never said or implied Liu Kang's soul being under Quan Chi's control.
I was replying to the "Fortunate few, miraculously restored to life" part.
I could see NRS expanding on Raiden using his healing powers in MK9, with Liu Kang not being "fully dead" but rather "mostly dead" (insert Princess Bride joke :)) and healing Liu Kang.

No.
Those are just my predictions for the roster: Sonya, Johnny and possibly Fujin if Raiden recruited him right after MK9.
Fujin appears in the comics AFTER the NetherRealm War, but it doesn't say anything about Fujin before that.
Kano joining Raiden? I seriously doubt it.
The more likely scenario, IMO, is that Goro joins Raiden after Kotal Kahn kills Mileena, given that Raiden also seems to be against Kotal Kahn, per the Raiden reveal trailer.

Since the NR War happens in the comics, I don't think that Shinnok will have an important role in the game. You are absolutely right, and I didn't expect him to win the NR war, but if the war was included in the story mode in the game, as the first part of the story, I would 90% believe that he is playable... Maybe I'm just getting dissapointed too fast as he is one of my fav.
